We got married on August 16, 2025, in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and unfortunately, our experience with DJ Rod at Sound Choice Entertainment was incredibly disappointing. Despite providing detailed notes and clear instructions from our planner, it felt like nothing had been reviewed.

The most heartbreaking moment was when our mother–daughter dance was announced as a father–daughter dance. A deeply sensitive moment given our family dynamics, which he had been made fully aware of. That mistake was devastating and completely avoidable.

Further to that, the sound cut out completely during the groomsmen’s entrance, killing the energy of what should’ve been a fun, high-energy moment. Music transitions were rough, there were awkward gaps of silence, and the DJ often left the booth and was no where to be found, making it hard for guests to make requests. It seemed as though he made a playlist and just pressed the button. The “reading the room” judgement was so off on music choices. During a surprise flash mob planned by our wedding party, he even turned the music down mid-performance.

Multiple guests approached us and asked if he was intoxicated.

Several bridesmaids also came to me about inappropriate comments made throughout the night, which was uncomfortable and unprofessional. He spilled ketchup all over our head table, including keepsakes and a junior bridesmaid’s letter, walked through the middle of videos being recorded, and even pretended to snore during speeches.

The night felt chaotic, disorganized, and far from the professional experience we were promised. These were once-in-a-lifetime moments we can’t get back.

I emailed them following the wedding hoping a resolution could be reached without taking to a public post and didn’t even receive an apology.

Save yourself the heartache and choose another DJ

Caileigh was so easy to communicate with and did a great job with the music! We couldn’t ask for a better or more professional DJ!

Late starting the music for our walk down the aisle and the entrance of the wedding party to the reception, but other than that, Rod was pretty good and Caileigh helped us pick out songs for both by sending a list of suggestions.

Caileigh at Sound Choice is one of the kindest, sweetest people on the planet. She has been BEYOND helpful, flexible, and sincere to a bride who’s had a hard time getting their wedding day to arrive. Originally we were supposed to get married at White Point in May 2020, then September 2020, then on the ship Silva in May 2021, then FINALLY we were able to tie the knot in September 2021. Caileigh was so kind and sweet to me, and Her kindness and flexibility meant the world to me. I was having a hard time each postponement keeping my vendors, but Caileigh always found a way to make things work for us. I can’t recommend Sound Choice enough. They provided our ceremony music at the Marriott Harbourfront hotel, and then provided our dance music at the Lower Deck Tap Room. She played each song we wanted and really got the party going! It was an amazing night, and she is an amazing person!
