I would like to start off by saying I NEVER write reviews, but I feel as if people should know my experience with this "company" before they decide to use them for something that is supposed to be their special day. My Fiancé and I looked around at many different wedding ... View more photographers and were drawn towards Zekar due to the quality of shots they seemed to produce during the night. While looking at their packages we had decided we wanted to use their newer photographer, who was listed as building his portfolio. Our decision for this was not due to money but simply because I felt as if they would have a lot of passion still left for this business, as well as after seeing the portfolio of the owner we felt as if they wouldn't use somebody they did not feel had an equal skill level; since it reflects on the company. After meeting up with the newer photographer we were very pleased. He was easy to talk to, and listened to my fiancé and I while we talked about our wedding. He took notes, and gave us rough estimates for some of the questions we had.. such as how much would it cost to keep him after the time was over. I was ready to book right then and there but my fiancé decided he wanted to wait a few days and just make sure we were both 100% on the same page. Plus we had found out that our photographer was going on vacation in a few days so we would have time to discuss without feeling stressed that he would be booked. This is where our experience went downhill. My fiancé emailed a women named Kate asking if our photographer was back from his vacation, and that we would like to discuss with him a few things on the contract which did not match up with what he had told us in our meeting. Kate said that the photographer had no say in the contract and that anything to do with it would need to be discussed with her. My Fiancé emailed her back with the questions we had regarding specific areas of the contract, and explained that we were confused as it did not match up to what we were told in person. My fiancé then said at the end of the email that we would like to meet up with both the photographer as well as her rather than keep emailing... The very next email we got from Katie said in it "it seems as if you have issues with some of the main policies of our studio and I'm not sure we'll be the right fit for you". Not only at this point did we have any idea who Kate was or what her role was within the company ( as she never addressed her self nor did anyone mention her to us). My fiance responded explaining that we would like to work on the pricing and who would that go through, her or the photographer we would be using; she informed us that we are to discuss the package pricing with her and she will talk to the photographer as she said it is made as a group decision. At this point my Fiancé texted our photographer (as he had given him his cell number for the meeting) just asking him to clarify who Kate was as and what her role was within Zekar, as well as just asked if its possible to discuss the pricing. This is when we got an email from Kate saying she is co-owner .. first time we found this out.. one would think you would say this in the first few emails who you are so that your clients know you're not just a secretary. Then she told us to go find another photographer. From my experience with Kate, I would never use this company even if it was free. She came across as rude in the first few emails and certainly the last one. She is very difficult to speak with and clearly does not need the business. Be warned that this company may be right for you if you have ZERO questions and would like to just sign a contract without any further discussions. I am appalled that I even once wanted to have them as part of my day. Good luck to all those who use them and deal with Kate.

Overall we are pretty happy but one comment to mention is that mike is the photographer and his clients are not models. Its their job to direct you. I feel they could have done a much better job at directing us. Such as when its bright outside tell everyone close your eyes and on ... View more a count of three open your eyes. Or face this way or smile. I feel like we didn't have a lot of great wedding group shots, or family photos. The whole day is so busy and you dont know what needs to happen. Its their job to make the day so more smoothly. Candid photos are my favourite but in our case some of the photos were just awkward. which may not be their fault but still a waste of photos when you know your not printing those ones. for me i felt we had the same pose in a lot of pictures. It would have been nice to get some veil photos or something. i have seen other wedding photos and some get really creative and get the bride and groom go under the veil and so on. just would have been nice to get different photos then your typical kissing photos. Engagement photos were great though
Mike and Kamila were awesome! They took us awkward models and made us look normal! Mike has a great eye!
