Owl Eye Photography is an International Elopement, Wedding, and Portrait Photographer who takes Commercial Content Creation Photography WORLDWIDE and is based in The Bow Valley here in the Canadian Rockies throughout Banff, Canmore, and Kananaskis. Owner Kat Ocean is a director of photography and videography. An expert at working closely to ensure your goals and vision are uniquely curated through precise planning. She uses her technical skills with artificial lighting mixed with her keen eye for natural lighting. Her ability to empathetically connect with clients, makes them feel comfortable, natural, and pure. Kaitlyn cherishes the opportunity to create art from your vision!
She loves photographing the beauty of nature, combining her eye for the landscape with portraits. Kat, is a dual ski and snowboard instructor, teaches nighttime photography as well as basics of photography, and in her spare time hikes peaks, backcountry camps, canoes, cross-country skis, and surfs. She is a traveler, lover of the ocean, good food, and yoga - you will see her chase the sun from rise to setting and appreciate all art in its forms. She is recently married to Cam and is tucked away in the forest in Banff National Park with her cats. Together they all enjoy adventuring life.

Kat was more than we could ever ask for. Since the start, she made us feel so comfortable with her warm and welcoming demeanor. She really went out of her way every step of the way to make our day perfect. She met with me in the decision making process and our conversation really sold it. I just loved her vibe and who she was as a person, which means alot to me when picking someone to make you feel confident... and I loved her work samples, of course! Soon after booking she helped us to figure out our general vision and plan for the wedding. She had multiple check-ins leading up to the big day and was the most responsible, on-top-of-it vendor we worked with out of all the vendors we booked - I cannot stress this enough - she put in more time and effort than all of our other vendors combined. She not only helped us to decide what types of pictures we wanted, including the style and landscapes (and gave suggestions and brought us there on our big day) but she also helped us decide how we could make special memories during the ceremony and reception and she validated our worries leading up to the day, finding any way to reduce our stress. Kat was very flexible even when we made some last minute changes to the plan, but she also took action and directed our family/friends when needed (especially when some were getting rowdy - thanks again Kat!). We really felt like she was part of our family, which is exactly what we needed for our big day to lessen the stress and to feel comfortable enough to relax and have fun while taking pictures! We had her join us for dinner and she went above and beyond capturing additional moments for us that were unplanned. We truly think she is a beautiful soul and an inspiration to us. Her astounding work and work ethic speak for themselves. Our pictures turned out so stunning and all of our family and friends complimented the pictures as soon as they saw them. When I initially hired her, I thought I was merely securing a photographer. However, after falling prey to a fraudulent wedding planner and losing a significant amount of money, I found myself in a tough situation and desperately needing guidance. Instantly, Kaitlyn jumped in to help me replan, never letting the timeline or my stress overwhelm us. She helped me find a fantastic florist who drove hours to work with me, demonstrating the powerful connections she has within the industry. Kaitlyn also referred me to new wedding planners who expertly coordinated every detail of our special day.
In addition to her incredible support, I was treated to a complimentary engagement photo shoot in the stunning Jasper, where Kaitlyn captured breathtaking images that truly showcased my happiness. As someone who has struggled with self-confidence, Kaitlyn managed to make me feel stunning and radiant during the shoot. I also took the plunge and booked a boudoir session with her in Edmonton, gifting my husband an unforgettable album on our wedding day. I never thought I would be comfortable enough for such an intimate experience, but Kaitlyn's warmth and professionalism made it a joyful occasion, encouraging me to embrace my authenticity—yes, even outdoors completely nude!
The wedding day itself was nothing short of magical. Despite the rain, Kaitlyn found beauty in every moment, capturing our rustic farmhouse vibe perfectly. She brought fun and creativity to all our shoots, ensuring we not only got the incredible images we wanted but also had an amazing time doing it.
What truly stood out was Kaitlyn's unwavering positivity throughout the process. From tackling the challenges of firing my previous planner to reassuring me with phrases like, “It’s okay, we got this; we will figure it out,” she kept stress at bay.
With everything from drones capturing candid moments to a taco truck for a midnight snack, our wedding was anything but ordinary.
