Meet the team
Hello! It is a such a privilege to get to work with couples in preparation for their wedding, and on their special day. My skill and background prepare me uniquely to ensure that your ceremony goes off without a hitch--that said, that doesn't mean "exactly as planned"! For all the planning and details, a wedding is an event with a lot of moving parts. My background in film and theatre acting equip me with the skills to be flexible and respond to whatever may arise. I am a classroom teacher of dance and drama, and a mom of two (Johanna is 6, Clayton is 4!), so having a lot of things on the go is familiar to me. When we meet I will assure you that calm, centered celebration is possible--and that your day can rise to the height of the love you feel in your heart.
Prior to officiating weddings I studied English Literature at Queen's University in Kingston, ON and Herstmonceux, UK. I have my Master's in Education from York University with a focus on Urban Aboriginal Education. My B.Ed. is also from Queen's, as part of their Artist in Community Education program. I have published as a journalist and poet, and performed as a dancer and actor since childhood. Trivia tidbit: I was one of Drake's Stand-Ins on Degrassi: The Next Generation. I love being in nature and walking the ravines of Toronto. I went to school in Toronto: Gabriel Roy, Rawlinson, Horizon Alternative, Etobicoke School for the Arts, Northern SS and City School Alternative. I also lived in Truro, NS for my grade six year, in 1990.
