Absolutely perfect wedding venue for us!

We got married here a couple of weeks ago, and we're so grateful for our whole experience with the Yarrow Community Centre!

From when we were first looking into the venue last year, Carol corresponded with us promptly, met with us multiple times to show us the space and allow us to take measurements, and answered all of our questions leading up to the wedding (with surely many repeats along the way as we are a bit forgetful - sorry!). She has been lovely all throughout the process and we appreciated her gracious help.

We were working with a lower budget so knew we'd be doing a lot of DIY and would need decent allowance for preparation time and space. The Grand Hall was perfect for that. They already had tables and chairs, so we didn't need to worry about renting those (just tablecloths, and perhaps chair covers or sturdier chairs might have been ideal in hindsight); had a full kitchen attached that allowed us to work in there on food/drink-related tasks; was already set up with some nice chandeliers and string lights around the perimeter of the room; and to book the full "shoulder day" before to prepare for the wedding was only half the cost of booking the wedding day itself. There was also another large room in the building we were able to book for getting ready on the day. We didn't think we could afford to have a bigger wedding until we came across this venue that we both loved and knew we could work with.

Originally, we were hoping to have our ceremony outside under the trees, but since the forecast said rain we opted for our "Plan B" to set up inside and then transform the space for reception. That may have been my biggest disappointment personally as I was excited to be outside, but that is no fault of the hall's, and it is great that we had the option between the two spaces. We were still able to go after the ceremony to take pictures under the trees.

If anything, our real difficulties there were mainly technical - we had to play around with our rented sound system and bring in a transformer to get it to cooperate with the electricity, and the connection for the live stream was a bit spotty here and there. But those things were minor in the grand scheme of it all.

All-in-all, our experience was very positive, and we wouldn't have had our wedding anywhere else. It was perfect for us and we will always think of the space and our experience fondly!

Great Value

To have the shoulder days on Friday and Sunday for set up and take down makes this place perfect. Took us 14 hours on Friday to setup and 5 hours Sunday to tear down and it took so much stress off of day of, and for 1000 dollars for the full 3 days you won't find a better deal. Only thing is the floor but if your looking to not drop your life savings on a wedding but it still be nice 100% this is your place. The volunteers are all great and very nice.

Really good for what you Pay

The hall was so resonably priced! It really allowed us to have an amazing day and decorate our own way. It also allowed us to use more of our budget on food and the flowers.
Overall super easy to work with!

Carol was amazing to communicate with. She was so accomidating with all (3) of our visits to the hall. The hall is big and beautiful. The kitchen is huge and our parents loved using it. The lawn was the perfect place to have our ceremony. The price is outstanding. We had the hall for 3 days. It's so worth getting the hall the day before to decorate and the day after to take down. We would highly recommend the yarrow community Center.

We LOVED the Yarrow Community Centre. Staff was so friendly and accomodating of our special circumstances (we had some extenuating circumstances). Hall was beautiful and the park was perfect for outdoor ceremony! Excellent hall for a party. Our guests absolutely loved the ceremony cite with the trees above. Carol was amazing and answered every question we had (even the odd ones hubby had) with pleasant and happy exchanges. I will definately be booking here for future events!

Perfect for DIYers!

We are so happy we chose the Yarrow Community Centre for our wedding! It was the perfect space for our wedding size. Capacity is 200 but we had 100 people seated at the round tables, which left plenty of space for a dance floor and moving around. The back park is a great photo space (or for the ceremony too but we did ours inside) as well as the adjacent dyke. It was nice not to have to move everyone from one location to the other for the reception. We had lots of parking space leftover too.

Carol is fantastic to deal with and will help you with any info you need: hall floor plan, table and chair sizes etc. It was easy to plan out the space ahead of time to make set-up day go smoothly. We learned that it is much more affordable to buy the decor ourselves instead of renting (with the hopes of reselling too).

There was also an option to rent the south room down the hall for the wedding day, which turned into my dressing and hide-out area before the ceremony.

One warning I have to give is: be prepared for mosquito season. The Vedder River is close by and there were some mosquitos in the backyard later in the day. We packed Off spray and hung sheer curtains over any open doors which kept them out. A minor inconvenience compared to everything else you get for a great price!

So if you are looking for an affordable all-in-one venue, with the freedom to bring in your own decor and vendors of your choosing, this is your best bet!

What a great place to have a wedding reception . Size was great for the amount of people I had. Has a great outside area where we had games set up. Close to the river for great sunset photos. Full size kitchen and walk in cooler. Defiantly a great venue. Highly recommended
