Our Dream Wedding
Now for the important stuff - the food and the drinks. HOLY SHIT was it ever phenomenal! Starting with the passed canapes, we got the cauliflower croquette, mushroom puff pastry, chicken skewers, pork belly bao, tuna tataki, and salmon tartare and they were so so so good! They were all so tasty, fresh, the texture was spot on, the size of all of them were perfect, the bao being quite substantially large, and the rest being perfect 2 biters. Into the seated meals, we had the burratini salad, which was spectacular seeing as who doesn't love a big piece of burrata topping their salad, and the faro and heirloom carrots made for a delicious fall salad. The entrées were the potato gnocchi, beef short rib, and miso cod, and they were all spectacular. The guests at our wedding were RAVING about how tasty everything was, how great the presentation was, and the professionalism of all the staff serving the food in perfect unison. The deserts (wall of donuts) were so tasty too and the presentation was great, and the late night snacks did not disappoint with burgers and french fries (who doesn't love burgers and french fries).
As for the drinks, the bar was spot on, guests being served quickly and efficiently, and they most definitely poured the drinks with a heavy hand - they did not skimp/water down the beverages at all. We had 2 signature cocktails, and the bar menu was out as well and it looked so impressive with guests drinking martinis, manhattans, margaritas, and everything in between. There was never a line, and even after the reception when the guests filed out for the cocktail hour, they did not have to wait which was very important to us. Overall, the bar was fucking lit, and facilitated so much dancing and great times.
If you're still reading this, and still deciding which venue to go with, just know that Second Floor will provide you with the wedding of your dreams, bar none best night of your life! This venue was so special and amazing and we could not have asked for anything more.
Would recommend 100%

The Most Beautiful Day!
The Perfect Wedding Venue!

Great vibe and delicious custom vegan menu!
A wonderful night!!
First of all, the venue itself is stunning. With gorgeous brick, a beautiful bar running down the length of the venue and greenery in the shelving behind it, along with huge windows for natural light, there is very little need for additional decoration - the venue provides an atmosphere of it's own. We LOVED the light boxes, and had a lot of fun selecting photos. Our guests really enjoyed this.
Ideally located on King Street, there were many hotels within walking distance, and the venue provided a list of hotels they partner with. Our guests found the space no problem. There is no venue-specific parking, but being downtown this is to be expected. There are many paid lots in the area. There are of course lots of interesting alleys and other downtown spaces for unique and interesting photos. They also provided security at the door to ensure that no weekend revelers found their way into our event, and only our invited guests were in the space.
The room dividers made for such an ingenious use of space, we loved the way the space transformed and created a really unique experience for our guests.
We were provided with a bridal suite and a key to keep our belongings during the night (which worked well for my breastfeeding bridesmaids to have privacy).
Cindy was our coordinator and was so incredibly helpful. She answered all of our (many) questions, and provided suggestions for anything that they weren't able to accommodate. She was friendly, enthusiastic, and clearly passionate about ensuring we had the event we were dreaming of. She worked with our vendors to arrange the day and helped to make sure all went smooth.
One of the reasons we chose Second Floor was because it was essentially a one-stop shop. Basically everything to do with the venue was managed through Cindy – the drinks, the food, the linens, the tables, the chairs, the decorations (which we were also able to choose and bring in our own if we did not want the offerings they provided), ceremony space, etc. It was important to me that we have one per-head price, and then just decide on what the details were instead of arranging all elements ourselves and we were really happy with how everything was managed.
We were not able to hold our rehearsal in the space due to an event being held the night before, but we were offered the space in other time slots - we just preferred to have it the evening before and so made other arrangements, this was not a big deal at all for us!
Food – the tasting that was arranged was basically a fun date night for us, and that alone was a lovely time. The chef took the time to come speak to us about each dish, all of which were fantastic. We chose the braised short ribs, the lemon-herbed chicken supreme and the beluga lentil ragout as our meals and let me tell you I was SO excited to offer our vegetarian and vegan friends a meal that was RAVED about afterwards. We had a handful of guests with dietary needs and the venue handled these no problem, taking the initiative to ask us about who had what needs, and offering a menu with appetizers and late night choices that could accommodate many different dietary needs, all of our guests ate well and were happy – I cannot say enough about how great the food was!
COVID wise, we were married during one of the COVID surges, and were very conscious of providing our guests with a safe experience. The venue was more than happy to work with our requests and additional safety measures that we desired to make ourselves and our guests feel as safe as possible.
In relation to this, we had about a fifth of our guest list fall ill and were unable to attend in the 72 hours before our event. A large portion of this group unfortunately discovered they were ill on the day of. The venue handled these last minute changes incredibly, quickly working with my husband to adjust the seating plan so that there were not holes and empty spaces, but a lovely dispersion of friends and family throughout the space – without significantly changing our layout. They also allowed my husband to overhaul the seating chart in the first place, so we could really customize and personalize our layout within their parameters.
The night itself was smooth – service was great, our guests ate in a timely fashion, everyone was well taken care of. The bar staff were friendly and quick, and at the end of the evening the venue kindly collected all of our candles that we brought in and held them for us, so we could pick them up on the Monday (these were provided by our florist and we had completely forgotten we had purchased them and would need to collect and take them home, so it was really nice that they helped us out with that!)
Thank you to all at Second Floor for the effort you made in ensuring we had a great wedding, and our guests had a great time. It was amazing!
