    Excellent Ambiance and Food

    L'abattoir is a special cozy space for intimate weddings. We were blown away with the service, the ambiance and especially the food. Our friends were raving about the food and we were just so happy to celebrate our special day in such a beautiful venue. Can't wait to go back and celebrate our wedding anniversary here. :)

    Fantastic Venue & Team

    Laney, Sean, and the entire team at L'Abattoir were amazing to work with (especially on such short notice). They were organized, responsive, and flexible with the changing requests and government restrictions. Everyone had a fantastic time and months later our guests are still telling us how much they loved the venue and how it was "the best food they've ever had at a wedding". We would highly recommend hosting your wedding (or other private event) here.

    2021 Covid Wedding

    Overall our experience with the L'Abattoir events team was amazing. The food was incredible, the servers and private bar tenders were exceptional and it all made our big day go seamless and stress free. The intimate space was perfect for our covid micro wedding. They helped set up all of our decor and even set up some of their own candles to add to. We were able to use their sound system and wifi to set up a zoom during the ceremony and play our own music during the reception. We were able to store our bins and extra things in a free space and we were also able to bring our own cake. The only thing we would suggest to future couples is to make sure the communication is very clear as we ran into a few small things that came down to communication with the event coordinators.

    Couldn't recommend more highly

    I can't say enough good things about L'Abattoir. Lainey, Sean and all of their staff were an absolute DREAM to work with.

    We had a group of 27 (including four children, two of which were added at almost the last possible moment with NO issues from L'abattoir), plus a photographer and videographer. Lainey and Sean did a FANTASTIC job of getting all of the logistics sorted our for us - truly a top class experience all the way through. Highly responsive, flexible and service-oriented. All documentation is made available online for easy access.

    We had no issues whatsoever getting the space set up. Our decor vendors were able to get in to set up easily with no issues. Sean and Lainey's team worked with a few key members of our wedding party to coordinate A/V, speech / service timing, and all of the other little details. We weren't bothered once the entire night.

    Our guests were extremely impressed with the food, service, quality of the alcohol available at the bar (Japanese whisky selection was a hit), and the space is absolutely perfect. We were likely a little bit ridiculous at times (again - the Japanese whisky selection was a hit), but the staff were nothing but friendly, gracious, and happy to help. I honestly couldn't recommend L'Abattoir as an intimate wedding reception venue more - thank you so much guys!!!!!

    Incredible!

    Our wedding was Aug 6, 2021 and we held both the ceremony and reception in the private dining room. From the moment I reached out to L’abattoir through wedding wire, their service has been nothing short of amazing! From the site visit, to the day-of staff going above and beyond… it’s been so enjoyable and stress free. All our guests agreed it was an exceptional experience!

    Delicious and Professional

    The staff were very polite and helpful, they made our night very easy. The food was excellent - you should eat here whether it's for a wedding or not. I highly recommend paying for the private bartender for your event!

    Perfect Intimate Event

    I don't even know where to start with reviewing L'abattoir because literally everything was perfect. My now husband and I postponed our wedding as a result of COVID, but wanted to still hold a civil ceremony with our closest family and friends, and still have a special event for it. And L'abattoir knocked it out of the park.

    The service leading up to the event, working with Lainey and Alexis, was so smooth and seamless. They were timely with all correspondence, and even when I changed my mind on things, they were adaptive and helpful on absolutely everything.

    The space itself - I honestly think it's the best small event space in the city. The exposed bricks, warm lighting, outdoor location in Gastown, and room set up is so effortless and beautiful it truly barely takes any decorations to make it perfect. I brought candles, place cards, and flowers - and that was it! We used the black chairs from in the restaurant, vs. the cream chairs in the private event space, and it looked so chic and NYC industrial/modern.

    The food, of course, was exceptional, and such good value for an incredible 3 course dinner at a remarkable restaurant. And the drinks! Our on site bartender was such a hit - and all of the cocktails were so beautiful and fun/festive - they were all a hit with our guests.

    I cannot stress how incredible everything was from start to finish, and would recommend l'abattoir to anyone hands down.

    Special occasion to remember

    We hosted a post-wedding dinner in the private event space and it went as smoothly as we'd hoped. The emails, guest portal and seating plan helped us stay organized and feel prepared. Our guests appreciated the delicious food, creative cocktails and attentive service. Everything the private event team did for us made it feel like a truly special occasion. Thank you!!

    The Best Wedding Dinner

    The L’Abbattoir events team made planning our wedding dinner easy and enjoyable, being extremely flexible and attentive to little details like name placards and ensuring we had favour tables. The food is incredible, with the same quality and attention given in their regular dining experience. Their staff was extremely attentive and friendly. When speeches began the staff was right there with the microphone assisting, and the continuously demonstrated how skillful they are at predicting what will be needed and providing it. We whole-heartedly recommend them for any event and will definitely be returning.
    If we could do anything different it would have been to actually host the wedding ceremony at L’Abbattoir. We didn’t realize this option until after we had booked the ceremony venue, but it is a beautiful space with a rustic vibe of wood and exposed brick that gives a very warm and classy ambiance. Since the event we have only received positive feedback from our guests, and have been told we had the best food and beverage selection of any wedding in our social circle thus far. It will be hard to top!

Meet the Team

Lainey  Cuff
Lainey Cuff
Sales and Events Manager

Lainey is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to hospitality and events and has been applying her expertise to L’Abattoir’s Private Dining Room events since 2015.

After finishing her Tourism and Hospitality education in the lower mainland, Lainey spent much of her early career in the Okanagan working at Mission Hill Family Estate as their Food and Beverage Coordinator. She spent her time learning all about the local wine industry alongside planning events from large corporate gatherings and concerts to intricate multi-course winery dinners.

Her passion for hospitality brought her back to Vancouver where she joined the opening team at Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar. While refining her skills even further and sharpening her wine knowledge, she also helped set the high standards of service that guests continue to enjoy today.

When Lainey joined the team at L’Abattoir, she brought her high standards and trained her private dining team to match the level of service that L’Abattoir guests had come to expect at one of the top restaurants in the country. She’s been integral in creating a private dining experience in Vancouver that is second to none.

After training her service team, Lainey moved into the Sales and Events Manager role where she can be found today. She is absolutely meticulous and covers every detail with her clients to ensure nothing is missed and an unforgettable experience is had by every guest.
