Rose's Custom Sewing

I bought my dress from Sinders with the intention that Rose would be doing the alterations. I am extremely petite and have had formal gowns altered by her in the past, so knew the quality of her work. She didn't disappoint. My original train was a cathedral length..far too long for my age (59) and height (5ft). She shortened it to chapel length and added a bustle. The bustle was so fabulous that I chose to keep the dress bustled all day, with the exception of the actual ceremony. People absolutely raved about the dress and how well it fit my figure. Cannot recommend this vendor highly enough!

I had my dress altered at Rose's. Both her, Karen, and all the staff were so friendly and accommodating for all of my appointments. I'm thrilled with the how my dress turned out and the alterations that they did for me. I highly recommend them!

On my first visit, the woman that helped me was lovely and had helpful ideas. On my second, third, and fourth visit, I had a different woman who was very unpleasant. She had no idea what I had already discussed on my first visit. They obviously had not communicated. During our appointment she stood there expectantly and hardly spoke to me. I had to initiate all communication. When I asked questions her answers were short & blunt. She was almost annoyed to be asked something, and unwilling to offer any type of explanation to my questions. Most of her answers were "I don't think so..." or "uhhh...nope". All you can say to that is "okay" and accept it. She pretty much didn't want to put the work in to do anything I asked and kept giving reasons not to do things. I felt like a huge burden to her.

I also sent 2 emails over the course of a few months to the Rose's general email address with example pictures and the person who replied was someone named Kim (neither of the women working on my dress). In person when I asked if they saw the example pictures I sent, neither of them had even seen the email. I had to pull it up on my phone during the appointment. I don't know why the pictures were not shared with either women. By then it was too late because my dress was already butchered. I honestly got tears in my eyes each time I saw how the dress was done.

I also was interested in buying a veil through them, but for 3 appointments in a row the cranky woman forgot about my interest in a veil and so when she said "are we done?" I would have to bring it up and say "oh I was going to look at the veils?" This happened 3 times.

The sewing quality was terrible - measurements were obviously uneven to the untrained eye. Mesh inserted into the cleavage area was frayed at the seam and the sewing line completely showed and was also uneven. I couldn't believe it. It looked like a mistake...

Sewing quality aside, this woman barely communicates and it was honestly so disheartening to be around her. Very nasty.

Every appointment with this woman made me want to ask to just talk to the nice & pleasant woman whom I met with first.

Needless to say, I am finishing my alterations with another company.

I would recommend Rose to anyone. We had some hiccups with my daughters dress and two of the guys suits and Rose came to the rescue and made sure that we had everything ready for our special day. She also created some unique jewelry for my daughter and I and a headband for my granddaughter. Such a wonderful experience!!

Rose is absolutely amazing! I originally had my dress hemmed by another woman elsewhere and I was disappointed in the job she had done with the hemming, the bustle and adding my belt. I had lost some weight and a week before my wedding my dress was way too big. I called Rose and she took me the next morning and had my dress taken in, fixed the botched job with the belt and bustle within three days! The moment I saw her I just felt at ease, if you bring your dress to her you will NOT be disappointed. Plus she has very reasonable rates, better than the woman who did my hemming. Absolutely worth the drive to Carleton Place.

I had my wedding gown, and all my bridesmaid dresses, as well as my moms dresses all made at Rose's shop. And they all turned out beautiful!! I can't say enough good things about Rose and all of the staff there. They were all so helpful every time I went, and made exactly what I wanted! I would definetely recommend them to anyone!

I was a bit worried going to see her b/c all the brides on here said she was excellent at what she did but she was expensive. She was very punctual and friendly and gave us great ideas on things we weren’t sure how to get altered. On my second fitting I was worried either the dress wouldn’t fit, or she would have forgotten something but alas, the dress was perfectly altered. She did an amazing job on it and I was lucky that my mom paid the hefty alterations fee. I would tell any bride to go see her!! Totally worth the money spent!

I found it was very expensive for the amount of work she did on my dress.

I had my dress bought and altered in another province, bridal centre I'm Calgary. I was not happy about one area and brought my dresses to roses. She made me aware of a lot of other issues that I did not even notice. She did amazing work in a short time period and fixed my dress for a great price! I would highly recommend! It's well worth the drive if you live in Ottawa!
