Cornerstone Theatre is a wedding venue located in Canmore, Alberta.
Whether you want to celebrate in the open air, in a cozy space, or while enjoying both, Cornerstone can make it happen. With the scenery of the grand Rocky Mountains to enjoy and ample grounds to explore, this venue would be ideal for the adventurous types. Similarly, couples who want a rustic retreat for their wedding are sure to be vowed by the luxury and refinement of the overall experience.
Facilities and Capacity
For the ceremony, it would be difficult to find too many destinations that boast such breath-taking scenery for the “I do” moment. An outdoor setup at either Canmore Ranch or Rundleview Parkette offers views of the mountains. Here, couples can take in the fresh air as they say their vows and exchange rings. Imagine selecting one of these locations, with tall trees framing the snow-scattered slopes as you officially become newlyweds. As the moment unfolds, guests can watch with pride and emotion. There is space for ample seating so that invitees can be comfortably accommodated. When the weather is not going according to plan, an indoor space can easily be arranged. Indeed, these sheltered celebrations of love and commitment can be embellished expertly with rental items, linens, decorative pillars, and more. After the couple has been officially joined in matrimony, photo opportunities can be enjoyed as the moment is elegantly marked.
For the reception at Cornerstone Theatre, a rustic, yet refined, barn is available. Here, up to 200 guests can comfortably be accommodated as new memories are made and good times roll. A stage provides space for the couple’s chosen entertainment to set up and perform as everyone dances the night away.
A variety of wedding packages are available for couples to choose from. Depending on which option is selected, there are different inclusions. Some of these features include bar service, audiovisual, decor and more. Every couple is assigned a wedding coordinator to guide and assist the couple with planning their special occasion. For dinner, couples and their guests will savour outstanding food such as hors d’oeuvres, buffets, cocktail receptions, plated meals and more.

Amazing 2020 wedding
Nick and I had our reception at Cornerstone 08/15/2020 and what an amazing night! They went above and beyond to make sure we had the night of our dreams, even during these Covid times. The food was definitely a highlight, everyone couldn't stop coming back to us with great praise. We are so happy that we decided to go through Cornerstone and would recommend to anyone getting married.Sent on 09/09/2020

Taking advantage of couples during Covid
Something we can learn from this pandemic is watching how organizations treat their customers.Sent on 14/05/2020
The government has been urging people “to do the right thing” from the beginning of this pandemic while Cornerstone has totally taken advantage of their couples who can’t get married due to Covid this summer .
We were scheduled and hopeful to get married this summer. However, due to Covid it would not be safe. We contacted the venue and were given three options.
1. 50% refund of what the customer has paid if you cancel at any time - we argued for a full refund as NO SERVICES were rendered but they would not budge. If we wanted a full refund we would have to do the next option.
2. Full refund if you wait until two weeks before your wedding date - but you have to continue to make thousands of dollars in payments until that point and if the government gave the venue the ok to proceed two weeks before the date - you better be ready or you’ll be in an even worse position, because if you cancel at that point then the 50% portion that they’ll keep is even greater. This is extremely inconsiderate when many couples have lost jobs and are on government support due to the pandemic.
3. Postpone to 2021 - this venue knows they book up almost two years in advance so many couples will not be able to find a date that works for them in 2021. There was no reasonable availability.
All of these options are unfair and add no value to client who is going through unimaginable times because they physically can’t have the wedding they were paying and planning for.
On top of all this, they’re now offering elopement packages which means they will now be making money on the dates of couples who had to cancel their wedding date this summer. They’re making money on dates that they already kept 50% of what couples originally paid for, but who had to cancel their wedding because they couldn’t wait until the two week mark because it’s a PANDEMIC and the health, safety and well-being of their guests comes first.
In our situation we had to cancel sooner than two weeks and Cornerstone kept half of the thousands we paid to them with absolutely NO SERVICES RENDERED and they’re able to make money on what our date would’ve been, by now hosting elopements. We could not continue to pay thousands of dollars for a wedding we knew wouldn’t be able to happen. Most of our guests would’ve had to travel from out east and many are high risk. So we were put in a position where if we didn’t cancel, we’d have to continue to pay thousands of dollars. What kind of organization puts their clients in such a situation in these unprecedented times? One that is solely taking advantage of their clients.
This is a pandemic. The government has support in place for businesses but there’s nothing in place from the government to support couples who’ve had to cancel their weddings, one of the most important days of their life, that they’ve spent tons of money, time and dream planning. I understand that everyone is in a very tough spot financially during these times but when the government has support for businesses and you put policies in place like this, you should be totally ashamed of yourselves.
Cornerstone has fully taken advantage of their couples, taking thousands from them with NO SERVICES RENDERED during a global crisis. Instead of doing the right thing and refunding services because they can’t fulfill their contractual obligations due to Covid - they have kept the money of clients who are basically victims to their policies.
If you’re considering this venue for your wedding, please keep in mind how they’ve acted in these times. I’m not one to write official reviews but after seeing how amazing other venues and our other vendors have been to their customers, it’s so important people know what they’re getting into when they sign with Cornerstone. Cornerstone has shown their true colors and a lack of integrity as it’s all about the money.
