Jane Tran, the executive chef and founder of Chau, has over 10 years of culinary experience in Michelin and fine dining restaurants in NYC, London and the world. She graduated from the acclaimed International Culinary Institute in New York City and apprenticed under famed French chef Daniel Boulud.
They specialize in parties of 150 guests or fewer, but can accommodate other numbers. They pride themselves on working closely with their clients to craft and create custom menus that reflect the wedding party’s personality and style, food favourites and any dietary restrictions. Couldn't have been happier with Chau!
We got so many compliments on our food! Chau came up with a wonderful custom, all vegetarian menu for us that we just loved. Two food stations: a bao stand and a dumpling stand, plus a salad station and passed appetizers. Plus they staffed our bar with a great bartender who whipped up our custom cocktail menu expertly. One of the most memorable parts
The food was so delicious. She was really good at understanding what flavours I really wanted and how to make the different foods I liked into dishes I would love. She was so creative with the different flavours playing together. I appreciated that I was able to tell her just what I liked flavour wise and she was able to make the dishes and come up with something that fit perfectly. I had no idea what to have as dishes and I wanted something other than the traditional steak or chicken. Jane was able to come up with something and it was great being able to trust her to do so. I only plan on getting married once hahaha but I would gladly have her cook for other occasions if I can. Would defiantly recommend her to other couples.Sent on 27/09/2018

Creative and thoughtful
Although our plans for the event changed, our time working with the Chau team was great - they proved themselves to be very helpful and flexible to our requests and budget. Choosing Chau as our caterer was one of the best decisions we have ever made! The food was the talk of the party and our guests only made positive comments about the food. Not only did everything taste delicious, the presentation was also beautiful. Jane is full of creativity and good ideas, and not only did she help us customize our food options and menu, but also gave us great pointers with the whole wedding planning process. Jane and her team made an effort to look for us at our wedding, to deliver us our special plate, and even had us open up the Bao Bar before serving our guests - this was a very special touch for us! Chau was everything we could ask for in a caterer for our wedding of about 180 guests.
Firstly, the food: Chef Jane has a scrumptious Asian fusion menu that we were in love with at first sight, we had a tough time narrowing down the menu for our hors d'oevres and buffet style dinner.
Second, the service: Chau was amazingly flexible and accommodating with our specific requests. We had a variety of options for halal dishes, vegetarian, and gluten free. Jane Peters, the business manager, was also so sweet and put aside the hors d'oeuvres for us during cocktail hour because they knew we would get so busy and likely miss out otherwise. At the end of the night they also provided the two of us with our own personalized late night snacks.
Thirdly, logistics: Chau was very professional, thorough, and knowledgeable in working with our venue and asking the right questions so that things would run smoothly on the day of.
Lastly, aesthetics: the food looked great! We had some Korean chicken poppers that were served in compostable cones which were so cute and we loved the environmentally sustainable aspect. Chau also provided us with cute, custom to our theme, signs for each buffet dish.
We're looking forward to holding another event when we can get them to cater for us again.

Hi, I’m Jane. Well Jane 1 to be exact. I’m the culinary brains behind Chau and have been working in the food industry, basically all of my life. I love attending weddings, but loathe the traditional wedding food. I have a passion for creating custom menus which reflect the couple getting married. When I got married to my husband, we found it impossible to find a caterer which could create a custom Scottish/English and Vietnamese/Chinese menu which reflect our heritage. In the end, I catered my own wedding (yup that's me all dolled up with a butchers apron carving our roast) and decided then and there, that I would specialize in creating custom wedding menus which reflect each couple’s unique ethnicity & palates.
….. And I’m Jane 2. I’m the bumbling brawn and sometimes brilliant assistant at Chau and have been eating all my life. I’ve only attended 2 weddings - both my own - so I come to the wedding catering business with no bad habits. I have always been fascinated with how excellent food affects mood and elevates celebrations. Seeing people relish something that I have helped to craft for them (in whatever capacity) creates a feeling for me that is difficult to describe - I have been honoured to nourish you and be involved in your special moment.
