We are booking for April 2020. We have our venue pretty much narrowed down, photographer booked and cake. Now just figuring out little personal touches I want to do that I can start working on over the next couple years.

I'm on team 'short engagement'. We got engaged in February and are getting married at the beginning of September at the Bridgeland Riverside Community Association. We are very excited, but also very aware of things needing to get done quickly!

Hey, Gwen! Welcome! I love the mission idea! It's such a great one! Definitely must help to make tough decisions. Smiley smile What venue did you book for your wedding? Are you ordering cake too?

We have booked Willow Lane Barn. We are only having a cake for decoration, mostly. Just something to put a cake topper on and make our parents happy. We're fortunate to have a close friend making our cake, too! The dessert will be provided by our caterer.

    Hi Everyone,

We are getting married June 3, 2017. Which is coming up really quick. Thankfully, we had a year and half to plan and were able divide and conquer all the things that needed to be done! We now 3 months to just sit back and wait for the day to get here. Not going to lie, I am very glad we gave ourselves lots of time to plan so we can now relax.

That being said there were moments of stress and the best thing I found that we asked ourself was," Is this (venue, cake, random item) worth the effort and the stress that it is causing??" if the answer is "no" we found something that was easier to do, if the answer is "yes" then we stuck it out. We also learned off so many little things that need to be considered along the way, but again got to remember you can make the day simple or complicated as you like. Ours was a little complicated because we wanted a specific catering company to provide our food so that determined our venue choice. Did not realize till later that neither the catering place or the venue have cutlery, bartender or servers. Talk about extra work but it will all be worth it.

Good luck out there, keep is simple where you can. Remember the most important thing is your partner being there by your side the day of your wedding and forever after. Smiley winking

The other half is terribly laid back honestly he'd let me book the 13 thousand dollar venue if it made me happy I just don't want him hating where we get married he loves the golf course but seems to be riding a fence or not ready to make that choice yet.

What have u viewed? I couldn't decide either we travelled all the way to Bc to look at places too but I couldn't pick so I told my fiancé to just go ahead and find one and that'll be the end of it. He narrowed it down to two then I chose Kananaskis. I feel good about it no second thoughts. I'm the type that hates getting advice so not trying to give you advice but, that helped me feel good about picking a venue. It felt like there were too many options to make a decision and also so many diff factors; this one is nicer but I like the event manager at this one better, or this one is cheaper but I think I like the scenery at this one. SUPER HARD. The fact that my fiancé was handing me the options made me feel better because it's his wedding too. If he already liked it, that eased the stress around that decision.

Hi Jenn right now the estimated cost is at $10,100 not including alcohol. That price includes our gratuities and taxes. I can't seem to attach a document to this but if you want me to provide me your email I would not mind emailing you my cost estimate sheet and you can see what I have charged to my account and I can also forward you the 1st email that grey eagle sent me with all the information for booking as well

    Hello everyone,
Our wedding is in May and our engagement began last April. We will have had just over a year in lead time. Our wedding is actually in Olds, at the Willow Lane Barn. Being less than 3 months away, nearly everything is in place (fingers crossed!)
I have to say the best thing we did for planning was to write a mission statement (I know- I'm groaning too, but bear with me.) Ours was "To have a great party with all our family and friends." Whenever we came up against something we had trouble deciding on, we went back to this 'mission'. Did the rehearsal dinner really have to be at a restaurant or was pizza at his parents house okay? Well, would it impact our ability to have everyone we wanted there? Would it be any less fun or memorable when all is said and done? No? Good. Scrap the restaurant; pizza party is fine! Do we need gold chargers or chair covers or perfectly hued decorations? Does it impact our guest list? Does it impact the amount of good times? No? Good. Not worrying about it! Do we really need a babysitter at the hotel? Well, that's partially why my cousin and her young family are able to come, so yes. That's worth it.
We also found Meg Keene's book, A Practical Wedding Planner to be very useful.
Okay, my short post is now FAR too long! One last thing: we may have excess decor items to sell in June if anyone's interested! Some white Ikea lanterns and maybe some paper lanterns. I'll know more later.
    Alright! Stopping!

Mine is 46 days away is Cowtown Alberta! Yeeaa. I also had less than a year to plan, and just like you Bethany, I had no clue what it all entailed. The wedding wire to-do list is super helpful, and you can add and delete from it as you see fit. The budget and guest tool are also super awesome! Whatever the case, enjoying the process and the actual day, is all that matters. Smiley smile Smiley heart

Thanks emilie!! I like this. I picked kananaskis as my wedding destination. I got engaged in December 2016 and am getting married in August 2017 so super short time between engagement and marriage. I'm enjoying planning it but it is overwhelming sometimes as I have no idea what I'm doing!! Ppl always tell me it's my wedding I can do what I want , but I don't even know what all a traditional wedding entails really! I don't want to forget something that I was suppose to do. When is everyone else's wedding??
