Get married here!

When my fiance and I first started wedding planning for our April 2024 wedding, I had initially written Newlands off, as I falsely thought it was out of our budget (just based on having talked to others that have gotten married here and hearing about how beautiful and "fancy" these other weddings were). But after researching and learning more about what Newlands offers and what their Club Wed packages include, I was shocked by a) how all inclusive the venue is, and b) how reasonable their prices are! Outside of the affordability and all-inclusiveness, we were also so impressed with the staff friendliness and professionalism; each one is so gifted at their particular role. Our wedding coordinator, Jessalyn, was beyond amazing as well. She helped to make the wedding planning process so easy and keep stress levels very low; she was thorough and punctual with all communication and answered absolutely every question that popped up; she was friendly, helpful, flexible, informative, and just overall so great to work with!

Our ceremony and reception space were decorated so beautifully, and the food was over-the-top amazing (so many of our guests commented on how they'd been to many weddings in the past and never had had wedding food as delicious as Newlands). It felt like a fairy tale to get married here! We have zero regrets with having booked our wedding at Newlands and would choose them all over again if we had to. 100% we'd recommend this venue to other couples considering it!

Best day ever! ❤︯

We decided on booking Newlands for a few reasons. One being that it has been a family brunch spot on important occasions since I was a little girl and I've always loved the venue. Secondly, the value is absolute unmatched and third, the Cypress room is stunning along with the magnolia room to get ready in.

Our day was the most incredible and Newlands staff, Jessalyn, Charlene and Lisa/the design team went above and beyond for us. It was just how I imagined and after many many email requests, back and forth it worked out perfect. Newlands truly is accommodating to your wants - they changed the pasta to Alfredo for us, took the shells off the prawns, our room captain made sure we had drinks refilled all night, the attentiveness was amazing.

Our family and friends had a blast as well as we sure did. The cake, food, music and everything in between was perfect.

All in all, if you're thinking of booking Newlands, don't sleep on it! It's the best value/bang for your buck in the Fraser Valley/locally, the staff are so friendly and they truly know their stuff without over charging etc. the photos reflect just how gorgeous our day truly was and I couldn't be happier that we went with a venue that means so much to me.

Thank you Newlands! 💖🤗

convenient with some pros and cons

Newlands was a convenient venue as it provided many wedding features that we would otherwise have to source and bring together ourselves. That was the main draw-in for us at the beginning of our wedding-planning venue search. If you're unsure about how the venue will look photographed, ours photographed really well and all the guests commented on how beautiful it was. The complete experience was quite average, but a few superstars from the Newlands team really made our wedding great.

Pros:
1) By far the best thing from Newlands and what made our experience with this venue worth it- their top photographer, Sherri. Sherri has wedding photography down to an absolute art. Make sure you book her, and all your worries about this part of your wedding will melt away. She is extremely experienced and will get the best out of you and your SO. She is a cut above all the other wedding photographers. She can even predict the weather (twice, for us). She is also super knowledgeable about the wedding day processes, including cultural events like tea ceremonies.

2) Lisa, Newland's decor lead, is phenomenal. She is efficient and understanding. Instead of feeling like we were upsold or forced to spend more money getting extras, we actually felt like she DOWNsold us. She knew our budget and worked perfectly within it, wasting no time on things out of the realm of our limits. Yet, at the night of our wedding, the room looked so good.

3) Heera. The room captain for our special night. Make sure you request that Heera be your room captain. He was absolutely incredible as a room captain, I have never felt so important at any restaurant or venue or anything. He truly made us feel like we were the most important couple on earth that day. We never worked with him/knew him before the day of our wedding, but he was the most lovely surprise. He got us all our food and beverages and checked in multiple times throughout the night to ensure we didn't need anything. We did not have to get up from the head table at any point for food or drinks!

Cons:
1) All the other reviews about price increases once you lock Newlands in as your venue is correct. Be prepared for that. Sherri, as our photographer, was really good, but the prices increased and we could not do anything about that. The initial price of the photography package we agreed on was a big reason why we decided to go with Newland's in-house photographer, and by the time they told us about the price increase, it was already too late to find other alternatives. That left a sour taste in our mouth.
There were also some hidden/ less obvious costs like if you want the digital pictures that the photographer took for you, you need to pay another hefty amount of money to get it. They also originally raised the cost of drink tickets, but after we raised our concerns, this was lowered to the original price which we appreciated.

2) Newlands changed our main wedding co-ordinator on us without giving us any warning or reason. This disrupted our wedding planning flow and we did have to catch up the new co-ordinator, as the first co-ordinator was planning most of our wedding and changed just a few months before the wedding. Communication was very good at times, and other times emails were a bit slow. Some things needed to be repeated. The second co-ordinator was much better, but again, the wedding was soon and she was newly assigned to us.

3) When we went to the food tasting, my last name was spelled incorrectly. This was stressful and concerning to us as we do not want our names spelled wrong on the wedding day as well. We brought this up with Newlands but felt like it was brushed off quickly and it was not very reassuring.

4) Newlands provides the wedding cake, which is good, but the wedding cake we got was not what we ordered with Newlands. We designed the cake with Newlands but on the day of, the color is completely off. We had ordered dusty blue and what we got was an electric blue. They gave us the wrong cake. If the wedding cake and cake cutting is a big deal for you, make sure to ask Newlands if you can bring your own.

5) The buffet food was average to us. Their best dish is by far the fish. Any fish item, Newlands has it down in strides. I won't be able to enjoy fish anywhere else now. But every other protein option is weirdly not great. We are glad we went to the Food Tasting before our wedding, as the Beef Bourgignon was as hard as rocks. I'm not a picky eater, I love instant noodles and Churches Chicken, so that's something coming from me. So we changed the Beef Bourgignon to baby back ribs, which was average but not talk-of-the-town bad. Make sure to upgrade from Baron of Beef to Prime Rib at least, because the Baron of Beef was cardboard. I find it hard to say no to beef carvings, but to the Baron of Beef, I say no thank you.

Greatest value for your money!

We recently got married at Newlands Golf & Country club- May 11,2024 and we had such an amazing experience. We got the least expensive package but it still came with a lot of things such as food, cake, DJ, decors, flowers. Newlands took a load off our plate specially since my husband and I both work long hours and barely had time to plan the wedding. Newlands was always on top of reaching out to us regarding wedding details and info and they are always available to answer any of our questions or concerns. Thank you Newlands for giving us the wedding of our dreams!

If food is an important part of your culture and reception, we cannot recommend Newlands.

For an organization who specializes in wedding packages and has done this HUNDREDS of times, there is no excuse for the experience we had on our wedding day. What made it even worse is that we were placated by our coordinator and promised a follow up by a Director, who never bothered to reach out to us to discuss our concerns.

When it came to our dinner, the food was extremely important to us, so we gladly paid to upgrade our main course to the prime rib. We had approximately 60 guests who were initially served, then went up for seconds (and some for thirds) as the server was slicing the tiniest slivers. By the end of our dinner, only 1/3 of the prime rib butt (approximately 5-6 lbs) was served to our guests and the other 2/3 was taken away! That averages about 1.3 oz per serving for each of my guests. To put that into perspective, the average chicken wing is about 1.3 oz. That was the main course and that our guests were served. We paid approximately $90 a plate and my guests left my wedding hungry. Did they expect everyone to try and fill up on rice and potatoes? That was incredibly embarrassing for us.

We pre-ordered late-night snacks (pizza and nachos) and were told that we could have ordered more, but the kitchen didn’t even announce that the snacks were being served. Only a few guests who happened to notice that they were out got to enjoy them. Unfortunately, our wedding cake was barely touched as it wasn’t announced either. Half of my guests didn’t even get to taste it.

The worse and most dangerous issue was the attention to food allergy. Our nephew is celiac and has an allergy to fish. We informed our co-ordinator weeks in advance and were assured that the kitchen was informed of all allergies. Unbelievably, even after all the assurances - he was served fish. My sister had to physically stop the waiter from placing the plate in front of him. Can you imagine if it wasn’t so obvious i.e. a nut allergy and they served him. He could have ended up in the hospital. This was a calamity. It makes me question if they even took the proper precautions for a person with celiac.

After the wedding, we raised our concerns and basically got some excuses and then we were ignored. There was no apology and no acknowledgement of any kind. Our coordinator thanked us for our feedback and called it a learning curve. This is their business; they have done hundreds of weddings. How is there a learning curve!? Food service and ALLERGIES ARE NOT A LEARNING CURVE!!!

We were told they would remove the upcharge for the prime rib. Removing the upcharge for the prime rib should’ve been the least that they could do to make amends. Can you imagine going to a restaurant, ordering a burger, adding bacon and cheese for an additional charge, then getting to take 1 bite before it gets taken away. When you ask what happened you get told don’t worry, we won’t charge you for the bacon and cheese. WHAT? But I still didn’t get my burger! That’s exactly how I feel. I never got what I initially paid for in the first place!

We were not happy with what our coordinator offered us and requested that our concerns be escalated to the director to discuss the matter further. There has been absolutely no response of any kind to us. We have been completely ignored for over 2 months now (8 weeks and counting). I believe I have been more than patient and understanding in giving them an opportunity to respond.

Jessalyn (our coordinator) literally thanked us both for “being the sweetest, genuine, kindest couple I have worked with in a long time” (a direct quote from one of her final e-mails) and yet we don’t even deserve the respect and courtesy of a simple response. I’m baffled. We have been nothing but kind and respectful to all the staff at Newlands and it’s disheartening that we do not get the same in return. To be brutally honest; It’s a slap in the face.

This is unfortunate because there were some aspects that stood out. The designer was amazing and the DJ was top notch. But I cannot, in good conscience recommend a place that takes no accountability for their errors and treats their clients with such disregard and disrespect. We have 2 daughters who are both recently engaged and based on our experience we will not be choosing Newlands again.

If you do choose to go with Newlands for your wedding, my advice is this - do not be as kind and easy going as my wife and I were. They’ll just walk all over you. Do not worry about seeming overbearing or looking like a “bridezilla”. Be loud, be demanding, double, triple and quadruple check everything. Ask, ask and ask again. As the adage goes “the squeaky wheel gets the grease” and “nice guys finish last.”

Take it from me … you don’t want to feel like you finished last when it comes to your wedding day.

Magical day at Newlands

We had a wonderfully magical day. Newlands was very accommodating with the weather conditions. We wanted to have our wedding at the gazebo, but due to rain we had to move the ceremony inside. It was a beautiful ceremony. The location of our reception was amazing in the Copper Ballroom. Food was great and the dj played our style of music and the decor was simple and elegant. Our photographer, Laura was easy to work with and she was very accommodating with the weather conditions. Charlene was really easy to work with as well and made sure our day was perfect. We would highly recommend Newlands to couples looking for a venue that does a wedding package. It’s pretty affordable and a beautiful place to get married as there are many different ballrooms to choose from. Thank you Newlands for making our day magical and memorable.

Amazing experience for our March 2024 wedding!

We loved our experience with Newlands with our 2023 wedding package. They made the planning process go so smoothly and delivered excellent results on what we decided upon from decor, flowers, food, and more in the Conservatory ballroom. Everything was stunning and our guests adored everything Newlands put together for us! We also absolutely loved working with Sherri who was our photographer - highly recommend her and her work is excellent! The crowd really enjoyed the DJ Shoja who did well managing the playlists we helped provide for our ethnic Palestinian and Egyptian wedding! Overall, a great experience!

Dream Wedding, No Stress

Every time someone asked me if I was stressed through the planning process, I was able to say “no” thanks to Newlands. I tell everyone that they are a wedding venue with a golf course in the back because it’s very clear that weddings and event are their main focus and priority and they do them so well. When they say they are “all-inclusive” they mean it. Every detail of the wedding was covered except for who officiated and what we wore. The bridal suite was a stunning space to get ready and well worth the upgrade. Our flowers were beautifully detailed and exactly what I envisioned. The cake was not only gorgeous, but also delicious. Some guests said it was the best wedding cake they ever had. The food was also highly talked about after our wedding. We celebrated in the newly renovated Cypress ballroom which was decorated exactly as discussed with the lovely design team. Our wedding coordinator Charlene, Linda and the DJ team, Lisa and the design team, our photographer Ashley Martens, and everyone else that I worked with from Newlands were incredibly professional and kind. Even a last minute ceremony change due to weather was handle efficiently and effortlessly by the team. I cannot say enough great things and will recommend Newlands to anyone who asks. I also will use them for large corporate parties moving forward.

Fairytale Brought to Life

Newlands was amazing beyond our dreams. The Club Wed package gave us the ability to create the wedding we had dreamed of and made it completely stress-free. Family and friends couldn't believe how stress-free I was going into the wedding but the Newlands team really does handle all the big things so we were able to focus on enjoying the planning and day.

The design team was incredible and walked us through everything. We didn't know anything about weddings or what we needed to plan and they were patient with us and asked us questions that helped them figure out the perfect wedding for us.

The food was amazing. Our guests could not stop talking about great the food was.

I honestly cannot say enough amazing things about the Club Wed package from Newlands. Our days was the most perfect ever. Our guests had the best time and I cannot thank the Newlands team enough
