As we planned our wedding, we wanted to find an officiant who could officiate the ceremony in English, but also provide some scripts in Cantonese for our family to understand. We had the pleasure of having Kit Chan as our officiant for our wedding and she was absolutely amazing!
She provided lots of detail in a zoom call with us, months prior to the wedding to make sure she knew what our needs were. She responded immediately to emails leading up to the wedding and showed up early to the venue to make sure everything was in the right place for the ceremony.
Kit provided a fluent and engaging script in both English and Cantonese for us, and also provided some guidance when we hesitated in some of the moments. We highly recommend Kit as an officiant if you want an engaging and smooth ceremony!Vancity Officiant's reply:

I knew I wanted Kevin to be our officiant as soon as we secured a date and venue for our wedding. This was over a year in advance when I reached out to Kevin. He kindly suggested I contact him again within the year for a more realistic timeline. I vividly remember reaching out to him on the exact one-year mark before our wedding. I just knew it had to be Kevin and no other officiants because I was so impressed when I saw him officiate my friend's wedding a few years back, and his name had always stuck with me.
We can't thank Kevin enough for being such an incredible officiant on our wedding day. Despite the intense atmospheric river storm and wind, with rain constantly coming at him, Kevin remained calm and professional. His back was probably soaked, but he kept his composure and delivered a beautiful ceremony.
We also loved the personal touches Kevin offered. He provided a selection of rituals, and we chose the plant ritual, which added such a meaningful and unique element to our ceremony. We now have a plant baby to take care of in our new home as newlyweds. His fluency in both English and Cantonese was a huge plus, as some of our guests spoke only one or the other, making the ceremony accessible and heartfelt for all.
Even though we only met Kevin in person once, during the rehearsal before the wedding, we felt that he really took the time to understand our family dynamics. His guidance during the rehearsal was super helpful in prepping us and our families for the big day. When he noticed that my husband's mom had difficulty walking, he kindly offered to assist her in getting from her chair to the signing table without hesitation. He truly cared about the flow of events, the placement of things, and the overall vision of the ceremony.
We also appreciated how Kevin was mindful of the photography. Without us asking, he instinctively stepped out of the frame during our first kiss, ensuring the moment was captured perfectly. As we look back at the photos, we were pleasantly surprised to see that he had stepped aside again when we exchanged our personal vows — such a small but incredibly thoughtful touch.
We are so grateful for Kevin’s professionalism, kindness, and the care he put into making our wedding ceremony unforgettable. Thank you, Kevin, for braving the storm and making our day truly perfect! -

Our wedding planner recommended Kevin as our officiant for our wedding, and he was the best! We had a bilingual English/Mandarin wedding and Kevin was flawless in both languages. He made our guests feel comfortable and his delivery and script were amazing. He helped guide us each step of the way, and even if we forgot what to do next, he was there to subtly nudge us along.
We will forever be grateful to Kevin for incorporating a memorial/tribute for our dog, Amethyst, who passed away two days before the wedding. We messaged him the day before to let him know the news, and he generously and seamlessly worked in a portion of our ceremony for Amethyst at our request.

It was such shocking and heartbreaking news to me when you told me that Amethyst crossed the Rainbow Bridge the day right after our rehearsal and just 2 days prior to your wedding. As a dog lover and pawparent, I believe I know how you feel, but no words were able to comfort you. Thank you so much for your trust in me that I was able to include Amethyst into part of your love story and to share it with all your friends and family at the ceremony. Vancity Officiant was truly amazing. Kevin was the best officiant we could've asked for. He was very professional, kind, and personable. His sense of humour was admirable and definitely took off loads of stress during the most stressful time in our lives! The team's response to emails was always quick and professional.
