Turquoise lakes, a castle in the mountains and peaks in every direction. We've spent more than 15 years learning every corner of the Canadian Rockies, and we still get goosebumps at every wedding!
Chinook Photography is a team of five full-time wedding photographers. We photograph about 100 weddings a year across Banff, Canmore, Lake Louise, Kananaskis, Calgary, Jasper and BC's Emerald Lake and Golden, more than 750 weddings in all. We're licensed and insured to work in Banff National Park and the Town of Banff, and banffnationalpark.com lists us among the top 10 wedding photographers in Banff.
Our lead photographer, Chris Beck, has taught photography for Canon USA and Alaskan Photography Tours, and in 2014 his photos made Cosmopolitan's list of the top 14 wedding photographers in the world.
Our style is relaxed, candid and full of landscape: real moments, big views and zero stiff poses, with clean, crisp editing and no heavy filters. We know the venues, the light and the backup spots for mountain weather, so you can relax and soak it all in.
What we offer: full-day wedding collections from $2,200, hourly elopement coverage from $750, engagement sessions, second photographers, albums and prints. Every collection can be customised to fit your day.

Absolute Professionals and Invaluable Wedding Strategists!
He is incredibly detail-oriented and obviously brings a wealth of experience—not just with photography, but with wedding planning as a whole. During our planning phase, Chris gave us so many fantastic ideas on how to structure our wedding day, from fun games to play with guests to creative concepts for our photo shoots.
On the wedding day itself, Chris and Jared were a powerhouse duo. They were with us all day from morning until night, always busy, always working, and constantly scouting out different photo locations, new angles, and unique spots we never would have thought of on our own, while nailing the lighting setup throughout the day.
What truly set Chris apart, though, was his ability to defuse the wedding-day jitters. He cracked jokes, played games, and kept everyone laughing and genuinely enjoying themselves during every single phase—from getting dressed in the morning and pre-ceremony shoots, all the way through the ceremony, reception, and dance party.
We also received so many compliments from our guests about how great Chris and Jared were at positioning themselves to get prime shots while never once getting in the way or obstructing our guests' views. Their attention to detail was exceptional, including how brilliantly they took charge of organizing group family and friend photos—yelling out names and ushering everyone into position smoothly.
Thanks to Chris's thoroughness during our planning meetings, our entire day ran like clockwork, packed with thoughtful details we would have completely missed without his guidance. But the absolute best part for us was how Chris functioned almost like a wedding strategist and advisor. Not only before the wedding, but right in the middle of the day, he offered calm encouragement and advice—reminding us to pause and take a moment for ourselves up at the altar, not to be too nervous, and to remember to shake hands and hug our parents.
I wanted to write this review right away because we were already so thoroughly impressed with their entire approach, and we are 100% certain the final photos are going to be breathtaking. Thank you, Chris and Jared, for everything!

Meet the team
Originally from Alaska Chris is one of the most sought after wedding photographers in the Pacific Northwest and Canadian Rockies. In 2014 Chris' photos made Cosmopolitans list of top 14 Wedding Photographers in the World. Chris runs 2 photography studios, one in Seattle, Washington and the other from Bragg Creek, Alberta.
Chris' style has been described as "landscape infused". Blending the best of the natural surroundings and thriving in any conditions, Chris' goal is to deliver jaw dropping images to clients to cherish for a lifetime.
Chris is a proud member of Professional Photographers of America, and Professional Wedding Photographers of Canada. When not taking photos for clients you can find Chris traveling teaching photography. Chris has taught photography classes to other photographers as a guide through Alaskan Photography Tours and Canon USA.
When not traveling shooting weddings or teaching other photographers you can find him in the backcountry photographing wildlife in the Canadian Rockies and Alaska. Chris lives in Bragg Creek, Alberta with his wife and 2 dogs.

Born and raised in Calgary, Jared’s photography career began when he moved to Los Angeles in 2010 to attend the Los Angeles Film School. After a couple of amazing years in LA attending school, he moved back to Calgary to establish himself in the market. Jared worked on TV shows like Hell on Wheels and Fargo. He has also worked on some photography assignments with the Calgary Flames.
Jared has shot weddings from LA to Kauai, Hawaii. But he feels most at home photographing weddings in the Canadian Rockies. When not photographing weddings, portraits or fashion photography, you can find Jared in the backcountry of the Rockies exploring and taking photos.
Paul’s photography background is in lifestyle, travel, and adventure stock photography Since 2012 Paul has captured content for Getty Images, iStock Images, Corbis Images, and Aurora Photos. Paul’s images have been purchased by luxury travel publications & agencies, media conglomerates, Fortune 500 companies, luxury hotel chains, Ivy League universities, and private individuals for personal collections.
Paul has been lucky enough to travel to dozens of countries around the globe experiencing other cultures and all lifestyles.
Paul feels the most beautiful, enduring photos happen in a heartbeat. Capturing those special moments takes practice and when all the elements line up just right a unique moment is documented that transports you back to that special place and time for years to come.
Paul always has a camera in his hand. When he is not shooting weddings you can find him in the backcountry of the Canadian Rockies capturing incredible images sure to grace the cover of a local magazine. Paul is most known for his extensive travel photos and has taken all the experience to transition into wedding photography.
