Why? Two big reasons: first, at the time of writing this review (October 31st, 2024), she has a perfect 5 star rating on Google with 937 registered reviews. I'm not great with math, but that looks like a 100% success rate to me :)

Second, our experience – my partner and I are non-denominational, both coming from different places on the raised-by-a-religious-family spectrum, and it was important to us to have a celebration of our love that suited all parties. With our ceremony held in Ontario, we also wanted to be officiated over by a close friend of ours, herself not recognized by any religious institutions (and not recognized by Ontario to legally marry us). So, we found Tade, agreed on a time and place before our public ceremony, and thought to ourselves Well, We Can't Have All Things At Once, So We'll Have A No Frills Legal Marriage. Honestly, we didn't put much stock in the legal ceremony, assuming that it would be bare bones and less important than our public ceremony. That's where Tade blew our socks off.

We agreed to meet in a park in Little Italy, fairly innocuous, on a Tuesday evening. True to Toronto form, there were other people using the park, there was litter on the ground, and no park benches were clean. When Tade arrived and we began, the words and advice that she came with held a certain gravity, such so that when our ceremony began, we felt as though we three (and our two witnesses) were the only people around for miles; the focus that she brought and her love for love was so infectious that there was little else to attune to; we had to sign our papers and, thoughtfully, she brought a clean, ceremonial blanket to cover the bench with. Her vernacular and sincerity were truly touching, and made all the difference to us – she turned our little formality into an event we would never want to forget.
