Sarah Boyer Messenger is a humanist officiant serving the area of Toronto. She has a great sense of humour and knows how to make anyone feel comfortable. Her professionalism and personality will instantly make you feel at ease on your big day. Since 2008, Sarah has been a Toronto wedding officiant. She used to be a wedding officiant for Muskoka, but has changed her focus. She has a B.A. in cultural anthropology from the University of British Columbia and continues her love for discovering new cultures, beliefs, and traditions.

Attentive and endearing

Sarah gave a beautiful wedding ceremony. She was helpful throughout the entire process, helping with writing the ceremony itself, and was very attentive to our unique needs as an interfaith couple. She also came prepared with extra pens for the signing of the license on stage, which came in handy since our fancy pen was run over by a vehicle.

The best experience!!!

Sarah was absolutely incredible. I am so thankful we chose her to be our officiant. Not only is she fun, she is incredibly warm and genuine. We had a really short timeline we had planned our wedding in, and that meant we had some hiccups with our paperwork that almost prevented us from having a real ceremony at our wedding. She was amazingly patient and helpful and really empathized with our situation. We ended up getting the paperwork two days before the wedding and she still made it all happen and come together. We got married on Sept 26, 2021. Many of our guests commented how great she was - she really brought to life our vision of a ceremony - humour, warm moments that brought tears to many eyes, and lots of joy. Thank you Sarah!!!

Everything we Wanted

Sarah was an absolute pleasure to work with! She is so sweet and accommodating. Upon first consultation, she really got to know us, and really made us feel at ease with the process of the ceremony. To us, getting married was the most important part. We really wanted a ceremony that represented us as individuals as well as a couple, and she made sure of that! It was absolutely perfect!

She is so professional, organized and helpful, and made it so easy by giving us great samples and advice in creating our perfect ceremony. We highly recommend Sarah!

Beautiful Backyard Intimate Ceremony

Sarah was the reason I was able to pull together my wedding in just 5 weeks! She was flexible and accommodating and incredibly helpful. Sarah actually gave my Dad really great advice when he was helping me figure out how to plan a small family wedding during Covid restrictions and truly got the ball rolling. Sarah created a ceremony that was perfect for us and made us feel completely comfortable on the day of our marriage. All four of our parents were thrilled with our ceremony and thought that Sarah was just lovely!

A little pushy and less than flexible

We reached out to Sarah based on a recommendation. We appreciated her willingness to perform the ceremony in any way we wanted - however she was pushy at times and less than friendly through correspondence. Affordable and got the job done though - don’t expect anything warm and squishy.

Great Ceremony on a short notice

We invited Sarah to be our officiant on very short notice, to our small house wedding. She did a great job and all of the guests were very impressed by the words and ceremony. Highly recommended

Professional and Fun!

Sarah officiated our wedding on November 16, 2019. We loved her professional, yet personable vibe. She is absolutely great to work. She was very responsive leading up to the wedding, and gave us great advice to make sure the ceremony could be seen and heard by everyone in attendance. I would highly recommend!

Sarah is the best!

Sarah is lovely and hilarious and was extremely accommodating, given our chaotic and changeable schedule. She was very helpful throughout and offered gentle reminders every time we forgot something. Highly recommended.

Officiant with heart and soul

From the moment we met Sarah, we knew she was the perfect person to marry us. Her comical nature and zest for life is what drew us to her and we’re so glad we booked her as our officiant. Just before our ceremony, she mentioned that she might tear up a bit during our ceremony because our vows really give her the feels. To me, that’s a clear sign that she takes her role to heart, and is completely invested in each ceremony that she performs. I would recommend her wholeheartedly, especially if you’re looking for an officiant who is easy going, clever, genuine and fun!
