My partner and I hired Janis and Brocade Events after much discussion. I was not convinced that we should spend money on a wedding planner, nor seek their advice, as I had heard bad experiences from many family members and friends that had bad experiences (actually - not one had a good experience). We had out wedding in a different city than where we lived, and this issue pushed me over the edge. Janis was so patient and organized throughout the process. She kept everything on time, sent gentle reminders of what to do, was very clear on what she could and could not do for us during the process, and made the magic happen on the day of the event. Our wedding was fantastic - our guests all had a fabulous time and enjoyed themselves so much. My partner and I had such a wonderful time, and look back on the pictures with great happiness. I strongly believe that this event could not have gone as smoothly or as effortlessly had Janis not been there to make sure everything went perfectly. Our wedding was truly a dream. Meet the team
Janis is the owner and Principal Event Planner for Brocade Events. In addition to being certified by The Wedding Planners Institute of Canada in Wedding Planning and Destination Wedding Planning, Janis has a diploma in Business Management from SAIT Polytechnic and has experience as a Manager in the corporate sector.
Janis has also been working with The Wedding Planners Institute of Canada for a few years, with her current role as an instructor for the Toronto area WPIC Certification classes where she contributes to creating a more professional wedding industry. She has had her work featured in Weddingbells and The Wedding Ring magazines, and has been interviewed and featured in articles by The Huffington Post, Toronto Star, and Wedding Trends Magazine.
Janis stays up to date on wedding trends, and continues to expand her knowledge and expertise by attending seminars, conferences, training courses, and networking with wedding and event industry experts, She operates Brocade Events on a full time basis, and not as a hobby business or side project.
She is the Mom to three little (busy) boys, a wine lover, book club member, kick-boxing fitness enthusiast, and has two Cornish Rex cats named Dobby and Kreature (inspired by Harry Potter of course).
Getting to know the couples and families she is working with throughout the planning process is the best part of her job, and hearing the words "We could not have done this without you" at the end of the night is what makes so honoured to have been a part of a couple's journey.
