    Couldn't be happier!

We just booked Le Jardin for our upcoming wedding in 2020 and we are so excited that we chose this venue over the many others that we looked at! We had the pleasure of dealing with Michael Punzo and our minds are at ease knowing we will be well taken care of for our big day!

Quite simply, Michael and his team are the very best at what they do. It was very clear from our first meeting, especially compared to other venues, that this was the perfect fit. Michael came off extremely professional, detail oriented and experienced. If you’re looking for someone to make your wedding stress-free, this is the place to go.
We are looking forward to our big day!

We got married on June 24, 2017 and booked this venue well over a year in advance because after looking at the whole package there was no comparison to any other banquet hall. Since the very beginning the staff where very friendly, helpful, always available and not pushy. I booked the venue with Samir who is a fantastic salesperson and I recommend him to anyone. My coordinator was Jennifer and she was fantastic as well, always on top of things. The day of the wedding everything was perfect and the food was out of this world. All the guests where so happy! They can also work with any budget so ask. The only thing to be aware off is the in house DJ is very pricey and the sound hooking fee is the most expensive of all the places I saw ($495 + $20 + tax - they said they where raising it for the next year...) and you can't use any lights if it is not through them and that is also very expensive, so budget extra for this part. Aside from this, the venue is a dream, the staff are amazing and the food is out of this world! You will not regret this choice, and booked the decorator the venue uses (Rosemary) she is very affordable, talented, and amazing in every way!

The moment my husband and I saw and visited this venue, we knew it was the perfect place for our wedding. We wanted a victorian themed wedding, and the chandeliers and crown mouldings would make that dream a reality. It is a gorgeous venue and all of our guests agreed. Although a bit far for many of my guests, all say that it is worth the drive up there. Unfortunately, they had a few staff turnover over the past year, but each coordinator I dealt with made the transition easy. In the end, we had Carol as our event coordinator. She was fairly prompt with her email responses and was accommodating to our needs and wants. Our bartender was quick and great with our guests' requests. They were flexible with the vendors we wanted to use and did not have to use any of their in-house/preferred vendors.

Overall, we are very happy with their service and there were so many compliments from our guests about the hall.

    High expectation, disappointing result.

I had my son's wedding reception on Victoria Day weekend and after feedback from some of our guests decided to put this review. Our contact Michael Punzo who we met over a year ago to plan the event was awesome. He listened to our requests and set the bar high and so our expectation followed and our guests (500+) were expecting this to be a fabulous venue and service to follow. We did our food taste test and it fell short, Michael was not present. We followed up with Michael and he invited us to a second food taste and he personally attended to us and the result was WOW, that was great, food presentation and taste was second to none. So our confidence level rose and our expectation for the execution on the evening of the reception was high. Then came the event and it did started out on a high note with an exceptional Lamb Martini as one of the appetizers recommended by Michael. Sorry to say, that was the end of the high note, it went downhill after that. We ordered a 7 course dinner starting with a soup which had a sharp taste of too much salt and not enough to present to all tables. Then came the house made pasta and that was ok except that one of our guest had pasta sauce spilled on her dress by a staff member. Following that was a long wait (possibly an hour) before the main course (salmon & chicken & roasted vegetables). When that finally came, about 50% of the guests were at other tables/bar or on the patio because they were not sure when/if it was coming. In addition, the sauce for the salmon that was agreed upon during the taste test did not make it onto the plates. For the drinks, we ordered the Taj Mahal (premium) and had a signature drink to be served but on the evening, this was not mentioned by the staff or served at the tables, so that didn't happen. Reflecting on that evening I was disappointed in the execution of the dinner service which really is the highlight of the reception and that fell flat on it's face. Unfortunately, Michael was not there to ensure that high standards were met and I think the staff was overwhelmed. One of our guest has her wedding set for August at the same location and is now having second thoughts about having booked here. I would think twice of having another event here.

    Michael Punzo and his team!

We booked Chateau Le Jardin 12 months in advance while dealing directly with Michael Punzo. From start to finish, Michael was a consummate professional who delivered a wedding experience that was beyond our expectation.

What stood out to us about Michael was his down to earth and honest approach. Unlike other sales people from neighbouring venues we considered, Michael was not simply trying to make a sale or take advantage naïve/eager newly weds. He was upfront about costs, his previous experiences (good and bad) and his limitations.

Without a wedding coordinator, we initially felt intimidated about this process but looking back dealing directly with Michael was the best decision we made. There were no surprises and little time wasted; this was crucial as having a demanding job and a fiance in Ottawa we could not afford to. Decisions were made efficiently and Michael was always easily accessible by a phone or text.

Another great quality of Michael is his knowledge about the ‘wedding process’. He served as a great sounding board for us when making decisions about other vendors, including photographer, DJs and florists. He did not charge us for his candid advice and we never felt pressured to use the 'preferred'/'in-house' vendors through Chateau Le Jardin.

Our wedding day was where Michael and Chateau Le Jardin team shined brightest. There experience in catering large high end events came through: they were not overwhelmed by the moment. Friends and family were blown away by the quality and quantity of food served. We opted for the deluxe seafood antipasto bar, penne al sugo/butternut squash risotto, chicken supreme/beef medallion, and chocolate lava cake. For our late night stations we choose the live taco station, shrimp shooters (my personal favourite), live cannoli/beignet and a gelato bar. Words can not do this menu justice. All we can say is that we were overcome with a sense of pride and relief seeing our guests rave about the food. For what we paid per plate, we both felt we had phenomenal value. I suspect our guests felt we paid much more. The bar was also beyond what we have experienced at other weddings. With 400 guests, we were anxious there would be long lines forming in front of the bar, which would not be ideal particularly during speeches. This was not the case at all. Michael made sure that the bar was adequately staffed and the bartenders were adept at managing our guests.

Having gone through this experience, we both can confidently recommend Michael Punzo and Chateau Le Jardin without reservations. We are truly thankful for all you did for us Michael!

    Love,

    Sam and Mary
