I had ByTown as the catering vendor for my wedding at Fort Henry. I chose the ByTown Elite Cocktail Party package, which cost about $70 per person. Before January 2024, the price was originally around $57 per person. Although they warned us that the price might increase "slightly," it ended up being a significant increase, forcing us to cut back on our guest numbers to stay within budget.

Be prepared to negotiate with this vendor. My email chain shows well over 25 back-and-forth exchanges with the sales representative assigned to me in order to get my quote to where I wanted it. I found that they either overlooked or forgot to account for the number of children I specified in the guest count. The agent had included them in the pricing for the Elite Cocktail package at $70 per child. When I pointed out that I had been specific about the number of children attending because they wouldn’t eat the elaborate food offered to the adults, they adjusted the quote to a more reasonable charge of $40 per child for chicken strips. This is an example of why it’s important to be prepared to negotiate, ask questions, and clarify anything you’re unsure of.

If you want real glassware they charged for the use of real glassware, which added about $960 to the quote (including the charge for glassware and $30 per hour for bussers to collect it). My solution was to use glassware as wedding favors, which cost $300 for 100 glasses (1/3rd of the cost).

The food was fantastic, and the service was amazing. Just be prepared to negotiate with your sales rep to ensure you're getting the most value for your money, as this will likely be the biggest expense for your entire wedding (it made up roughly one-third of my wedding expenses).

We had a bit of a hiccup when our original person was no longer working there where we didn’t know who to contact but once that was figured out everything went smoothly, we opted to not do dinner and instead cocktail hour and a evening buffet, we spent more on catering then we did on food, the food was delicious but I felt a little expensive for what we went with.

The food is priced right and as a customer first and foremost I would highly recommend the Canadian Experience to have a yummy Beavertail with any one of our locations.

The food was so good! Our guests kept commenting on how good the food was! They were great to work with. It was wonderful to have the chef out helping serve the food. I was happy I got a chance to talk to him and thank him in person for the amazing meal.

The service was okay, however there were a few comments from our guests that the waitstaff didn’t look like they wanted to be there. There were also some misses, such as when I asked for a spoon for one of the dips, I was looked at like it was a strange request. And there was no cream/milk on the tables, and when asked for it, it took a long time to come, in fact even more coffee and tea was being brought around again before the cream/ milk was. It was also frustrating that if I would get pulled away for a quick second my food would immediately disappear.
Our wish was that someone would have told some one to make an announcement when food is being taken away so everyone had a chance to get things. And we wished that they had made more of an announcement about the midnight snack being served.

Aside from those couple things it was awesome!

Been working back and forth with Odette who is very personable and friendly. She has made this transaction and locking down our catering date smooth and easy, looking forward to tasting the food on our wedding day next fall :)

Had Bytown Catering for our daughter’s wedding. The food was delicious and staff very accommodating

We were so impressed and grateful for the quality of service we recieved. We have a lot of allergies in our family and wanted to create a menu everyone could enjoy without special accommodations. We were able to create a beautiful 5 course meal that avoided all of the allergens (and was delicious too). It was so nice to be able to share the same meal with all our guests. We truly appreciate everything they did for us.

My uncle and grandparents gifted us the catering for our wedding all I can say is WOW everyone at the wedding couldn’t stop raving about how good the food was

They were helpful in the planning process however on the day of they failed. They got lost on the way there called us at 2:30 to ask for directions to the venue. The venue, is one that this company has used many times, bytown should have given the catering team for that day better directions to the venue. As a result of them showing up late the cocktail hour started late and went late this would not have been a problem if the dinner was aloud to go late but they insisted that they "had to be out of there by 10". They were taking wine glasses and plates away from people who were not done their deserts or drinks. They should have let the dinner go past 10 since the reason it was delayed was because they were late. when you pay 5000 dollars you do not expect the caterers to rush out

Our wedding was at the Museum of Nature on July 30th 2016. My husband and I would like to say we are very pleased with everything, from the planning process working with Mélanie to the day of our wedding and the follow up invoice. The food was fantastic all our guest were happy and all allergenic and food specifications were met. My niece loved the vegan dish that she picked and many other guest loved it as well. Our dinner was the hot buffet Prime Rib option. For the late night dinner, we chose the pizza option which was also very tasty. At the wedding we asked that they keep the wine flowing though dinner and we will pay later. ByTown was very accommodating and able to keep all the guest wine glasses full for us. Very happy with the food and service. As the bride and groom we wish we could have had seconds but we were busy entertaining. Everything was very good. The three deserts were perfect and all guest were happy with dinner. Thank-you ByTown for a super job. Jen + Tim
