Arbutus Studios is a videography business located in Vancouver, British Columbia. We specialize in creating wedding films, music videos, and corporate videos. For our wedding films, we aim to capture the true essence of each wedding and love capturing those candid moments that make every wedding unique. We use our top of the line gear which includes 4K cinema cameras, gimbals, lighting equipment, and sound equipment, together with skilled cinematographers, editors, and colourists to create a beautiful wedding film that will be cherished for the rest of the couples lives.
Services Offered
Once a wedding has been booked, our team at Arbutus studios puts an immense amount of planning and preparation into the shoot. We go over the layout of the venue and put a plan together of how to best capture all the important moments of the big day, in the most artistic manner we can. If lighting is required we are happy to bring our lighting equipment to the venue. We also believe that our film's audio is just as important as video, so we use professional audio equipment throughout the day (lapel mics, shotgun mics, external recorders) to capture the highest quality audio we can.
After the wedding is complete, we start to piece together a wedding film with the constant focus being storytelling. In the wedding films editing process, we like to mix together both some of the audio captured on the day (speeches and vows) with music. We then deliver a cinematic, and beautifully edited/colour graded wedding film that the couple will cherish for the rest of their lives.
Other Services
To complement our wedding films, we are now excited to also be offering photography services, and package deals that include both photography and videography if that appeals to the couple.

Meet the team
Scott Jacobs is Arbutus Studios owner, and head cinematographer. He has worked at 50+ weddings over the years as both a video professional, and as a musician. In the last 10 years he has lived and worked in Parksville, Nanaimo, Sydney Australia, and now is lucky to call Vancouver his permanent home.
Scotts passion for videography and filmmaking began when he discovered the work of Australian videographer/photographer Jarrad Seng. The way his work focused on storytelling and capturing his subjects inspired Scott to want to do the same. Since then Scott has continued to hone his craft by working on numerous wedding, corporate, music video, and documentary shoots. He is comfortable shooting on Panasonic, BlackMagic Design, and Canon Camera systems, but currently opts to use Panasonic equipment for most of his shoots.
In addition to his videography career, Scott is also an avid musician who has released 3 successful albums, studied music at VIU, had his original music played on the radio, and performed across Canada, Australia, and for 4 major cruise lines.
