As Toronto’s longest continuously operating hotel and following an extensive renovation, Gladstone House reopened its doors in 2021 in the heart of West Queen West. Built in 1889 and steeped in history, this landmark property features traditional light hardwood floors, restored exposed brick walls and locally curated art throughout the building. Gladstone House features two unique multi-functional event spaces: The Ballroom and Melody Bar. Celebrate, dance, dine, and more in these event spaces to make your event a one-of-a-kind experience.

  • The Ballroom: Lavish, bold and one of a kind are just a few words our guests have used to describe our unique space. The Ballroom is perfect for corporate events, intimate parties, and more! Its exposed brick recalls Gladstone House, while the grand windows and hanging lights make the atmosphere light and airy for a day event.
  • Melody Bar: Eclectic, non-apologetic and your go-to party space for unique events, the Melody Bar is your venue for events that will go down in history. Decorated with 21 disco balls, neon lights and a full bar, the space creates the perfect social atmosphere. Added bonus: a large stage allows for memorable performances that'll keep your Instagram drool worthy!

For your upcoming wedding or celebration, you can choose from elegant plated meals, vibing buffets and passed hors d'oeuvres, and interactive food stations. Gladstone House features 56 stylish rooms embellished by light hardwood floors, neutral accents, and exposed brick walls. After your celebration, your guests can enjoy their stay in any of our stylish guestrooms, all equipped with glass enclosed showers, locally crafted amenities and unique local artwork.

Location

Gladstone House is at the corner of Gladstone Avenue and Queen Street West, just east of Dufferin Street. Our property is 20 minutes far from Toronto Pearson International Airport, and 10 minutes from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Street parking and Green P parking spots are available nearby. Underground self-parking is also available for our hotel guests for a $30 + hst fee per night.

    Neon, chic, fabulous!

    Our experience with the Gladstone has been amazing from beginning to end. The entire crew was lovely, professional, and excellent at what they do. Our guests raves about the food and the vibe. Perfect downtown cool venue!

    Beautiful Winter Wedding!

    We had our wedding at the Gladstone Hotel on Saturday February 8th, 2020. It was honestly better than we could have expected! The food was excellent – we had many compliments on it from guests. Initially we had gone with their Winter menu, which was offered to us at the time, and we had chosen the bone-in rib steak and hoisin butter salmon. But to be honest, we were not happy with those selections and asked for alternatives from their non-winter menu. You should know that there was an extra charge to do so, but in our opinion, it was well worth it. We chose the slow-braised short rib and the black cod, both of which were delicious. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout the entire day (checking in on us while getting ready in the bridal dressing suite) and night (checking in with us throughout cocktail hour and dinner) to make sure that everything went smoothly. We paid the extra $100 to have a Gladstone staff member help set up for the ceremony and the reception and everything was beautiful! We loved how everything looked, it was well worth it! We also chose to add uplighting which added a great effect. Having the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all at the same venue was also very convenient for guests. The signature welcome cocktails that were offered to guests when they arrived (we chose “the Salon”, which had Lot 40 whisky, maple syrup, grapefruit and egg white) were a huge hit. Following the ceremony, the cocktail hour was in a gallery that was already decorated with (rotating) art displays, so we didn’t even need to add anything to decorate that room, it looked great on its own! We also had a few family members and friends staying in the hotel and they all commented on how great the staff were in helping them settle in and feel comfortable. They were quick to assist my parents in using the elevator as my father has mobility issues. We also stayed two nights in the hotel – the night of our wedding and the night after. We really enjoyed our stay in the Tower Suite and were so happy to just relax the day after the wedding. We were interested in going to the drag brunch the next morning at the hotel, but it books up fast so make sure to make your reservations in advance. Finally, we would also really like to thank Sarah McGree, she was a huge help in organizing the event for us. She was in regular contact with us throughout the entire process and was very helpful. She answered all of our questions very promptly and offered us planning advice. We were so glad that we had the opportunity to work with her in planning our special day.

    Winter Wedding at the Gladstone

    Our wedding was absolutely perfect! We can't thank Sarah enough for all your help in setting everything up. The hotel looked gorgeous and The Gladstone Team were all amazingly helpful and friendly. It was an absolute pleasure working with Sarah and the wider team from start to finish. Everything went so smoothly and it was better than we could've imagined. We are so incredibly happy - both still beaming from the day.

    Wedding Reception

    We knew as soon as we met Sarah that we made the right choice with the Gladstone for our wedding party. All of the staff were incredible from start to finish. Professional, responsive, courteous, accommodating ... the list goes on. The Gladstone is a beautiful location, and we just can't say enough about Sarah, Daniel and the entire Gladstone team.

    Fantastic Venue and a Magical Day

    My husband and I got married at the Gladstone on August 24, 2019. The Gladstone has everything that you need in a more rustic, cool venue. The Gladstone team was so professional and amazing (Sarah, thank you SO much for all your help. You are a dream to work with, and thank you for putting up with all my questions!). The food was amazing, the night-of staff was perfect (we receive SO many compliments), Daniel was great (even when we were running a little behind on schedule). We even had one staff member say that they have worked many weddings in their life, and they have never felt as much happiness and love in one room before as our wedding.

    Our day was absolutely magical, having the suite upstairs was perfect, and I can't rave enough about how good everything was. The day went by so quickly, I wish we could do it all over again!

    The Gladstone also accommodated us for our rehearsal dinner and the morning Drag brunch (which is a MUST SEE).

    Again, thank you for a perfect day. And to all others thinking about hosting their wedding at the Gladstone, you won't regret it!

    Wonderful venue and staff

    During and after our wedding at the Gladstone, we’ve received countless compliments from our guests about the venue, dinner and the quality of the services. We went with the Summer Love Package, and its cost included the ballroom for ceremony and dinner, the 2nd floor space for cocktail reception with drinks and hors d'oeuvres, 3 course dinner itself, the bridal suite all-day access, menu and drink tastings, and many other services. We were warmly and professionally taken care of, but did not feel suffocated or pressured into any decisions. Thank you Sarah, Daniel and the Gladstone staff for an incredible experience!

    Amazing venue. Sarah is great to work with!

    Had our wedding reception at the Gladstone. The venue has so much character - fell in love with it and signed the contract on our first ocular. Sarah was a gem to work with - she was so responsive and catered to our every request! It was so easy to work with her - thank you so much, Sarah!

    Food was great! I was nervous about the quality of the steak, but it was tender and flavourful. The egg side that came it with is to die for. I wasn’t able to try the food during cocktail hour, but our guests were raving about it. Also got an open bar package which was fully enjoyed by our guests. The summer love cocktail was so good.

    Special thanks to Jessica (AV head) and Daniel (event manager) for everything! We had last minute requests that the team handled quite well - Daniel told me to relax, and that it was his job to fix everything. That meant so much to me.

    Thank you for making our wedding one for the books. ❤️

    Beautiful venue, terrible service.

    My partner and I booked the Gladstone for our wedding, along with the Tower Suite for that night, and bar the fact that the hotel is a beautiful backdrop for pictures, it was an extreme disappointment.

    Be prepared to have to do all the work yourself, in terms of setting up/taking down, as EVERYTHING is an extra charge in this place. Need help setting up? It costs extra. Need to access the room before 4PM? It costs extra. And so on. Your wedding estimate will cover the bare minimum, so if you are working within a timeline, be prepared to pay for it. Also the wedding planner you will be working with will probably not be there on the day, as we found out, and you will have to deal with someone different altogether.

    The staff were disorganised and indifferent on the day, messing up our music and leaving our guests wandering about with no direction, failing to announce the start of the ceremony or my partner and I as we entered the ballroom, turning the noisy dishwasher on during our speeches.

    The tower suite has a great roof deck, but other than that is not worth paying for, as there isn't a hint of luxury in it. There are no robes, or anything even slighly 'honeymoon suite'. There isn't even a bottle of water. Book a room in another hotel for your wedding night.

    And we didn't even get so much as a complimentary glass of champagne from the hotel, so don't expect any token of congratulations or appreciation.

    All in all, a day that we had put so much time nad effort into planning unraveled at the last hurdle due to the hotel's incompetence and disinterest in us as a couple. We complained after, and they half-heartedly offered us a free night stay and dinner, but too little too late, so we declined. We chose the Gladstone originally as we lived nearby and loved it, but that relationship has totally soured now.

    Final outcome: We happily exchanged our vows there, and got nice photos in the venue, but all in all, it was a very bad experience.

    Amazing Venue with Exceptional Service

    The Gladstone Hotel & their staff were absolutely lovely to work with leading up to the wedding. This venue I would classify as 'turnkey' as they handle the food, alcohol, supply the linens, chairs, serveware AND the venue has so much natural character you do not need excess of decor! I found the Gladstone to be the perfect venue for our day, especially if you are wanting a more sustainable venue. They were able to meet our needs/demands in a timely manner and there were no hiccups on our wedding day. I highly recommend this venue for any event.

    A Brilliant Evening. Thank you Gladstone!

    From our wedding coordinator, to our technician, bartenders and servers - everyone was wonderful to work with. Our wedding coordinator was really wonderful to work with, and we always felt like she cared about our experience and our big day. The food was DELICIOUS, our guests raved about how fresh and tasty it was. I recommend this venue for everyone, but especially same sex couples as you can be assured of a very friendly and welcoming experience.
