Since its inception in 1893, The Walper Hotel has long been a staple of the downtown Kitchener cityscape. This historic venue specializes in hosting luxurious weddings that balance style, elegance and sophisication with the modern comforts of a contemporary full-service hotel.
Imagine exchanging vows in a building with the following brag-worthy facts: Louis Armstrong played his trumpet off the Oak Lobby balcony; Al Capone used to run spirits from the hotel to Prohibition-era America; one of the terraces is named after Eleanor Roosevelt because she took her tea outside; Lennox Lewis’ first boxing match took place in our ballroom. Duke Ellington, Bob Hope, James Brown, Lady Gaga, Sarah McLaughlin and several Canadian Prime Ministers are just some of the notable figures who have frequented the hotel. To say it’s one of the most sought-after locations to host the wedding of your dreams is an understatement!

Perfect wedding during COVID
My husband and I recently got married at the Walper (early November). Our small wedding with 30 guests was the most perfect day and the staff at the Walper, from the Coordinators Andrea and Ashley to the event staff (I'm sorry I can't remember everyone's name!), were the kindest, friendliest and most considerate. We felt very safe with the precautions and procedures the Walper has in place, but the way they have them integrated into the space, we were able to forget about the Pandemic for the evening. Each staff member asked us and the guests what we needed, remembered drink preferences and met our needs, often without us even knowing we had them! The planning process was constantly changing due to new regulations, but with Andrea and Ashley walking us through it, our dreams came true and it was even better than pictured. Honestly, my husband and I wouldn't have changed a thing about our day and the Walper was the main reason! Also, our family and friends loved the venue, drinks and raved about the food! Thank you to the staff at the Walper!!! We had the best wedding during COVID, not the best COVID wedding!!Sent on 19/11/2020

Gorgeous wedding shower and excellent customer service
The Walper hosted my wedding shower in October 2020. The staff are phenomenal, the rooms are gorgeous and the food was delicious! Our main contact Andrea was fantastic, and worked with my mom for several months to figure out the details for my shower as it kept having to be rescheduled due to covid. We had originally planned for the Walper to host all of our wedding guests, but unfortunately after rescheduling from May 2020 to May 2021, we just decided to fully cancel our wedding due to covid. Andrea was very understanding, empathetic, and cancelled our guests' rooms with no questions asked. We hope to visit the Walper again when it is safe to do so!Sent on 18/02/2021

Beautiful Venue and Excellent Service
The Walper Hotel wedding department is phenomenal to deal with. We planned our wedding for 75 guests in Kitchener for May 2020.Sent on 09/04/2020
I met with Andréa from the Walper wedding department to plan for accommodations, a possible ceremony backup location and the rehearsal dinner. She was fabulous! Andréa made me feel like our wedding was a priority to the Walper and that she wanted to see us have a beautiful event. I can't emphasize what a gift this was. I always felt like she was in our corner and had our best interests in mind.
The hotel has several options for ceremony and reception locations - each with beautiful architectural details and each with a different "vibe" to set the tone for your event.
Before you book any venues for your upcoming wedding, I recommend that you take a tour of the Walper to get a sense of their gorgeous facilities and exceptional service.

The Walper had everything we wanted for our day - 1 location with it all taken care of. You could get ready there, have photos done indoors, guests can stay overnight and all of the food, drink and service is outstanding.Sent on 18/11/2020

Overall, we had a really beautiful wedding at The Walper Hotel. We had a few hiccups in the overall execution of the day as there was a second wedding happening the same night which created a few challenges; our wedding planner also changed right at the end of our wedding planning which may have contributed to a few misses from the time we booked to the big day. Ultimately we were pleased with the quality of the food and were very happy with the extras included in the winter wedding package. We also loved that we were able to o everything in one location, including having many photo ops with all of the beautiful spots in and around the hotel.Sent on 12/03/2020
