I contacted the Fogo Island Inn to plan a surprise birthday destination trip for my then fiance Sharon back in May 2025, eleven months before our arrival. I also wanted to surprise her further by having a wedding. They immediately put me in contact with Jenny Mutton. On our initial call we clicked right away and she assured me we could make this happen. We arrived on her birthday, Sharon not even knowing we were going there until we got to Gander. Two days later the "photographer" I hired was Blanche the marriage commissioner. Our room (#22) was so nice we had the ceremony there. Jenny had the music I picked out and Blanche performed the ceremony. What was amazing is the entire staff knew about this! And it was a complete surprise and a huge success! We finished the day with a delicious private dinner in the tea room with Kat who was so wonderful! And yet that's only half the story. The real story is the history of Fogo Island, the vision of Zita Cobb, the very idea of ShoreFast, and the fabulous Fogo Island Inn. We had heard about it 4-5 years ago and knew that was our kind of place. It is truly unique. The staff, service, and especially the food were incredible! Meeting the locals for drives around the island, taking pottery and jam making classes, hiking, and learning about growing up on the island were all unforgettable. Sharon is a Hallmark girl and possibly the greatest comment she can give was that she had a true movie type Hallmark moment. Thank you Jenny, Blanche, Kat and the ENTIRE staff for making it happen. Our elopement at the Fogo Island Inn in October 2024 was magical, timeless, and unforgettable - made extraordinary by the kindness and attentiveness of the staff at the Inn.
The planning process was seamless. From initial consultations to final meetings, we felt at ease during every step. The staff at the Inn are very adaptable and creative; they completely reorganized our entire wedding day when the weather called for rain and high winds. During the planning process, they accounted for these different weather scenarios too, so we always felt like there was a plan for each possibility. The day was still so perfect that we didn’t even notice the weather outside.
From the moment we arrived, we were embraced by a warmth that made us feel like family. Every detail was attended to with care and thoughtfulness. The meals and cocktails were impeccable, and the team was understanding and flexible with our dietary restrictions.
Beyond the professionalism of the team at the Inn, their generosity truly stood out - they took the time to learn about us and our story, making the entire experience deeply personal and meaningful. Fogo Island Inn is more than just a beautiful venue for a wedding; it’s a place where you feel like you can fall in love all over again, and be truly connected with those that you love. -

A wonderful place for wedding and great team to communicate!
It was a wonderful experience to have an elopement at Fogo Island Inn. The hotel is spectacular with beautiful views and the most amazing part is the team at the hotel. I always feel free comfortable to communicate with the coordinator Jessica, who’s very considerate and always thinks two steps ahead of us. The day of coordinator Jenny is also very nice and helps a lot when dealing with changes such as flight delays.
You’ll have to stay at the hotel for at least here nights but I didn’t feel like wasted any time. Even staying at the hotel there are a lot of things to enjoy after the wedding event.
The foods were awesome and are provided with many options. The wedding package includes a cake with local berrys which is delicious! The service is at the top level. I would definitely recommend this place for other couples if it’s within your budget. I will be surprised if people feel regret after selecting this place for a wedding. -

We are so grateful to Jessica and the entire team at the Fogo Island Inn for hosting us for our micro wedding.
We were looking for a one of a kind, intimate experience for our closest friends and family. The Inn went above and beyond to deliver top notch service and food for the wedding and throughout our stay.
This was a truly exceptional experience and we couldn’t have dreamed of anything more!
To anyone who is thinking about booking their wedding (or a vacation) at the Inn, I would highly recommend it. -

What an amazing experience
My husband and I eloped at the Inn in October, 2021. It was everything we could have hoped for and more. The team at Fogo made us feel so special at every turn, answered all of our questions and made our wedding day and stay at the Inn so wonderful. -

Jen and I eloped at the Fogo Island Inn and could not be more happy. From the moment our helicopter touched down, we knew we were in for a unique and special experience. As our stay unfolded, we kept pinching ourselves. It was so good, it was almost hard to believe it was real!
As you spend time at the Inn, it is obvious that a tremendous amount of thought has gone into every detail. If you love design, you will love the Inn. If you love nature, you will love the Inn. If you love feeling taken care of, you will love the Inn.
Without exception, everyone at the Inn was lovely. They didn't feel like staff, they felt like new friends - new friends who were willing to do whatever it took to make our stay memorable.
The food bears special mention. Local ingredients coupled with time honored techniques resulted in an extraordinary culinary experience. Not only was everything delicious, but the meals left us feeling connected to the local culture and the island itself - something neither Jen nor I had ever felt before. Hats off to Tim, Andrew, Kim and the whole team.
All the details around our actual wedding were handled expertly and the ceremony itself was just perfect. Quiet, simple, meaningful. It was exactly what we wanted.
Fogo Island Inn offers an unparalleled destination and experience. It is adventure. It is luxury. It is thoughtful connection to the island. It was the perfect place, the perfect way, to start our adventure as husband and wife. Our hearts are full! -

Fogo Island Inn is a spectacular place for a weeding.
Fogo Island Inn was an absolutely spectacular and peaceful "place") to get married. We were married there, just out front of the property by the ocean and it is something we will always remember. The service was above and beyond and there was nothing they could or would not do for us as the catered to our every need. It was mid September and the weather was perfect. We relive the trip and event each time we look at the photos and cannot wait to return. -

I can't even begin to sum up what it is to be married at the Fogo Island Inn, except to say it is life-changing. While we were there, I described it as feeling like we were being adopted into an incredibly warm, kind, resourceful family, resulting in healing for myself, my husband, and our guests that we didn't even realize we needed. Fogo Island Inn is a gorgeous building in a stunning location that feels like a mix of Maine and Ireland, but what makes the experience is the people who you meet and who help you throughout your stay. The people are warmer than anyone I've ever met, organized but not strict, accommodating while still maintaining an environment that is comfortable for everyone. They knew guests by name, tracked individuals' preferences, and anticipated requests. We traveled with our parents, a couple of our closest friends, and their three-year-old daughter. Everyone - every single person - felt that the experience had astronomically exceeded every expectation, from picking our own floral bouquets to the mind-blowing seafood reception dinner, lovely live music, and little touches. I can't recommend the Inn enough. We are so excited to have the family of the Inn as a part of our story and are aching for our next visit.
