Burning Kiln Winery is a wedding venue located in St. Williams, Ontario. This elegant winery sits on a former tobacco farm and has been carefully designed to preserve the historical significance of the property. Burning Kiln gets its name from the old practice of tobacco farming and curing. The wedding space overlooks the venue’s 26 acres of vineyards and rolling hills.
Facilities and Capacity
The winery is nestled on 85 acres of land near the shores of Lake Erie. Its position offers visitors panoramic views over the local landscape. From the vineyards to the famous Long Point peninsula stretching into the lake, there is no shortage of stunning vistas here. Weddings are held in the Vineyard Pavilion, a covered space separate from the winery. The large pavilion is spacious enough for events of up to 150 guests. Its glass doors can open to allow guests room to mingle outside. It features a private patio and sweeping views of the property, ideal for both ceremonies and receptions. You can also choose to hold your ceremony outdoors where the photo opportunities are endless.
Couples who hold their wedding here will have access to fine red, white, rose and sparkling wines. The venue also offers a selection of local beverages for guests who prefer an alternative to wine. Delightful regional dishes are available for catering service in many styles including buffet, stations, and hors d’oeuvres. The catering team can help create a custom menu with scheduled tastings. For the convenience of the wedding couple, a dressing room is located on-site to get ready. Additionally, the venue features accommodations that can be rented for the night of the occasion.
The discovery of grapes along Lake Erie is credited to French explorers Dollier and Gallinée in the 17th century. The two were the first to pioneer this region, and they stumbled upon a lush landscape where sweet grapes grew in abundance. They created wine from them and realized the result rivalled French varietals. Later, the land housed a tobacco farm, the kiln of which still stands today. The winery’s owners pay homage to the property’s past and continue to carefully maintain the kiln.

The absolute best experience!
Thank you Burning Kiln and Ashley Verrall for giving us OUR DREAM WEDDING DAY!
Get ready because this is a LONG one! I have a lot to say because I am SO GRATEFUL to Ashley and the Burning Kiln!
Ashley had to answer a LOT of emails and was in constant communication with me. I had never put much thought into my wedding and I had NO idea what needed to be done or where to start! Ashley was ON IT! I am so grateful for all of her help from beginning to end. With her on board it was honestly like we had a full blown wedding planner!
Our big day could have been a disaster due to another company who robbed us and did not follow through! But thanks to ASHLEY and the Burning Kiln it truly was our dream wedding! So here goes…..
When Disaster Strikes:
Just 30hrs before the wedding we found out that the company we had hired to build a giant tent/structure for our outdoor reception was not upholding our contract (This was a SEPARATE company we had hired, NOT associated with the Burning Kiln). We paid more than $25 000 for a 300 person, solid structure with fully built-in elevated wooden floors. A day before the wedding we showed up to "pop-up" tents with water rushing through the ceiling and a rubber mat floor that may as well have been a yoga mat. IN A RAINSTORM. Disaster. We were told the building we had ALREADY PAID for was put up in Windsor and "that was that". WHAT?!?!
Ashley to the RESCUE!
Ashley Verrall SAVED THE DAY literally! I had called dozens of tent vendors and of course all the companies had either all their staff booked or all their tents rented (since it was only ONE DAY NOTICE). Ashley worked with 2 companies to have tents put up around the patio of the outdoor venue so that we could have the cocktail hour there (out of the rain) and we moved our reception to the Vineyard Pavilion (which was originally going to be for our cocktail hour). Perfect planning on Ashleys part made it possible to fit 200+ into a space meant for 150! (Giant harvest tables and all!)
With ALL of this, they were able to work with our florist and decorators to make sure that everything was PERFECT and more beautiful than we could have hoped for!
My now husband and I are still talking about how amazing Ashley was as solving a crisis and how perfect the Burning Kiln was for our big day! The pavilion was absolutely gorgeous for the reception! Especially when the big end doors were opened up and we had a beautiful view of the vineyard! It was the MOST BEAUTIFUL backdrop for the head table!
My husband and I did not have to worry about a thing! Even the little things were taken care of!
For example, prior to the reception, when the two of us were WAY out in the vineyard taking photographs, staff came out to offer us appetizers! IN THE RAIN!
Later, the staff noticed that we were busy walking around taking to people instead of eating our dinners, so they actually had dinners prepared for us later when things calmed down and we were able to eat (this was around 10pm when everyone was dancing and we were still given a HOT delicious meal!)
Another example is that we had a GIANT (10 foot) doughnut wall and more than 500 doughnuts along with a variety of sweet treats. Not only was the wall and dessert table ALWAYS stocked, but my husband's favourite doughnuts were set aside so that he could try them later in the evening!
Lastly, at the end of the night, Ashley and staff personally made SURE that everyone was transported safely to their glamping accommodations. This way we did not have to worry about anyone at the end of our night!
Not only did the day come together and everyone was dry (in a rainstorm), it was BEAUTIFUL, the staff were ALL WONDERFUL, and everything went off without a hitch on they day of!
My now husband and I are still talking about how amazing Ashley was and how perfect the Burning Kiln was for our big day! Looking back on pictures and videos still warms our hearts and brings tears to our eyes. Every time we talk about that day we both wish we could relive it OVER and OVER! The day was so unbelievably magical and we owe largely in part to Ashley and the Burning Kiln.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so very much!Sent on 13/09/2020

Would recommend in a heartbeat
The winery ended up being everything we wanted for our wedding and more. They offer an entire package which includes ceremony, reception, alcohol and caterer. It was the best type of one stop shopping I have ever been able to do. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful. There are so many locations within the winery that you can do your ceremony and/or your pictures afterwards.
Ashley from the event staff is absolutely amazing. She made us feel very calm and helped us set up all the meetings with the caterer. We also had a delicious wine tasting to get our first taste of our wedding wine! On the day of, she got through all the bumps in the road and we didn’t hear a word about it. We loved our day and all of our guests raved about how it was the best wedding they’ve ever been too!Sent on 18/01/2020

Created “Best Day Ever” Memories @ BKW
Working with Ashley and her team at Burning Kiln Winery was a fantastic experience. Everything from planning, coordinating all the vendors, organizing taste testing, and prompt and efficient communications along the way, the wedding day described by the bride and groom was their “Best Day Ever”. A year later - we are still talking and looking at the great wedding pics at BKW!Sent on 23/01/2020

Team of Burning Kiln Winery
My name is Ashley and I am the Events Manager at Burning Kiln Winery, located in beautiful Norfolk County. I have always found it so interesting to hear how people ended up where they are now. The world works in a funny way and I'm a strong believer of everything happening for a reason. Here's my story!
Growing up I had no idea what I wanted to be when I was older. I knew that I loved making people happy, it just took me a while to figure out that it was through the planning and execution of events. I graduated Recreation & Leisure Services from Mohawk College in 2014. I even took an additional certificate course in wedding planning, just for fun.
I thought my dream was to move to New York City and work for a big company, planning high class events and over the top weddings. I loved the city life and after a trip to NYC over the Christmas holidays (yes I stood in Times Square for the ball drop and yes I'm crazy), I realized that the big city was not for me.
I made the move from Hamilton to a cottage along the shores of Lake Erie, in Turkey Point for one of my favourite jobs- a Zipline Guide, Teambuilding Facilitator, Outdoor Education Programmer and Booking Agent at Long Point Eco-Adventures. Working outdoors at a facility that was dedicated to environmentally friendly practices was the best experience I could ask for. I was always in a good mood, meeting new people everyday who were there for a good time. I quickly fell in love Norfolk County, the history of the area, local food, upcoming wine and beer scene and small town charms.
A couple years later I offered to help across the road during a wedding at Burning Kiln Winery, which is LPEA's sister company. As a brand new wedding facility, the winery was in the process of developing packages in hopes of becoming a venue for events. It wasn't long before I realized that this was where I was meant to be. The Events Manager position became available and I've been planning weddings, bridal showers, corporate functions, anniversarys, concerts and more, ever since.
With a hard-working, organized and positive attitude I welcome the constant changes that inevitably arise in all stages of planning. Throw in the fact that I'm a sucker for romance and have been in a relationship with my best friend for the last 7 years... I'm a lover of love and special celebrations. The wedding process is so much fun for me and I want every step of the way to be enjoyable for you. Whether that's working directly with you on every little detail or coordinating it all so you can show up on the day and have fun.
Burning Kiln Winery is such a unique venue that offers stunning views, a brand new facility, award winning wines and a truly exceptional team of people and local vendors to make your special day happen. Norfolk County is a hidden gem- so wonderful that it has made this city girl fall in love with the country life.
Let's chat over a glass of wine and see if Burning Kiln is the venue for you! If not, at least you had the opportunity to learn a little bit more about Norfolk County (my new home), while drinking some amazing wine. Cheers!
