Awesome wedding MC/DJ
We hired James as our MC/DJ on our wedding day. He did an amazing job making sure that the guests were entertained throughout our wedding reception. Thank you for making our wedding day memorable!

Unprofessional, inflexible and patronizing.
I had high hopes in working with James. He came recommended by our venue so I was anticipating quality service. We paid our deposit right away at the time of booking, and we paid the remaining balance prior even a little sooner than stipulated in his contract.

Unfortunately, our original wedding date was scheduled for April of 2020; however, due to the global pandemic, our province went into COVID lockdown approx. two weeks before the wedding. We, like many, many others, were forced to reschedule our wedding date to an equally uncertain date. I inquired about James' refund policy as this was an unprecedented circumstance for everyone. James advised that none of our money (that was already paid in full) was refundable. He did agree to move our date. In order to try to have all of my vendors available, again, on such short notice, we pushed our wedding date to February of 2021.
And again, unfortunately, our province was under even stricter COVID measures at that time and our choices were to either push the wedding again or proceed with the wedding. In order to proceed, we were only allowed to have 10 guests including the commissioner, bride and groom, ONLY a ceremony and NO reception period. These restrictions were renewed on Feb 5, 2021 and our wedding date was Feb 13, 2021.
I had not heard a single word from James since we rescheduled back in March of 2020 despite having been reached out to by all of my other vendors. When he did reach out, he spoke as though he knew nothing of the current COVID protocols in place. When I advised him that due to the restrictions, we were planning to proceed with only a ceremony (per the provinces' PHO) and that the venue advised there was no need for an MC/DJ, he seemed surprised.
I have many friends including a family member who is a wedding photographer so I know how difficult this pandemic has been on everyone and their livelihoods. As such, I would never ask for my money back; however, I did expect that James would offer some form of credit for when we decide to do a reception in the future - when we are NOT at the mercy of the provinces health orders. I know many professionals offering a credit with them so when a service can be rendered, they would do so. James refused to provide a credit or any form or refund to me. He said that this was the 'second event date' that I've had to cancel and that it was less than 7 days before the event - all of this as though my decisions were 'choices' and not at all governed by the global pandemic and our provinces legally enforceable health orders.
So, I paid James approx. $1,100 for a service that he refuses to render at ANY time due to the fact that I was forced, at the mercy of the province, to change my plans.
I didn't hire James with the intention of not fulfilling the major plans I had for my wedding. All of my other vendors were amazing about working with me to come to a resolution. My decorators were only able to fulfil a small portion of my decoration plans but they offered to keep a credit on file for me and to call them anytime I decided to have a reception or any other event.
Again, I understand how difficult the pandemic has been for everyone and I would never expect anyone to hand back money to all of the people booked to receive a service...but I do expect a service to be rendered for the money I paid. James has chosen to be an inflexible business owner and his last emails to me read as patronizing and arrogant.
Save yourselves the headache, and find someone else.

Awesome indeed!
We met James at a wedding show. The first impression was great, so when came the time to put our wedding plans in action we contacted him again. James was very efficient in answering our questions by text/emails and calls. We had a 1 hour consultation with him at the venue and he was open to all our questions. He also gave us access to an online library to pick songs and give him a clear direction as to what we liked. Since he is a fully licenced DJ, we could even add some music choices that were culturally relevant to us and not necessarily in his library via another popular music app. When came time to set up there was a situation where his equipment came into conflict with some elements of decor, but he kept cool and came up with a great solution. During the night he also took special requests. We would like to express our thanks to him and highly recommend his services to all. He is kind, reliable and very professional.

Perfectly automatic
James is a top notch DJ. He is so good, you don't even realize he's there. He gets things goings smoothly, and can step in as an MC without hesitation. He did a fantastic job and was able to handle our last minute details. We had no need to micromanage what he did. His timing was excellent and things worked out perfectly. We would highly recommend his services as a wedding DJ to anyone.

James Proulx
Owner / DJ / MC
My name is James Proulx.
After being born in the 70’s and going to high school in the 80’s, I started my DJ career in the 90’s. If you have ever been to a Suburb Club such as Mirage, Ozone, Cheers, The OB etc in BC or listened to Vancouver Radio, then you probably say to yourself… “I know that voice.” Besides polishing both my Club and Mobile DJ skills from 2000 on and playing with some great celebrities and musicians, I became one of BC’s most sought after MC’s. In 2006 I took my DJing to a whole new level becoming one of Canada’s first Video DJs, loving the fact that I can bring an exhilarating visual experience to an already stimulating audio event. In 2014 I decided to make the leap from part time Mobile DJing (Weddings, Schools, Corporate & Private) to full time and quit Clubs & Pubs all together.
I've been a DJ for more than 25 years and some of my favorite music artists and genres include Motown, Disco, Party Rock, 80’s, 90’s, Pop, House, R&B, Funk, and my absolute new favorite Country.
When I am not DJing events, I can be found spending time with family and friends. Taking in a Canucks, Giants, Lions, Whitecaps or Seahawks game. Going to some great concerts and festivals. Eating & drinking at new pubs and restaurants. Listening to new music and adding it to my collection... and somewhere finding some sleep to bring it all together.
I unquestionably love what I do, because I get to spend the best day of someone’s life with them and I get to do it all the time. I also have the privilage of being a part of great company milestones & celebrations. It is also so fulfilling seeing school kids experience a school dance. There is no better experience than that.
