Laurel's On Whyte is owned by visionary John Mackell and is based in Edmonton, Alberta. The business has been around since 1992 and provides floral arrangements for any type of event -- be it rustic, elegant, intimate, or grand. Laurel’s On Whyte also offers couples luxe couture treatment and simpler, a la carte services. The shop specializes in the following floral styles: -

Great experience!
We loved our wedding flowers and got so many compliments on them! They made such a difference in our decor and were gorgeous! We also rescheduled our wedding several times due to the pandemic and Laurel’s was so kind and accommodating each time. I would highly recommend them for your wedding flowers (or any flowers)!!

Amazing to work with
Laurels was amazing to work with this whole process. Not knowing anything beyond the difference between a daisy and a rose, they were able to guide me through picking flowers that were in season, vases and greenery and what colours would work with our venue. I had a last minute freakout thinking oxblood would be too dark and they were able to reassure me that everything would be fine, it would look gorgeous and not moody. They were 100% right. I will never have flowers that amazing again in my life, I am so happy I went with them.

Wonderful Florist with a Great Sense of Style
The most beautiful flower arrangements for our August wedding were done by John. Recommended by our wedding planner, John took the time to go over his vision with our colours and theme in mind. After our initial meeting and with many back and forth messaging through email and phone calls (which were answered promptly and quickly) everything we wanted had worked out perfectly.
He matched the decor and theme of our wedding to the tee. It was beautiful, elegant and classy nothing was out of place. The flowers and greenery were fresh and stood the night amazingly. My bouquet was gorgeous (I believe there was a flower he thought initially would not be in season but it was in the bouquet that day, so happy to have seen it!).
The pricing was reasonable and expected for a wedding of 100 guests, a bridal party of ten and the venue itself. It was more beautiful than what I could have ever imagined! Some of our guests were guessing the flowers alone was priced as much as our entire wedding! That was how extraordinary the arrangements were.
John is an amazing artist with much knowledge about flowers and greenery and who has a great sense of style.
I will always remember his words "Rest assured, the flowers will look beautiful! We don't do ugly:)"

Beautiful flowers!
We hired Laurel's On Whyte as the florist for our wedding and it was the best decision ever! The flowers were so gorgeous!!! We absolutely loved them! 🌻
John (and the entire team) at Laurel's were awesome to work with. They helped us with every decision and through multiple covid delays. We are so grateful to them for sticking with us! We cannot recommend them enough!
I do have to admit that I’m disappointed with how long the flowers lasted. I’m not at all an expert when it comes to flowers so I’m not sure if this is normal or not, but our flowers started wilting pretty quickly. Even as we were taking pictures, some of the boutonnieres were completely dead and people were having to swap so that whoever was taking a picture, had the healthy boutonnieres that hadn’t wilted yet. By the next morning, at least 30% of the flowers in all the bouquets were completely wilted.
Our wedding did take place outside, in the hot sun so that is probably why the flowers wilted too quickly. I would highly recommend to future brides to talk to your florist about flowers that will endure the weather in your wedding season.
I still really enjoyed my experience with Laurel’s on Whyte!

Especially out of water.. they have a tendency to crash pretty quickly. Combine that with an earlier day delivery (11am), warm sunny weather and they could go downhill in a hurry. We apologize if we failed to mention that in your consultation.

Gorgeous flowers

They provided flowers for my wedding. I was a bit concerned that she was going to go a bit overboard with the amount of flowers she used. What we originally wanted was something very simple, but she doubled the amount of flowers we wanted because she has to buy in bulk or something. The bouquets turned out gorgeous though and I'm glad that she convinced us to double the amount of flowers. The mothers corsages were gorgeous and better than I imagined. She was great, very friendly.
