Seamless planning and amazing location

Lonny and his team have gone above and beyond every step of the way. We haven't had our wedding yet (Covid restrictions - we had to postpone with only 5 days notice), but we have been consistently amazed at their customer service. The initial planning was seamless, as they organize everything and provide recommendations for any of your decisions (timing, meals, etc.). Not only were they understanding when we postponed but they made sure that the rebooking process was a snap, just took a couple emails. If you are looking for a venue that puts your experience first, especially with a gorgeous mountain backdrop, this is it.

While our wedding is still to come we have stayed at the inn a few times. The food and staff are amazing, and the rooms are a great place to escape. Based on our previous visits and interactions with Lonny and Megan, we have no concerns that our wedding will be success.

The Most Perfect, Stress-Free Wedding Weekend

We had the most incredible experience at A Bear and Bison Inn for our wedding, and I truly can’t say enough good things about this venue and the people behind it.

From day one, Brooke, Barbora, and Lonny were absolutely amazing to work with. They were always quick to answer any questions we had, whether by email or phone, and even took the time to stay on calls with me to walk through all the package options. They helped us find the perfect fit for our budget and vision—completely pressure-free.

What really stood out is how much they take care of you. Once you book and fill out their questionnaire, they truly handle everything. It made the entire planning process feel so easy and stress-free.

We rented out the entire venue for two nights and had all of our guests stay on-site with us, which was the best decision. It created such a relaxed, intimate atmosphere where everyone could fully enjoy the weekend together. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt completely taken care of—and our guests did too.

The food was incredible. We’re still talking about the breakfasts and all the snack options—they made sure we were well fed the entire weekend!

Our wedding day itself went so smoothly and felt so calm and enjoyable. It was everything we hoped for and more. Honestly, I wouldn’t change a single thing, and so much of that is thanks to the amazing team at A Bear and Bison Inn.

If you’re looking for a carefree, all-inclusive wedding experience where your closest people can stay together and truly soak it all in, this place is 100% worth it.

Excellent experience and value for an intimate wedding with full venue buyout

We had an amazing wedding at Bear and Bison Inn. The team was very attentive and easy to work with and we loved the intimate setting. We were looking for a venue that would allow for a full buyout for a few days without being too expensive and accommodate our closest family and friends. Bear and Bison delivered on all of this and we couldn't have asked for anything more. We housed 20 adults total at the inn and our total guest list for the wedding was about 60 people. We were worried the space would feel a bit tight, but the silver service menu and the use of the balcony made it an excellent experience. April allowed for fewer crowds and incredible views of snowcapped mountains and frozen lakes. We had a bit of snow a couple days before our wedding, but the wedding day itself was perfect weather for our outdoor ceremony. Lonny and the team are efficient and very seasoned so you can definitely trust them to make sure the wedding goes smoothly.

Magical Wedding Weekend!

We had an incredible three-night stay at A Bear & Bison Inn in February! We rented out the entire inn so both our families could stay together (20 of us total), and we'd recommend this to anyone else who's planning a smaller wedding. The inn is rustic, cozy, and authentic, making it the perfect space to spend time in the mountains with family and friends. The service, responsiveness, and professionalism from the entire team at the inn were impeccable! They ensured the entire weekend went smoothly, and they created such a charming and relaxing environment. It truly felt like a rustic yet luxurious retreat. And the food was AMAZING - every single one of our guests was raving about the food the whole weekend. We had the perfect day thanks to the Bear and Bison Inn!

Beautiful September Wedding

My husband and I hosted an intimate wedding here September 2025. While there were small things here and there that could be improved, overall I have nothing bad to say about this venue. I truly could not have picked a better place to get married, I will cherish my time there for the rest of my life. Specifically Brooke, was an absolute professional and always there to communicate with. I accidentally cut my necklace into two pieces (don’t ask) before walking down the aisle… Brooke was able to fix it with a piece of string, and I am still wearing the necklace with that string holding it together! Thank you to Brooke for her kindness and gentle communication with my family and friends who stayed at the Inn.

If you want an affordable, rustic, homey place to host your wedding and guests for a few nights, this is the place. We have had tons of compliments on the food and hospitality of the staff. They truly made the event all about us, considering all of our preferences in every step of planning, if you are unsure just ask them and they are happy to clarify anything you ask! Absolutely book with them!

Wedding at the bear and bison

I could’ve read the itinerary received a lot better! My confusion was with the liquor sales, thankfully it was figured out!!
The owners, coordinators, staff, were all absolutely amazing. Being a paraplegic it’s hard to find accessible locations - this one was not accessible… which is fine!!!
The staff kept coming up and asking if I had everything I needed constantly! It was a blessing, they did such an amazing job
I loved the Inn - to give some advice regarding accessibility though:
The doors weren’t very wide - I could barely fit through the doors
The hallway carpet and bedroom carpets are super hard to wheel on! Squishy and comfy for able people but not for wheels
I don’t think this place was pet friendly which is okay, but it would’ve been great to have our family dog there!
The bathrooms weren’t all large enough for a wheelchair to get in and turn around!
If there’s any possibility at all to include a lift somewhere at the inn!!!
The hot tub as well was apparently really hot - I wouldn’t have been able to go in - I didn’t

A Wonderful Elopement Wedding

We had an excellent elopement wedding at the Bear & Bison Inn in Canmore this August. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. Lonny and the entire team were incredible during the planning process. They were responsive, accommodating and attentive to our requests. On the day itself, everything was seamless and beautifully facilitated, allowing us to truly enjoy the moment without stress.

The atmosphere of the inn is warm and welcoming. We are so grateful to the staff for making our wedding day unforgettable. We highly recommend the Bear & Bison Inn to anyone looking for a special, memorable wedding in Canmore.

Absolutely Amazing

There is not much I can say that is bad or disappointing. This place is the perfect ideal wedding venue. Not only is the staff top knotch with service, and care. They take care of absolutely everything! The couple don’t have to hassle or worry about anything. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and cozy. The views are absolutely amazing, and the food is rendered me speechless. The meals were some of the best meals I have tasted in my life. You will not be disappointed, it is well worth the cost! And it is a cost but they are above and beyond

Amazing venue, stress free planning

We booked A Bear and Bison Inn without having been there before and we weren’t able to visit ahead of time. Everything went so smoothly and we couldn’t have hoped for a better day! Communication was easy and they were very responsive. The list of recommended vendors they provided was super helpful and we ended up using photographers, bakery, and hair and make up artist they recommended and were very happy with all of the services. We loved that we could rent the entire venue for our friends and family, it made the weekend so special. From arrival to check out the service was exceptional. We appreciated all of the staff so much- they were friendly, helpful, checked in regularly and made sure that everything was on track. The food was amazing and our guests kept saying it was the best wedding food they’d ever had. I highly recommend A Bear and Bison, we had an excellent experience!

Outstanding Micro Destination Wedding

I relied heavily on reviews while planning for my micro destination wedding so I wanted to leave a detailed review for other brides looking. The Bear & Bison was perfect. Lonny & his team made the planning process stress free. We had a 20 person micro wedding & rented the entire Inn for the weekend (10 bedrooms). The place is exactly the vibe for the Rockies - log cabin style with a view of the mountains. Our guests could not stop talking about the food - they even made accommodations for our 10 year old cousin who loved her pancakes instead of the "adult" breakfasts.

I cannot speak enough about the staff. Brooke, Annette, and Barbara continuously checked on us to ensure we had everything we needed. We didn't need to bring any decorations as they set up everything perfectly from their inventory. I was so stressed about the rain (it didn't end up raining) but the girls were fully prepared with options for umbrellas or setting up inside which I cannot thank enough. Everyone loved the bartender Landon - he talked to all the guests and made everyone feel like his family. From our bonfire welcome night, to the wedding day itself, to the goodbye breakfast, the staff made sure every event went perfectly.

This was our dream wedding. I cannot thank the staff enough for making the weekend so special for us. We will definitely be back for an anniversary.

A few notes for future brides
-ask the staff which rooms don't have separate showers when planning for elderly or disabled guests
-Put bath salts as favors for your guests since all the rooms have beautiful tubs
-do the bonfire package plus bar the night before the wedding - it was easier to organize than planning a trip to another bar, plus people can go to bed when they want.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
