About
Vancity Officiant is a Vancouver-based wedding officiant team specializing in meaningful, guided wedding ceremonies in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
Since 2014, we have officiated thousands of weddings across Vancouver and British Columbia, helping couples create ceremonies that feel clear, genuine, and deeply human.
But what makes us different is not simply the number of ceremonies we have performed.
It is how we understand the purpose of a ceremony itself.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Many wedding ceremonies are approached as a collection of steps.
An entrance.
A reading.
A vow exchange.
A ring exchange.
A signature.
A kiss.
To us, these are not the ceremony.
They are simply the structure that supports something much more important.
A wedding ceremony is a moment of acknowledgment.
A moment when two people openly recognize their commitment to one another, and allow the people around them to witness it.
Our role is not to help couples perform a ceremony.
Our role is to help them experience it.
GUIDED, NOT SCRIPTED
We believe most couples do not need more decisions.
They need more clarity.
Rather than asking couples to build a ceremony from scratch, we provide a thoughtfully guided structure developed through thousands of real ceremonies.
This allows couples to remain present, relaxed, and connected to the moment itself, instead of worrying about what comes next.
The goal is not customization for its own sake.
The goal is creating an experience that feels natural, meaningful, and true to the relationship being celebrated.
CULTURAL TRANSLATION, NOT JUST TRANSLATION
As trilingual officiants serving English, Cantonese, and Mandarin-speaking families, we understand that language alone is not enough.
Many ceremonies involve multiple generations, cultural traditions, and different expectations about marriage and family.
Our role is often to act as cultural translators, helping people understand not only what is happening, but why it is meaningful.
This is especially valuable for multicultural weddings, bilingual ceremonies, and Chinese tea ceremonies, where meaning can easily be lost when reduced to simple instructions.
A CEREMONY DESIGNED FOR EVERYONE PRESENT
While a wedding ceremony begins with the couple, it is rarely experienced by the couple alone.
Parents, family members, friends, and chosen family all bring their own stories and relationships into the room.
A meaningful ceremony acknowledges those connections as well.
We intentionally create ceremonies that help everyone present understand, participate in, and feel connected to the moment being shared.
PET-INCLUSIVE CEREMONIES
Through our Pawfect Witness™ initiative, we also help couples include the animals who have played meaningful roles in their lives.
We do not see pets as wedding accessories.
We see them as relationships worthy of acknowledgment.
Whether physically present or remembered symbolically, animals can be included in ways that honour the bond they share with the people who love them.

WHO WE SERVE
We are often chosen by couples who are not looking for the most elaborate wedding ceremony.
They are looking for a ceremony that feels genuine.
A ceremony that is guided rather than overwhelming.
A ceremony that helps them focus on their commitment rather than the performance surrounding it.
For those couples, a wedding ceremony is not simply the beginning of an event.
It is the reason the event exists in the first place.
