DO NOT WORK WITH THIS WOMAN. She doesn't know the meaning of the word work. Corinne Lye (name checks out) was recommended to us by a friend of hers (who is no longer a friend of ours). We contacted her back in January with some simple questions about our upcoming wedding. Right from the get-go, I found it odd that she was acting exasperated. She told us she was "going on a trip" soon, was very busy, and would have to communicate by email only. Fine. But we made the mistake of assuming this would change when she returned. It did not!

Corinne would not take phone calls, and one of her email replies actually had someone else's name in it! She was so busy she couldn't be bothered to reply to us personally, so she reused her response to someone else. We set up several Zoom meetings, but she made an excuse to miss every one. First, it was technical difficulties, then service problems. Finally, no excuse, she just didn't show, so we gave up (Corinne invoiced us for this anyway).

We asked about including some unique, fun elements into the service, and she responded by calling us "millennials" in a vaguely derogatory manner, saying she might be able to. There was VERY little effort on Corinne's part to be involved with our journey, get excited, or even demonstrate basic professionalism. She wanted to show up for the money, without putting in the work.

We immediately stopped dealing with Corinne when we became aware of another client who had a terrible experience and chose to go with someone else. Corinne responded by suing them! Like the client being sued, we realized she was also invoicing us for services she didn't provide that we didn't agree to. Then, we finally met her! Sort of.

We ran into Corinne and her lovely husband Mike completely by accident while walking our dogs. She had no idea we were potential clients. We said hello to them (she wasn't very friendly) and chatted with him as we all walked. Mike struggled to walk both their dogs while Corinne sat in their van and watched. He was incredibly friendly, which seemed to contrast to her personality. I think she only ever communicated with him by yelling the entire time we were there. We were glad we'd never had the in-person meeting since she seems incapable of volume control. This cinched it for us; we could not let someone who treats their partner like that officiate our wedding!

When we politely emailed Corinne to let her know we would no longer be needing her services, we met the real her. She accused us of wasting her time, demanded payment for services unrendered, and claimed she would sue us unless we paid her in full. It felt like extortion. She turned into an unreasonable, angry person full of offensive accusations when she realized she wouldn't see a dime from us.

It's apparent that Corinne is not AT ALL who she says she is. She projects a well-crafted illusion of being a well-meaning, older woman full of grace, gentleness, and compassion. But she is, in fact, a manipulative, lazy, judgmental teenager who cares about money more than people.

Our experience with Corrine Lye has been, and continues to be an absolute nightmare. We hired her to officiate our wedding in the spring of 2024. We did not receive the 30 minute Zoom call that she advertises. We did not receive the meeting to go over the Ceremony that she advertises. In fact, the only contact she had with us was through e-mail. She refused to meet with us in any way or even talk on the phone. Every time we messaged her, she said she would have to get back to us as she was going on vacation (this happened numerous times). After 7 months, she finally sent us a copy of a Ceremony that was clearly just a generic template that she uses for her clients. Even the names in the Ceremony were that of another couple. We had asked her to include several readings in the Ceremony. She didn't include even one. After all this we still hung in there because she seemed like a very nice woman who meant well. The last straw was when we received her final invoice, charging us way over what was in our contract, using the excuse that she needed to be compensated for travel. She wanted over $100 to travel 1.1 kms (literally). As our wedding day approached, my partner and I both felt increasingly uncomfortable continuing on with Corrine. We made the decision to fire her , knowing that we would lose our $275 deposit, and hired a much more professional, competent Officiant. After firing Corrine, we received a message from Corrine, letting us know that she would take legal action if her ceremony was used by another Officiant (I'm not sure why another Officiant would want to use someone else's ceremony). Our wedding was this past weekend and yesterday we received a letter from a lawyer stating that Corrine is now suing us.
