Owl Eye Photography is an International Elopement, Wedding, and Portrait Photographer who takes Commercial Content Creation Photography WORLDWIDE and is based in The Bow Valley here in the Canadian Rockies throughout Banff, Canmore, and Kananaskis. Owner Kat Ocean is a director of photography and videography. An expert at working closely to ensure your goals and vision are uniquely curated through precise planning. She uses her technical skills with artificial lighting mixed with her keen eye for natural lighting. Her ability to empathetically connect with clients, makes them feel comfortable, natural, and pure. Kaitlyn cherishes the opportunity to create art from your vision!
She loves photographing the beauty of nature, combining her eye for the landscape with portraits. Kat, is a dual ski and snowboard instructor, teaches nighttime photography as well as basics of photography, and in her spare time hikes peaks, backcountry camps, canoes, cross-country skis, and surfs. She is a traveler, lover of the ocean, good food, and yoga - you will see her chase the sun from rise to setting and appreciate all art in its forms. She is recently married to Cam and is tucked away in the forest of Kananaskis with her cat Mue. Together they all enjoy adventuring life.

Highly recommend for anyone looking for a photographer!
Kaitlyn took her time to really understand our vision for the photos and what we wanted the day to feel like. She had different props including a beautiful canoe, and took us to various landscapes to make sure we got a wide array of photos we loved.
She has an extremely calming and warm energy, once you meet her it feels like you’ve known her for years. As someone who doesn’t typically enjoy photos, I really appreciated her presence and ability to get me out of my comfort zone in a natural and comfortable way.
We’ve kept in contact even long after our wedding. She truly makes the experience feel like she is a lifelong friend just there to celebrate with you and make sure you have beautiful photos to love for years to come.

From the Heart: Kai's Unmatched Care and Dedication in Capturing Our Wedding Day
Despite the challenging weather conditions on your wedding day, Kai (and Cam, second shooter and Kai’s partner - fantastic person, if you have the chance hire him as well) were absolute troopers. With temperatures reaching as low as -40 degrees Celsius, it was not an easy day for anyone involved. But even in the face of such adversity, they remained upbeat, proactive, and completely unfazed.
On the day of the wedding, Kai was an absolute joy to work with. She was incredibly organized and professional, but also relaxed and easygoing, which put us both at ease and made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. She managed to capture all of the important moments of the day without ever feeling intrusive or disruptive, and she was always on hand to offer guidance and direction when needed.
And when we received the final photos, we were absolutely blown away. Kai had managed to capture the essence of the day so perfectly, from the small, intimate moments between us and our loved ones to the grand, sweeping shots of the ceremony and reception. Her attention to detail was unparalleled.
Additionally, it was such an amazing experience that we had to repeat it (lol). We ended up hiring Kai for another session of portraits and again that was another fantastic experience, not to mention, the photos were absolutely stunning!
Overall, we can't recommend Kai highly enough. She is a true professional in every sense of the word, and her love and care for her clients really shines through in every aspect of her work. If you're looking for a photographer who will go above and beyond to capture the magic of your special day, Kai is the perfect choice. She is FANTASTIC!

But as my wise father said "life doesn't stop happening or go on pause" and there was no need to put our love on hold or our life goals on hold. We had to change our expectations and adjust but in the end we got married and shared the day with loved ones.
We will do something bigger with lots of dancing at our 5 year anniversary.
With how amazing Kaitlyn at Owl Eye Photography was at being adaptable, encouraging, solutions focused, creative, and just plain rad, maybe we can have her there at the 5 year too!
