    Be very careful with your contract

    We wanted a garden wedding and had a contract stating that we would be able to get married in their garden. Months before the wedding after we already have multiple down-payments they contacted us to say that we wouldn’t be able to get married in their garden after all, as it “wasn’t ready”. We ended up getting married in their Atrium room which was ok. The staff at the Sheraton kept on changing things that were written in the contract and we had no choice but to comply with their changes, yet if I wanted to change something in the contract I would be met with a penalty or extra charge. I was promised many things on my initial visit to the Sheraton that made my husband and I choose to get married there, but when the time came to deliver on these promised we were sorely disappointed. They promised us free parking for all our guests, the garden ceremony with a freshly renovated garden, an aisle runner, and chair covers included…and we got none of those things. The Sheraton is a business primarily focused on making money so my advice to anyone wanting to get married there is be VERY specific with the things you want and make sure they’re written into the contract. You can’t trust promises made outside of the contract, and sometimes even promises made IN the contract will be broken. In the end my wedding was fine, the waiters and day-of coordinators did a good job.

    Also, some of my decorations and items I brought for my ceremony were never returned to me. So if you choose to get married there make sure you give someone the task of collecting the decorations and items you care about keeping.

    There are more good points to note about the Sheraton such as the decent food, the classy hotel atmosphere, the complimentary suite for 1 night, the surprise bottle of sparkling wine and plate of macaroons my husband and I received from the hotel…but the lack of professionalism with my contract and broken promises taint my perception of my wedding planning process as a whole.

    From the initial contact with our hotel and the changes in personnel managing your event since the departure of your first contact, your comments would suggest a possible breakdown in some of the information shared. That noted, with as much flexibility as possible, the agreement in place was what was offered during the event. The fact the garden was not available was understandably an important let down. On behalf of all of us we extend our sincerest apologies, this occurred. I assure you it was a situation beyond the control of the team at the time of your wedding.

    After some internal verifications regarding your decorations, I was told that they were indeed picked up by one of your guest and the hotel did not have any which were left behind.

    Ultimately your event should have been seamless and more memorable for you than reflected in your comments. Though critical, your feed-back is important to us and taken to heart.
