Lisa and her team is AMAZING! I can't thank her enough for planning and coordinating my dream wedding. The whole experience exceeded my expectations. Lisa was so responsive and organized from the day I contacted her to the wedding day.
She knows the best vendors and gives the best advice. She saved me so much time from those back and forth long emails to vendors. I was seriously blown away when I walked in to our ceremony & reception. It was everything I dreamt of and MORE! I felt zero stress the day of my wedding. The whole team was very detail orientated even my guest noticed. For example, when I needed to be blindfolded for games, Eva put sunglasses on me first then the blindfold so it won't ruin my make up. She always made sure everyone including our families were taken care of. They helped me with my dress, shoes, hair all day and made sure we were picture perfect. Thank you again Lisa, Eva, Michelle, Alex, Jon for everything! Please don't cheap out on a wedding planner, it was the best investment ever! It may seem pricey at first but trust me, the amount of work they put in, they are underpaid. They are not your average wedding planner/coordinator. They have a WHOLE TEAM!!!

My husband and I got engaged in December 2021 and were married in July 2023. Shing Weddings, ran by Lisa and Michelle, we had hired after pouring over other planners and interviewing dozens. They have been with us for a little under two whole years and every week they were more organized and on top of everything than none of us could've ever imagined.

My husband is Chinese and I am western. Two very separate cultures - Michelle and Lisa both speak Mandarin, Cantonese, and English; making not just the planning of the two cultures work in sync (especially with the many challenges and differences we had to overcome), but also easing the communication.

Leading up to our wedding, Michelle sent out emails long before needed, and both Michelle and Lisa got us organized ourselves with easy homework and assignments to keep us up to date on what we needed to do. She reminded everyone as needed and many of my other vendors as well as our venue (Fraser River Lodge) spoke highly of our planners and their communication.

My family had many arguments in meetings, that would make most people uncomfortable to idly witness; Michelle and Lisa took everything in grace and was able to turn any negative or animosity experiences into something positive and productive.

Day of, Michelle and Lisa had two other coordinators on site - Alex for the groom, Eva for me (the bride). Eva was everything I needed and more. Come to find out, Eva is highly sought after for her work and has traveled the world doing day of coordination - and I'm not surprised in the least. I had no direct experience with Alex but if he's anything like Eva, he would've been fantastic too.

Michelle and Lisa are professional, therapeutic, organized, kind, considerate, on top of everything... utterly fantastic. My family paid around $15,000 for two years worth of time as well as extra assistants to the day. They are worth well beyond that. (I was actually under the impression for a long time that we paid them $20,000, and even I thought that was inexpensive.) For everything that they do, are, and provide, they are worth tens of thousands more.

I recommend Shing Weddings because they are legitimately the best planners in Vancouver, BC (and I say this as someone who regularly plans events as well). One of the most important decisions you will ever make when planning your wedding is hiring your planner and day of coordinators, and you absolutely need Shing Weddings to be apart of your day.

The team worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly, allowing us to focus on making beautiful memories. Jon was simply amazing walking around and making sure that everyone was okay and provided water to my bride and I while taking photos ( I would have never thought that it was needed). Hanna, was right beside the bride for every photo that was taken to fix her hair and fix my pocket square (They put in so much work and effort to this chaotic day).

Their commitment to our satisfaction was evident in their post-wedding follow-up and support. They genuinely cared about our experience and went above and beyond to address any concerns or requests we had.

We started the wedding planning process unsure of whether we needed a wedding planner. ​​Ultimately, I'm extremely grateful that we not only ended up hiring one, but also because we ended up with Shing Weddings.

With their extensive experience, Lisa and her team (Nancy, Alex, Jon, Amari, Sarah, Emily, Hannah) helped us organize our Dream Wedding for over 100 guests in two separate venues--the afternoon ceremony at Hycroft Manor, and the evening cocktail & dinner reception at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia. Shing Weddings is not the cheapest among planners, but as the adage goes, you get what you pay for.

During the planning process, Lisa was professional, reassuring and responsive. She is culturally aware, as well as emotionally sensitive, particularly when it comes to our complicated family dynamics.

Approaching the actual wedding day in December, we were faced with heavy snow which caused travel chaos both in and out of Vancouver (75% of our guests were from out of town), as well as within Vancouver between the two venues. Thankfully, Lisa and her Team calmly and seamlessly navigated the challenges --they made it look so easy (which I'm sure was not!)!

Ultimately, the result was a beautiful snowy winter wedding that was flawlessly executed and where our guests have said it was the most fun & beautiful wedding they had ever attended!

We are extremely happy with the Full Wedding Planning Experience provided by Lisa and her team at Shing Weddings, who helped us plan our wedding in Vancouver while we live in Toronto. The true value in Lisa and her team was not only the flawless execution but also her ability to translate our vision and personality into the event itself. We received an overwhelming amount of praise from all our guests, friends and families alike, especially commenting on how the wedding was authentically us.

Lisa is very knowledgeable about the industry and it is evident that she is truly passionate with her work. Food is very important to us and is something that we want our wedding to stand out for, and we are happy that Lisa came with a lot of experience managing catering services from her previous career. She reached out to our favorite restaurants to potentially provide catering for our wedding, and we saw her guide a restaurant owner to develop a sample menu and a quote. After we decided not to engage with the restaurant owner, Lisa helped us find the right catering company, and worked with them to develop a customized menu which reflected our taste. Our review is simplifying the process as there were so many details that Lisa was working through with our caterer and other vendors. Details as trivial as changing plates after serving the fish, yet so important as these are the details that elevated the guest experience and without a professional planner like Lisa, they are easily overlooked by the couple.

On our wedding day, we were so grateful for the presence of Lisa and her day-of-coordination team (Alex, Jocelyn, Jon and Tim). Before the day, our friends and family kept warning us that it is normal for the couple to have no time to eat, and feel hungry and exhausted during the whole day. However, Lisa’s team made us feel so pampered and stress-free that we were able to thoroughly enjoy the whole day while staying reasonably fed and hydrated. There was always someone on her team ready to hold our bouquet or drinks when a conversation with guests turned into a quick group photo. They always found the perfect breaks between our interactions with guests or songs on the dance floor, to feed us a quick bite, top up our drinks or to offer water. Lisa’s team is highly experienced and prepared for any “emergencies” that could happen on a wedding day. Two of our guests ripped their pants (because we were having so much fun!) and Lisa was prepared to come to their rescue.

Last but not least, Lisa genuinely cares for her couples. During the planning process, when we sought her advice when our out-of-town guests with a toddler had a question, Lisa went above and beyond to personally help with their situation; and when we received disagreements on certain details from our family, Lisa offered her perspective from past experience and gave thoughtful advice which helped us arrive at amicable solutions. After the wedding, we also learned from our guests that we were not the only ones that got fed with quick bites on the dance floor by Lisa. All our family and friends adore Lisa and we all had the greatest time. We can’t recommend her enough to anyone planning a wedding in Vancouver!

To any couples out there planning a wedding, we highly recommend Michelle and Shing Weddings. From the early planning stages to our wedding day, Michelle had been with us every step of the way and had honed in on every detail, minor or major. We believe she must have been in the military in a previous life because of her unbelievable attention to detail, and ability to execute a lengthy 20-hour wedding day event, with that intense and accurate military-precision. Everything was coordinated flawlessly, from the photographers and videographers, emcees, hair and makeup team, florist and decor, photobooth, DJ, venue reception, to the installation of the dance floor. We celebrated our special union at three locations, and each event was a huge success. My hard-to-please Vietnamese parents were super impressed by everything, which if you know Asian parents, this speaks volumes.

We all know wedding celebrations are expensive, and we couldn’t imagine spending all that money and leaving it up to chance about how the day will go. We needed insurance, and that insurance was Michelle and the Shing Team. We felt entirely at ease and had zero stress in the days leading up to the wedding and on our wedding day. We only felt overwhelming love and joy. Shing Weddings was the best investment we made in our wedding, and we received an immeasurable return on the investment. It was quite the daunting task of planning a 200-person wedding at three venues but Michelle helped guide us through every step. No question was too silly and no detail was too insignificant. Our wedding day was truly the happiest day of our life, and we are eternally grateful to Michelle and the Shing Team.

Shing Weddings was amazing. They really cared for me from A-Z for my wedding day regardless of the package I chose. Sometimes, I felt like they are doing more than they should have. Lisa, Michelle, Anh and my apologies but the last two gentlemen I met on the day of my wedding, were amazing. I don't normally write reviews, but felt it was the least I can do for the amazing job the team at Shing Weddings did for our wedding. Michelle was our planner and she went above and beyond at easing the stress during the planning process and making our wedding day run as smoothly as possible. She was there to guide us every step of the way, communicating and coordinating with our vendors and wedding party, to make sure everyone was on the same page. I really appreciated how she would spend time with our parents and family members to make sure their needs were met. The planners during the day of the wedding helped amazingly. My wife felt that there was always someone there who was able to read our minds, and provided the relief we needed before we even knew we needed it ourselves.
