Deane House Restaurant & Gardens is an extraordinary setting in the heart of the city, at the confluence of the Elbow River & Bow River, surrounded by gardens. The restaurant features a series of carefully curated rooms, each with its own distinct character. In the charming, historic Inglewood neighborhood, with a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces, Deane House is the perfect setting for your special day.
Built in 1906 and named for the last superintendent of Calgary, Captain Richard Burton Deane. Moved twice, and eventually to its current location East of the river, Deane House graced the pages of Popular Mechanics for the extraordinary feat of engineering in the 1930’s that brought it to Inglewood. An old house with many lives, Deane has been a boarding house, art gallery, and long-time restaurant, reopening late summer of 2016 under new management. This award-winning waterfront restaurant and full-service venue offers a historic setting with lush gardens and a fantastic staff to create a wedding celebration that people will be talking about for years to come.
The group behind River Café celebrates Canadian cuisine with utmost dedication to the environment and sustainable practices, with strong roots in old world habits of warm, open handed hospitality. The newly renovated interior features a series of carefully curated rooms, each with its own unique character. The garden room, library, tenement bar and verandah each inspires taste of place, past and present. The sprawling green exterior, comprised of flourishing gardens and expansive lawns combine to create a stunning wedding backdrop.

Best Garden in the city
Unlike some, the pandemic really helped make our wedding special by forcing us to stay close to home. And we were very, very lucky to secure the Deane House for such a small wedding. Everything they did was absolutely perfect. The only thing I can add to all the other glowing reviews is this advice: Don't bring in an outside wedding cake, because the Deane House food will put it to shame and you'll be stuck with too much cake.
Also, if you get married during the Calgary Stampede & Exhibition, you'll have a great view of the fireworks.Sent on 19/07/2021

Excellent, attentive service, great food, friendly
The Deane House is a lovely, rustic and homey feeling venue. We were fortunate that the temperature was nice enough to hold our ceremony outside, as it was late April and Calgary weather is unpredictable! Even though the flowers had not bloomed yet, the location itself by the river is still beautiful. The restaurant is small, and the space is not completely open-more like being in your own house with many rooms set up for dining, however it worked well for our 55 guest wedding. The dance floor is the center dining room, so it is small, but for a smaller sized celebration it works well with an intimate feeling. I’m not sure how hot it would get on a summer night as it was quite hot in that dance area on a cool night and keeping noise levels down is a prime concern after a certain time so the patio doors had to remain closed. The food was great and both the kitchen and the bar worked patiently with us to create a menu we were happy with. Reserving the entire restaurant was the right decision for us as we had picture opportunities upstairs in the private library, my children and I began our walk to ceremony from upstairs and we stored our coats, purses, centerpiece and flower boxes(all the wedding luggage) there. For dinner, the seating plan we made worked out very well and my husband and I sat at the bar where we were able to view most of our guests. We had a magical ceremony and a fantastic “Deane House Party” to celebrate our wedding day.Sent on 04/05/2019

Dream come true!
What a dreamy venue! Kelly, the venue's event planner, was great to work with, and took such good care of us. The tent set up was great, and easily accommodated our 120 guests. The food was incredible and the service was amazing.Sent on 29/03/2019
