About
Travel to Fogo Island Inn and discover a hotel built for connection, where the rugged landscape serves as a dramatic backdrop to the celebration of your love. Located in Joe Batt's Arm, Newfoundland, the Inn sits on Fogo Island, a remote outport community by the shores of the North Atlantic Ocean. Built to marry traditional outport Newfoundland architecture with contemporary design, this isolated yet accessible hotel has a range of spaces and venues to host the perfect gathering.
Our all-inclusive hospitality model means that your room rate includes all meals, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, Inn amenities, gratuities, and most land-based experiences and excursions. The Fogo Island Inn is a community-centred social business operated by the Canadian charity Shorefast, so all operating surpluses are reinvested in the local community.
Facilities and capacity
The main dining room at Fogo Island Inn offers sweeping views of the North Atlantic and has capacity for up to 64 guests.
The Gathering Hall is a multipurpose space that overlooks the main dining room and the North Atlantic. It features a wood-burning fireplace and a grand piano, and is well suited for private group suppers of 10 to 24 people.
Our Shed is an outbuilding just one minute’s walk from the Inn, and features a communal dining table and a family-style seafood menu. The Shed has a west-facing patio, perfect for catching the sunset, and can accommodate groups of 15 to 20 people.
Our most intimate private dining space is the Tea Room, a cozy room that can be configured for a cocktail reception or small group supper.

Cuisine
Our cuisine aims to preserve Fogo Island’s culinary heritage by reinterpreting local foodways and using traditional ingredients. Executive Chef Timothy Charles has a deep mastery of local foodways, driving the culinary program to marry fine-dining cuisine with the traditions of Fogo Island. On such a remote island, time is a crucial ingredient; we explore it through methods like preservation, fermentation, salting, and pickling. Our menus are seasonal, frequently shifting based on what can be fished, farmed, hunted, and foraged as close to home as possible — from wild berries and edible plants to root vegetables and North Atlantic seafood. The bar program reflects a similar philosophy, highlighting foraged ingredients and small-scale wine producers from Newfoundland’s traditional trading partners.
