If you’re feeling overwhelmed with planning, don’t worry, you’re not alone. The pressure to pull off a perfect wedding can sometimes be unbearable, but we are here to help you through it. We’ve listed five ways to keep you level-headed and focused on the end goal: marrying the love of your life!

Get Organized
Kick off your planning process by creating an all-encompassing checklist of everything that needs to be done before the wedding. Commit to checking your to-do list on a regular basis and download the WeddingWire app to plan on-the-go. Try to include even the smallest details, such as hair appointments and fittings, since those are sometimes the easiest to overlook. Not only will the checklist help you visualize what needs to be done and when, it will feel great every time you cross one more thing off your list!

Be Honest
Make sure everyone who’s involved in your planning process (including vendors) knows where you and your S.O. stand on important issues, such as budget, guest count and wedding style. If you’re upfront about everything from the start, it can prevent a lot of unnecessary stress, confusion and heartache down the road.

Plan Ahead
Try to book your major wedding vendors (venue, caterer and photographer) as soon as possible, followed by subsequent details, such as flowers, rentals and entertainment. Beginning early ensures that you have your pick when it comes to vendors and also gives you more time to deal with any last-minute issues that arise. Most importantly, you’ll be able to spend the weeks before your wedding relaxing instead of hurrying back and forth to appointments.

Take Breaks
Don’t go overboard with planning! It’s easy to get caught up in colour schemes, tasting menus and centerpiece arrangements, but for your sanity’s sake, be sure to designate at least one or two days a week when wedding talk is off-limits. Taking a short break allows you and your fiancé(e) to refocus your energy on each other, and you’ll return to planning with a fresh outlook.

Let Go
Make peace with the fact that you can’t (and shouldn’t) do everything on your own. Hand over a few responsibilities to your parents, wedding party members, and anyone else who offers to help. This can be tough to do sometimes, especially if you’re a perfectionist, but it’s a crucial factor in keeping your stress levels low. Plus, it will allow your loved ones to feel like they’re playing an extra-special role in your big day!
