Nice photos, but hardly any retouching
The good: (First 2 pictures)
Chris and Mike were great, very personable, funny and efficient. They worked well with my videographer and were a lot of fun. They’re prompts for candid photos were great, and got a lot of genuine smiles without looking awkward. We got all our photos back quickly (within two weeks) and the online album is very nice. The scenery was beautiful and he captured the lake beautifully. Chris is very responsive and understanding and extremely helpful with planning and offered great advice on timing. Day-of they were totally understanding and had no problem staying a little late to catch the last big moments, which was so appreciated.
Let me preface this with saying that i understand everyone is their own worst critic, and things that i notice, other people might not. Planning a a wedding, COVID stress and wearing a mask constantly caused my face to breakout like crazy. Although Chris did a great job with the scenery, he didn’t do anything as far as retouching my husband and I. In every photo, all I see is my acne. I will be very honest, I cried when I started looking at my photos, because I don’t feel like this photos bring out my best side at all. Your wedding photos should be the best pictures of you; you spend thousands of dollars to make sure, and I don’t feel pretty at all in my photos. Something as small as editing out pimples would have made a WORLD of difference, but even something as simple as that was overlooked. Something that I was forced to do myself because i was embarrassed to show anyone (except I included one that i didn't "fix" so you can see - the 3rd picture)
He also doesn’t remove objects from photos during his editing. Ex. His second photographer is in a couple of our ceremony pictures, there a big takeout box on the table right behind us during my dance with my Dad, a wine glass was forgotten on our cake table for the cake cutting...things that ruin photos in my opinion. (last picture)
Chris was lovely, and after I fixed blemishes and cropped out/did my best to erase objects, I like my pictures. But it was a lot of work that I (assumed) thought would have been done for me.Sent on 04/02/2021

We absolutely loved Chris and his helper. They made our wedding day so much fun and captured some of the funnest things!
Chris was fantastic to work with. They took us to amazing spots in Canmore to capture the scenery. They did what we asked for requests and were there to capture the fun dancing moments as well. All the photos are amazing and not a single one was bad. They made taking photos fun for everyone involved!Sent on 26/11/2019

Our wedding photos are amazing! We are blown away with them. From the very beginning of booking Chris was very helpful and flexible, he had no problem working with us over email as we were coming from a distance. He made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and is friendly and professional. He worked with our other vendors to ensure photos went smoothly. We received the photos promptly and he responded to all emails very quickly. I would recommend Chinook Photography to anyone looking for a photographer. Chris was totally on board with us getting a photo with lightning in the background, and WE DID! He worked very very hard to get the photo, standing out in the rain to shoot it. We appreciate everything he did for our wedding and will cherish the gorgeous photos forever. If you are considering Chinook Photography, do yourself a favor and choose them!Sent on 05/10/2019

Seriously Awesome pics!
We had so much fun doing our engagement shoot and wedding photos. Chris made it feel very relaxed, and he knew the area really well and took us to a bunch of different locations for engagement as well as wedding photos. The pictures turned out AMAZING! He even caught some wildlife in some photos!Sent on 23/06/2019

I planned on doing a surprise proposal to my girlfriend and needed someone who could capture the special moment. Chris was the guy. Very friendly, supremely talented and easy to deal with. From start to finish, he will make sure you know what is happening. I liked how he responded so quickly to my inquiry and the moment I talked to him, I knew I found the guy to entrust taking photos of my proposal. There was not a moment where my now-fiance and myself were uncomfortable because he will guide you every step of the way in terms of poses and the likes.
Trust me, if I could give Chris twice as many stars I would. One of the best, if not the best out there.Sent on 23/11/2017

Originally from Ontario, I now call Banff home. As a graduate of the prestigious Algonquin College of Media and Design with a degree in Photography, I bring with me a passion for landscape photography with an emphasis in fashion. I am just as much at home in the backcountry of Banff as I am shooting glamour portraits for a magazine cover.
When not photographing weddings, I can be found hiking, climbing and exploring everything Banff has to offer.
I have been a full time photographer with Chinook Photography for the past year.

When not traveling shooting weddings or teaching other photographers you can find him in the backcountry photographing wildlife in the Canadian Rockies and Alaska. Chris lives in Bragg Creek, Alberta with his wife and 2 dogs.

Born and raised in Calgary, Mike returned after earning BFA in Photography from Ryerson University in Toronto graduating on the Dean’s List of 2014.
Mike’s passion for capturing images has lead him from a structured university environment to hours of tutorials, working with mentors in the earlier days and countless hours behind the lens. Photography is Mikes life. Even his hobbies, snowboarding, and rock climbing, regularly become photo shoots.
When he is not shooting weddings, or helping on sets of movies and TV, you can find Mike in the mountain backcountry on some amazing adventure!
