Wedding of our dreams

We had the wedding of our dreams at Church and State Wines in July. The first day I visited the winery I knew this place was "the one". My husband and I came to see it way back in Oct 2019 and I fell in love. Everything about this place is beautiful - the vineyard, the building, the wine, everything. We went through so many changes throughout our planning process - changes with the staff we were working with, changes due to COVID and it was stressful planning at times. But Chelsey and the events team pulled our day together to make it everything we were hoping for

West Coast Wedding

Church and State is a beautiful venue. It does not require much in terms of decorating, it is so naturally beautiful. Nicole was also great to work with. My only criticism would be that it would be great for the location to find a nicer ways for brides to get the aisle. It is an awkward trek through a parking lot to get to the aisle and guests can see you. It would be great if you were escorted in a vehicle to the beginning of the aisle, but that may also be awkward to get out of! Nicole did a great job and dealt with issues seamlessly.

Awesome Venue

An incredibly beautiful venue. We had our ceremony on the hillside, and our cocktail hour and reception in the main building. We fell in love with it as soon as we walked in. Wooden beams, wine barrels and large windows looking out onto the vineyard. Bright open space which was more than enough for our wedding of 85 guests (and can easily accommodate more). No need to go overboard with decorations, this venue/property is special all on its own. Church and State has their own kitchen on site, so no need to find a caterer. We also had a number of guests with special dietary needs and they were nothing but accommodating. We gave Nicole and her team a copy of the seating chart indicating who needed special meals and it was all taken care of. Highly recommend!!

The venue is absolutely gorgeous. The staff are amazing. We absolutely loved every part of our experience and it made for the perfect day. Nicole and her team were such a pleasure to work with and care so much about the details. The enthusiasm they show makes the planning that much more fun. It rained on our big day and it didn’t matter for a second, the indoor option was arguably just as perfect as the outdoor one!! It was such a relief to know rain or shine, the day would be beautiful and stress-free. Highly recommend this venue and the team at Church and State!

This is one of the most stunning venues in Victoria, BC! A few tips for inquiring brides... the plated dinner choice was amazing, we chose stuffed salmon, tenderloin and stuffed chicken. With the help of a seating chart colour coded by guest meal options I provided, everyone's food was delivered hot within minutes unlike those terrible buffet lines. We also provided appies while we got some photos, which were a huge hit. It ended up being the most reasonable option too as we brought in dessert. The space is beautiful on it's own, so it requires little decorating, the thing to focus on more is making the space personalized with photos, etc. Seating is great and there's a lot...

I'd highly recommend Church and State Winery for your wedding!!

We fell in love with Church and State Wines a year and half before our wedding. We had an initial viewing and received a quote before booking. Church and State has in house catering so that was included. Based on the quote and viewing we booked the venue. In the year and a half before our wedding, we dealt with three different events people. Everything was great until the first meeting with the second events manager. We took our coordinator to the meeting and thank goodness we did because everything we had been told had changed. Our alternative ceremony location for rain was booked as a restaurant until 3 and the alternative didn't hold all our guests. Thousands of...

That being said, after we brought up all these issues and showed them our previous quote, they did honor our original price. However, they acted like they were doing us a favour and never apologized for the stress they put us through or the fact that they clearly didn't look at our original quote before meeting with us.

Once we got everything settled, we had an amazing wedding day. The grounds and building were beautiful. We had great service in picking our wine. The food was incredible and plentiful. We had great service from the serving staff.

I would recommend Church and State but only if you are willing to really keep an eye on your quotes and keep up communication with the events manager. We were lucky to have our wedding coordinator help with many of the issues. It is a beautiful site with great food but be prepared to deal with less than helpful management staff.

Church and State was a brilliant and beautiful venue to have our wedding at. They were more than flexible with EVERYTHING! Catering to decor and even let us make the last minute ceremony decision of inside or out the day of the wedding. The only concern was not having the ceremony programs placed where people could see them for the ceremony.... otherwise they were awesome and I would recommend them to anyone.

Church and State was a brilliant and beautiful venue to have our wedding at. They were more than flexible with EVERYTHING!
