Located in Toronto, Ontario, Helen Sweet is a professional wedding officiant and owner of The Brides' Project. She has conducted well over 1000 weddings since she started officiating in 2006, including multicultural, interfaith, LGBTQ+, gender neutral, light, fun, and even the occasional pirate wedding. Helen is happy to just cover the legal requirements of a marriage, or work with you to create a personalized and unforgettable wedding ceremony.

100% recommend!

Helen officiated our wedding earlier this summer, and we couldn't recommend her more. We received several compliments on our ceremony from our guests. Helen was warm and personable on the day of the wedding and in the weeks before it. We felt we were in good hands every step of the way because she was so helpful in explaining details and preparing us. We appreciated that she was knowledgeable about our venue, wedding customs, and the wedding industry in general. And of course it was a pleasure to meet her cat, who "blessed" our marriage license. Brides: also be sure to also check out her Brides Project store. Although I didn't end up finding my dress there, I was really glad that a social enterprise like it exists in Toronto. Helen knows her stuff!

Helen was a wonderful officiant and a joy to work with. She helped us create a beautiful ceremony that was tailor-made for us and our story. Right from our first meeting, we could tell how experienced and knowledgable she was, which had already provided us with a lot of comfort. And when we were standing up at the alter, feeling all of our feels in front of 200 of our closest family and friends, Helen's calming voice and presence made it easy to get through the ceremony and stay focused on the vows we were making that day. We had Helen officiate our wedding for us just over a month ago and couldn’t have asked for someone better. I appreciated the fact that Helen offered in-person meetings and it felt a lot more personal, especially in today’s society where most meetings are held virtually. Helen was the perfect officiant for our wedding ceremony in Toronto. She made the entire experience feel personal, meaningful, and exactly what we had hoped for—short and sweet. She also assistant us in vow making process which helped structure the vows better. From the very beginning, Helen provided clear, detailed guidance to help us prepare for the big day. She walked us through every step, from obtaining our marriage license to completing everything needed for the official marriage certificate after we got married. Her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail truly made the process smooth and stress-free. We couldn’t have asked for a better officiant.

Work with Helen! You’ll love it!

We absolutely loved working with Helen! Here’s a short list of the reasons why she’s the best!
1. She was, by far, the most responsive of all of our vendors. We’d send her an email and she’d respond almost immediately with helpful information. While we were stressing about getting responses from other folks working on our wedding, we never had to stress with Helen!
2. She was a super helpful guide throughout the process. We didn’t have a clear idea on what we wanted to do for our ceremony, but she really helped us along the way. She explained everything clearly, and helped us shape a memorable event for us and our families.
3. She’s really nice! She was enjoyable to hang out with as we sorted out the details of our ceremony. Very hospitable, and she’s got a really cute cat too!

Helen is a Sweet-heart

Thank you to Helen for officiating our elopement. She is incredibly warm, friendly and inclusive in many ways. Even though our ceremony was quite low key, she made every moment of it easy to cherish and provided little personalizations that were incredibly valued. Very helpful in guiding us thought he process (we were new to the whole thing, as one would imagine). Highly, highly recommended a thousand times over!
