Facilities and capacity

The historic building was built in 1889 and features two floors of unique, multi-functional event spaces. Celebrate, dance, dine, and more in these event spaces to make your event a one-of-a-kind experience.

  • The Ballroom: A lavish reception of 140 seated can be held in the Ballroom. The venue’s exposed brick walls, restored pine flooring, and Victorian windows reflect the hotel’s timeless charm. It has a grand entrance that leads to the hotel lobby. For a larger event, the sliding doors can open to The Café to create a much bigger space that accommodates up to 250 guests cocktail style. It also includes a Green Room and an adjustable stage.
  • 2nd Floor Reception Gallery: The main Reception Gallery features original architectural details, reinstated pine flooring, and a lovely Victorian balcony that overlooks Queen St. West. Wonderful photo shoots can be done in the adjoining 10 Artist Studios. It has the capacity for 120 guests.
  • Melody Bar: Fresco pillars and neon lights combine to create Gladstone’s reworked, modern Victorian style. This event space includes the live music, private dinners, a DJ party and much more. It can accommodate up to 150 guests.

    Fabulous Experience

    We had our wedding here in May 2018 - we selected based on the the beauty and history of the space, and a business model that reflected our values in supporting arts and culture, local food, etc. We'd read some older and not so positive reviews about organization and ... View more responsiveness in the wedding planning team, and so we were a bit apprehensive about what the service would be like... In the end, we decided to take a chance and hope for the best. It was the best decision we made. Absolutely everything about our experience was superb, and truly we couldn't recommend this venue and the team there highly enough. The support and responsiveness throughout the planning process was excellent. We worked with Sarah and she was patient, helpful, and thorough in making sure everything was properly taken care of. On the day of our wedding, everyone at the hotel was so kind to us and to our guests. Things went very smoothly, food and beverages were excellent, and we felt completely at home. Thank you for helping us to make a wonderful memory with our family and friends - keep up the amazing work!

    This venue is absolutely stunning! We were married in the 2nd floor Gallery. As they were not exhibiting anyone's work during the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve, they allowed me to hang my late father's art work... The reception space is a bit small... We had 70 ... View more people...but it all seemed to work. The food was exceptional! I received many compliments on the food...especially the hors d'oeuvres. I will say that you do need to keep on top of the event coordinator. The first gentleman we had was extremely unresponsive. It took weeks to hear back from him and he would say that he was just so incredibly busy with other more pressing events. This was fine when we were months away from the wedding...not as we got closer. About 6 weeks before the wedding, I was passed on to a lady who was our new event coordinator (as the original gentleman was now going to be away on vacation the week of our wedding). She was much better, but neglected to inform me that she herself would be taking vacation from the Wednesday before the wedding until the day of the wedding...which created issues as I was supposed to load-in my father's art work the day before. Ultimately, she made it work, but it would have expected better communication beforehand. All in all, the venue was fabulous. Just keep in mind that you or your wedding planner will need to guide the boat quite a bit...

    The Gladstone fit our needs to a T. It checked all the boxes for the perfect wedding venue. Ceremony and reception in one venue, accommodation for our out-of-towners, prep rooms for the bridal party, lighting for the reception, and delicious in-house catering. It was the first ... View more and last venue we needed to look at as everything else failed to live up to the Gladstone's facilities and beautiful interiors for our intimate wedding. The staff were very helpful and always available and genuinely concerned about making sure everything ran smoothly for our special day. A++ would recommend.

    Great venue character, but so much was fumbled. The coordinator doesn't generally answer emails until it's the week before your wedding because he's too busy with the more immediate weddings (he told us this). It's been almost a week since the wedding and again not answering us, ... View more and there are several things the venue lost of ours, including a family heirloom plate, some rented linens, a speaker, and food we had brought in. The first round of staff was excellent. The late-night staff (dessert and late night buffet) served some awful food which the guests had to partially prepare themselves (poutine: fries and curds *next to* chicken(???) gravy in a dish with a skin on it on a tiny table in the darkest part of the room), never put out some of their food we had paid for, didn't cut and serve the cake though we paid an extra $100 fee for this for half an hour plus after the ceremonial cutting, didn't serve half the food we brought from outside sources, just a total mess. And the next morning, couldn't find the dish, couldn't find the food, and haven't responded to us at all since. Very disorganized late staff. Such a disappointment after the first half.

    The Gladstone Hotel provide a beautiful location for our wedding. Everyone was extremely helpful and insured our day went as planned. The food was excellent and affordable. And the bar selection was fantastic, especially for beer.
