About Potluck
The Potluck Café Society grew out of a “youth-at-risk” employment initiative called Binners Dinners held at United We Can in 2000. In 2001, the Portland Hotel offered to build a café on its premises that would be operated by the Potluck Café Society.
In February 2022, Potluck moved to its new home at 298 East Hastings Street, equipped with a larger, state-of-the-art kitchen. This facility presents new opportunities and greater capacity for Potluck's future initiatives.
Potluck Café Society owns and operates Potluck Café and Catering, a leading social enterprise and Vancouver catering company that serves clients in Vancouver and Burnaby.
Our Mission
The mission of Potluck Café Society is to transform lives by providing employment and hands-on training to members of the community who face barriers to traditional employment, and providing healthy, nutritious food for people living in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Meet the team
Proud to be the Executive Director at Potluck Cafe Society, Naved contributes several decades of international experience in the hospitality industry with leading brands including Fairmont, Starwood, Hyatt, InterContinental and Oberoi hotels. He holds Business Administration & Hotel Operations Diploma from Oberoi School of Hotel Management and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Bombay.
Naved loves to cook, travel and being behind a camera.
Over the last several years, Andrea has completed her Diploma in Community and Justice Services, worked as a Residential Counsellor for adults with developmental disabilities, an Intake Coordinator at a low-barrier women's shelter, and most recently packed her entire life up to move from Ontario to BC with her cat and her partner. She is currently completing her Bachelor degree in Justice Studies at Royal Roads University. Andrea loves to read, cook (not bake, she sucks at it!) and hike.
Darcy joined Potluck in March 2015 after graduating from Kwantlen Polytechnic University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Since university, he has been heavily involved in the social enterprise and non-profit sector in British Columbia, including founding an environmental non-profit organization and social enterprise based in Greater Vancouver.
