About

Aberthau Mansion is located in West Point Grey and is part of the local community centre. This heritage building was designed by renowned architect Samuel Maclure in the early 1900’s. Its Tudor Revival style architecture, stained glass windows, hardwood interiors, and gardens draw many soon-to-be-married couples who are planning a small to mid size wedding at an elegant location.

Facilities and capacity

This mansion's facilities include the Lounge, Dining Room, Oak Room, Library, Garden area, Getting Ready Room, and warming Kitchen for catering services. Aberthau Mansion is perfect for a wide range of events, including weddings, cocktail parties, showers and other celebrations. The event spaces offered can accommodate up to 90 guests for a sit-down dinner or 110 guests for a cocktail-style reception. The maximum capacity is 120 people.

Stressful rude staff

Sad to say our pre wedding celebration was made really stressful by the staff here. While it’s a beautiful location, management was rude, difficult, and disorganized.

After booking months in advance, the week of my event I found out the events manager went on vacation without telling me or relaying any of our conversations to someone else. When I called the week of my wedding to check in, Jesse and Eric were incredibly rude and unaccommodating. This continued on the day of our event.
Whatever the case was, their employee made the mistake and we did not deserve that level of rudeness and negativity, especially on my wedding week, the added stress sadly put a damper on our event.

I would not recommend anyone host an event that’s important to them here.

Aberthau Mansion is a complete hidden gem

If it hadn't have been for weddingwire, I never would have known such a venue existed. First of all, it's a community centre so you can rent it without breaking the bank (and you also know your money is going towards community building - something very important to me), but it is also an ABSOLUTELY STUNNING tudor-style mansion. We got to have a mansion party, right by the beach, for our wedding, and the setting made everything feel so special and magical. People were amazed at how gorgeous the venue was, and since it's so beautiful, all we really needed to decorate it were flowers and fairy lights. The pictures look like it's out of a wedding magazine. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking to get married in Vancouver (as long as your guest list is 125 or less).

Aberthau Mansion is such a hidden gem! The Mansion itself is beautiful and thus very photogenic! You can let the building's true beauty speak for itself with minimum decorations.
It's a very affordable venue. All their rates are also listed on their website, no hidden fees. When we were unsure of certain charges, the staff there - Andrea specifically- was able to explain the services the charge includes.
The staff there was also very helpful. We left some personal belongings behind by mistake, they kept them for us so we could pick them up after our honeymoon.

Such a gorgeous venue! The staff are very friendly and quick to respond. We loved having our wedding here and would recommend it to anyone else wanting to host an event.

A summer wedding in Vancouver is amazing and Aberthau in the summer was just perfect. We had an amazing sunny day which made the venue more beautiful. The grounds are well kept and groomed with lots of large growth bushes like hydrangeas. We had both our ceremony (bottom level) and reception( Oak Room) at Aberthau. The one thing I wish they would change in there rules is having it end later than 11:00 and out by midnight. It just seems so early and such a waste of all your hard work setting everything up. Even though you aren't allowed to serve liquor that didn't bother our guests, we just made sure we had a good assortment of beer and wine for our guests.
