The Walper Hotel and their staff were so wonderful to work with from the very beginning!! They made sure no detail was missed and were very flexible to ensure our dreams became a reality. Leading up to wedding they were always very responsive, helpful, professional and flexible. Their team worked together like a well oiled machine making sure that no detail was missed and the entire day went smoothly. We also enjoyed our rehearsal dinner and post wedding Brunch at the Walper Hotel with our guests. People are still talking about the food! Everything was truly perfect! We had our wedding there on September 16th and it was phenomenal. Leah, Mick, Joel and staff did a great job of making sure that our wedding day went smoothly, right down to helping us by fixing our seating chart when all the cards fell off. Joel and the kitchen staff did a fantastic job on the meal, our guests are still talking about how great the food was.
Matt and I could not have asked for a more fantastic day!

Walper wedding July 2018
We had our wedding at The Walper in July 2018 for 201 guests and we highly recommend that you choose this venue! I would describe the atmosphere as fun and classy, and modern with a vintage flare. You have to go visit to see what I mean. We had many guests tell us that this was the most well-suited venue for a wedding that they've ever attended. The ballroom fits 224 seated guests, and the bar is just outside the ballroom. There is plenty of seating on couches and chairs in the same room where the bar is, and this created a friendly intimate space where people could chat without having to yell overtop of the music.
The food was delicious and well presented. The chef and staff were easy to work with for our guests with allergies (they take them seriously), and vegan and diary free guests. My only regret is not ordering more of the late-night snack! It was gone in a flash, my guests tell me it was also delicious. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the food choices here.
Responsiveness to my emails was only poor once, when I had to re-send an email 1 month after first sending it - but I think this had to do with a change over of staff (we booked the venue 15 months in advance and people change jobs sometimes, I don't blame them).
Overall, the staff were extremely helpful in creating a fun, relaxing (yes!), classy and beautiful wedding day for us and our guests. They worked with us leading up to the day and on the day itself to make sure everything was going according to plan, and they followed through perfectly. It was helpful that they coordinated directly with my vendors on the day-of, so that I didn't have anything to worry about. They even cleaned up all of our centrepeices (we brought and set up our own personalized ones), which were waiting for us in boxes the next morning. They really did take care of us on every level.

Not just another hotel experience
The Walper Hotel is truly special. It is historical, modern, and elegant. From food to service to rooms, you and your guests will be impressed and well looked after. We couldn't have found a better venue for our day.

Sales Manager leaves something to be desired ...
Before I begin, I'd just like to say that the wedding coordinator at The Walper was great. She was very helpful and worked really hard to try and make this work for us.
We were going to have our wedding reception at The Walper Hotel, and got to the point of contract signing. We noticed several inconsistencies between the contract and what we have been told. In hindsight, we can say that this was likely due to the staff we were interacting with being relatively new (I think they had only been there for a month or two). However, we wanted the contract to line up with what we had been promised, but we were met with a lot of resistance for what we thought were fair changes.
This process left us a bit uneasy about booking with them, as due to the contract, if signing with less than a year in advance, you must pay the full amount for cancelling (which would have been about $24k). We tried to give them opportunities to show that they weren't rigid and would be willing to work with us, and this is where things went south.
The wedding coordinator wanted to work with us, but required approval from her boss, the Sales Manager. When he came in to talk to us, he was abrasive and talked over us the entire time. It wasn't even a real conversation. Safe to say, we didn't book with them.
Also, regarding the contract issues, after pointing out the inconsistencies, the entire wedding contract was revised. This means that we were likely one of the first couples to really read the contract and realize that some of the clauses were unfair to the signing couples.
This ordeal ruined the wedding planning experience for us. The Sales Manager and Wedding Coordinator had both only been there for a few months each, so maybe these were just growing pains. We just wanted a fair business exchange, and they weren't willing to work with us for that.
