Blaylock built this magnificent summer home on 44 acres of prime waterfront real estate which was finished in 1935, in order to have a place to entertain his business guests, high-ranking military officials, and dignitaries from around the world. This structure is one of the first examples of Tudor-style architecture in North America. Boasting 16,000 square feet, there is plenty of room for your families and bridal parties, which makes us the perfect venue.

Beautiful venue, excellent staff!

The blaylock is such a perfect wedding destination, with being a wedding planner myself I got the chance to work with the experienced staff/owner. They were so organized, quick, diligent & had quite literally everything you could need! Having the accommodations on site is such a huge bonus with allowing the wedding party to be close to the venue & for all the vendors! They even have a pool for guests which is such a hit the day after a wedding. I will recommend this location to every single bride! Brett is an amazing owner, absolutely killing the event game.

Our AMAZING wedding weekend at Blaylock

Our wedding at Blaylock was great! Here are some of the highlights:
-Friendly staff. They were so helpful on the day of, it was amazing.
-Beautiful site. We toured in the winter and didn't get a chance to see it when the flowers were in bloom. From the highway, you can't really tell what it looks like, but once you are in the gardens it is Stellar. It was GORGEOUS the day of and the gardens were so cute!
-The staff work really hard to help you create something beautiful and help you and your vendors figure out how to do that (like where catering goes etc)
-Latest outdoor sound curfew in the area, which for an outdoor wedding was a big deciding factor. Other venues in places like Rossland have an 8:30 pm sound curfew and ask that everything is taken down by 9 (which is IMO a little unreasonable). So the fact this was later was great
-The option of staying on-site was PHENOMENAL and came in clutch for setting up, getting ready, and taking down. We had the keys to the mansion package and got the cottage and the extra day. That really helped us out when we were scrambling around and getting stuff set up and taking stuff down. We had all of our wedding party stay on site, which was fantastic and we even had a small pool party for everyone staying on site on the sunday to make clean up more fun.
-Tables and chairs are included, and they even help set up the ceremony chairs for you. HUGE plus for us, as an issue in the Nelson area is sourcing rentals. This was one less thing to rent which was great!
-Location was a highlight, as people could stay in Nelson and cab in/out as needed. If we had gone with our other options, it would have not worked out that way with hotels, cabs, etc.

Blaylock's gardens are such a beautiful place to get married. The scenery is amazing and the staff is very friendly. It is pretty pricey and you have to pay extra for chairs/tables/use of BBQ etc, but I still think it was worth it in the long run.

One downfall is that the bridal suite isn't really set up to get ready in. I was doing my own hair/makeup and the only full length mirror is behind the door in the bathroom, there isn't much space to put makeup/hair supplies. It would be difficult for a professional makeup artist to have a space to put their kit. On behalf of my groom, I wish they would have some sort of meat included in the breakfasts (which, while delicious, had egg but no meat.)

The bed was super comfortable and overall we had an amazing day.
