About

On WeddingWire since 2016

Time goes by slowly at the Fraser River Lodge. This pristine venue is located near Agassiz, British Columbia at the foothills of the spectacular Cascade Mountains. The lodge is an idyllic venue for weddings of all sizes, both indoor and outdoor. A more private venue is hard to find as you will have 18 lush acres to take full advantage of. This exclusive venue can be yours on the big day!

Facilities and capacity

The indoor hall can accommodate up to 200 wedding guests, while the Lounge seats 35 people for dinner. For ceremonies, the deck can accommodate 50 guests, the field allows for 200 guests, and the outdoor Marquee Tent is also offered as a rainy day option with a capacity of up to 200 people. The Lodge also offers two onsite dressing rooms for the couple to prepare privately, and their Honeymoon Suite is included in all standard Wedding Packages.

Services offered

Their Wedding Coordinators are onsite for nearly the entire day of the wedding, functioning as a liaison between you, your vendors, your family, and the staff. They ensure your guests know where to go upon arrival, coordinate about 95% of your setup (excluding things like string lights or arbors), brief your commissioner on timeline changes, cue the wedding party down the aisle, educate your MC on the timeline, and house policies, communicate with your photographers about timeline, lighting, and room setup, technology problem solving (slideshows, sound system, ceremony music), quality checking meals, serving the Bride at the buffet, providing customer service to the guests (highchairs, allergies, directions), etc. Prior to the Big Day, they work to communicate and meet with you to sort out all the details, a timeline of the day, etc., and attend all on-site rehearsals. Two fully licensed bars are available with no additional bartending fees. On-site hair and make-up are available for an additional cost.

Cuisine

We are proud to introduce our new Executive Chef, Justin Paakkunainen! While boasting an impressive 20 plus years in the kitchen, our Chef brings a consistently refreshing new menu to our guests. Driven by an unwavering passion for the art of cooking, and a constant desire to grow in his craft, Chef Justin is always searching for new ways to breach the barriers of our guest's expectations for pallet pleasing, illustrious meals. We take particular pride in supporting local farmers, and businesses by sourcing our foods locally, or as we like to say "farm-to-table." We also go to great lengths to purchase our seafood locally, ensuring that we provide the highest quality and freshness.

Chef Justin Paakkunainen offers two seasonal buffet menus and one year-round buffet menu to choose between and has been known to be very accommodating regarding dietary restrictions, and menu alterations. Additional platters, appetizers, and late-night snacks are optional add-ons.

Fraser River Lodge isn't just a venue—it's an experience.

As the owner of Pardy DJ Services and a regular vendor at Fraser River Lodge, I have to say, this place is something special. Tucked away on a gorgeous 18-acre property with jaw-dropping views of Mount Cheam and the Fraser River, it's the perfect spot for weddings and events.

Working with the team at Fraser River Lodge is always a breeze. They're super organized and really pay attention to the little details, which makes things so much easier. The lodge itself has this amazing rustic charm with all the modern comforts you could want—it's just a fantastic setting for any celebration.

And the food? Wow. The chefs here really know their stuff. They whip up delicious meals using fresh, local ingredients, and guests always leave raving about it.

From a DJ's point of view, the setup is spot on. The acoustics are great, and the dance floor is always packed. It's awesome to see everyone having such a blast in such a beautiful place.

If you're looking for a special place to host an event, I can't recommend it enough. I'm excited to keep working with them and creating more unforgettable memories.

Fraser River Lodge isn't just a venue—it's an experience.

Nice views, terrible communication

While the view and photos for my wedding was amazing, the staff and communication was a nightmare. They would go back on their word and change "rules" after the down deposit was paid. They stated that taper candles are not permitted but in our emails I have proof with a photo asking for permission if they were suitable as long as flame was enclosed in which they said yes to. Come to actual day they said they are not permitted, completely disregarding their written approval and charged me for "damaged linens" When all of this could have been prevented had they actually said no to the candles in the first place. We asked multiple times for photo proof of said damage and the would not send photos. We asked to keep the linens so we can resell them ourselves. My aunt got the linens from the venue and they are still white. I wish we could have had the promised photo proof before they took money out of our account. Prior to booking I was promised I could book a site viewing come spring as we booked venue date in mid winter and we are from out of town and couldn't drive due to roads. Come spring time I contact them to book a site visit in which they responded they don't do site visits. I screenshotted their previous email saying they would and then they allowed my mom to view as they couldn't make a date work for me. During our finalized meeting a month prior to the wedding they told me we could bring in our own late night snack without an additional fee. Night of the wedding they pull my husband aside interrupting him mid conversation that he was having with a guest to say we will be getting charged a $200 fee for supplying a late night snack. Luckily the next day we disputed that charge with them. Each staff member would tell us something different and were not at all on the same page. Which was extremely frustrating. There were many tears shed during this stressful time due to their lack of communication and changing their minds on policies. Even day of, staff weren't approachable. I had other vendors attend my wedding that day as I hired them for services and they ALL had clients with the same issues we had. We trusted the reviews on google, but unfortunately they delete the poor ones. Would never recommend this venue purely due to staff and management. I have formerly worked in the wedding industry for 10 years and have never seen a bride be treated this poorly. I just want awareness to be shared so brides can go in knowing what to expect. Keep all emails and have everything agreed upon in writing. They also up charged me an extra $10 per person 5 months prior to wedding. In which they do to every bride. Give them a lower rate, pay deposits and then up the food fees. I know Fraser River Lodge and their management won't do anything about this, I just hope they can properly train all mangers and staff to know ALL the same information when speaking to clients so people don't get told one thing and then later find out that isn't the case and get charged with hidden fees down the road.

Mountain Wedding of our Dreams

The mountain wedding of our dreams!!!
I could write an essay on how amazing our day was.
1) The service was incredible. The staff were SO SO accommodating ensuring that everything went smoothly during the day.
2) The landscape and views of the lodge are 12/10 stars. The mountain view was unforgettable and the best way to give our guests the optimal BC experience. I love how the lodge feels elevated but also a cozy/rustic elegance.
3) The accommodations on site were incredible. It was such a great perk that roughly ~40 guests could sleep at the venue the night of.
4) The planning and assistance beforehand was great. The communication from the FRVL Team was top knotch and every random question was responded to in speedy timing.
5) THE FOOD AND DRINKS!!! The appetizers were amazing and the cocktails were also delicious.
We can't thank this team enough for making every one of our wedding dreams come true. If you are debating getting married here - DO IT!

The Fraser River Lodge brought our wedding plan to life!

Apart from having the perfect backdrop for a wedding, Fraser River Lodge separates themselves from other venues through their accommodations, ceremony, and reception options. Their staff were supportive from the day we reached out to the minute we left the property on the day after our wedding.

Incredible Venue

The lodge was amazing and so professional with our wedding day. They took care of so many details! Having their help with the tables, chairs, linens, food and day of coordination of events was invaluable and affordable. We were able to work with them and they were flexible with changing our schedule right up to the day of. We were delayed arriving due to a traffic accident and they were so accomadating. The food was incredible - rave reviews from all our guests. The rooms there are beautiful and there was nothing but positive things said by our guests about the view, rooms and food. I would 100% recommend the lodge.

Disappointed

My wedding was beautiful and we had a great day. From my guests’ perspective, they say this was the best wedding ever. However, from our perspective I was disappointed by how everything went down on the day and day after. When we arrived for our scheduled set up time, the wedding from the night before had still not been taken down. The guest before us had a vinyl decal over the entire dance floor that would not come off. It was not off the floor until 2pm and my wedding was at 4. We were supposed to have access at 10am… this left my family no time to get ready or set up properly. The manager on duty was not nice about it to say the least. It made the day super stressful and no apologies were given. On the morning after the wedding, the next booking showed up at 8:30 because they had requested the space early?! So we found all of our belongings from the bridal suite tossed into a cart and left outside in the rain. No one informed us of this, not to mention we had paid for the space until the time they said we had for the next day. So basically we got the space late and then were tossed out early. on the night the staff tried to get us to close the bar at 11!! I said don’t we have the space until 1am? She said yes but we usually close the bar at 11. I said no thanks. She said ok 11:45 then and walked away. Overall I felt like the staff rushed the night so they could get off work earlier. Some people were still sitting at their tables when they were stripping off the linens and centrepieces. Many of my guests said their wedding favours I made personally for each guest were taken off the tables while they were dancing— presumably they went in the garbage. The food was taken away before people could eat a second plate and there was tons left so I’m not sure why they took it so early. I was asked to cut my cake during dinner time. It was very odd. At the time I was so caught up in the day I didn’t think about it, but looking back it’s really disappointing to have the day cut short because some staff wanted a shorter shift. The food was delicious. The setting is beautiful. The service leading up to the day was great. I wish the day of would have been what they promised.

Best. Venue. Ever

When my wife and I started looking for venue, it was hard. Like everyone else, we wanted our wedding venue to look different than others. So that goes the yachts, hotels and anything in the tents. We didn't find Fraser on weddingwire at first. My wife was looking on instagram for rustic weddings and Fraser came up. So, we decided to take a day and check it out along with one other venue nearby. We went to the other venue at first, it was a nice golf course. But they said the ceremony will be in the tent outdoor, so that goes that.

Once we got to Fraser, we met with Wendy. Wendy asked us some questions and proceed to walk us through the venue. As we walked around and saw the mountains, we immediately fell in love. Wendy talk us through all the details, offers and all the things that was included in the package and we reserved the date.

Then COVID hit. Fraser offered one time reschedule for free, so we extended one year out. Unfortunately, it was too soon, so we extended it again with small fee.

Finally, as the date got closer, Wendy and the team started contact us and making sure what we wanted is listed. It was very detailed list and I'm so glad they did this.

We booked for 2 days, one rehearsal dinner (day before) and the wedding day. When we got there for the rehearsal dinner, it was then I realized how amazing this place was.

We were greeted by everyone. Cynthia, the manager of the servers, took care of us. She remembered I don't drink, made sure people always had their drinks or whatever they need. This went on for both days we were there.

Something is really special about Fraser, not only just the views. I think because when you book the venue, the whole venue is yours. There will be no stranger on the premise. So all the staff knows you and your family and you really get treated like VIPs.

On the wedding day, Wendy and the team kept in touch with us, make sure the vendors connected with each other and got what they needed.

It was a bitter sweet moment for us with Fraser. We were "together" for 2 years, keep in touch and continue planning. Then it all came together in 1 day.

Our wedding went very smoothly. Some small hiccup that got addressed quickly. For the ones that didn't, I don't think I remember or it mattered.

I'm not sure if we would have gotten the same treatment or experience had we gone somewhere else. All I know is, all of our family and friends told us how much they enjoyed our wedding and how beautiful the venue is.

Thank you Fraser and everyone on the team for taking care of us (and our family and friends) and made our special day even more special.

The perfect atmosphere

The staff, the food, and the over all atmosphere was perfect. The weather was good to us so view of the mountain was breathtaking. Wendy and her team made sure the day ran flawlessly, there were no issues and everyone had a great time. It was all I could’ve wanted and more, and I’m so happy we decided to wait a little longer to get in at this venue. Well worth the wait and every dollar spent.
