Katrina and her team at Deka Events are absolutely fantastic. My husband and I worked with Katrina for over two years. She helped us choose a venue during the height of Covid when my husband and I could not travel to Quebec from the United States. And from there, she helped us design the most beautiful wedding of our dreams at the venue of our dreams. Most importantly, on the day of the wedding, we were able to be fully present and enjoy every minute of the day because Katrina and her team were in complete control of all the big and small details of the celebration.

Being an American who lives in New York, I could have never navigated the wedding planning from afar, particularly with all the challenges of Covid during the planning process. Katrina made it fun, stress-free, and over delivered in every aspect from the planning, design, and day-of coordination.

My husband and I had a fantastic experience working with Katrina and her team at Deka Events. We hired Deka Events for both design/decor conceptualization and month-of coordination for our wedding.

First of all, it was so much fun to work with Katrina. She is very warm and easy-going and she had so many great ideas and suggestions for us both in terms of decor and how we could organize our wedding. Katrina is also very professional, organized and had a lot of experience working with our venue. She made us feel like we were in great hands leading up to the wedding and on the big day.

For the design, Katrina understood the sort of rustic, outdoorsy yet elegant look my husband and I wanted and helped us bring it all together by helping us pick out our rentals, working with our florist and our venue, and giving me creative suggestions for things I wanted to make myself. I had a really fun session with Katrina and the florist to brainstorm and figure out how we wanted to decorate the reception room and ceremony site and I was so excited about all the ideas they proposed. And on our wedding day, the venue looked absolutely stunning! My husband and I were blown away. We could not have been more thrilled with the look. It felt magical!!

My husband and I were also extremely happy to have Katrina and the Deka team coordinate our wedding. Leading up to the wedding, Katrina helped us figure out what was important to us and how we wanted our day to go. It was great to have her establish all the logistics, coordinate all the different vendors and think of all the little details. As we got closer to the day, it was also really nice to have Katrina answer any of our questions and make us feel like she had everything under control. It definitely helped take away a lot of the stress of planning a big wedding!

And on the day of, Katrina and her team did an incredible job ensuring everything went smoothly despite a rainy start to the day. Even though we had a plan B, Katrina knew how much my husband and I wanted to get married outside and so she told us she would wait until the last possible minute before asking us to make a call and then work quickly with her team, the florist and the venue to set up either the indoor or outdoor option. Luckily, about an hour and a half before our ceremony, the weather cleared up, the sun came out and we were able to have a beautiful ceremony outdoors. Just that in itself made our day!

The rest of the day also felt perfect to us. We didn't have to worry about a thing and were able to truly enjoy our celebration. We know Katrina and her team did an amazing job in the background coordinating all the different parts of the wedding: the cocktail, the dinner, the dances, the speeches and even a cool sparkler activity that Katrina had suggested to us. The sparklers looked awesome in pictures and the guests loved it! We had such a blast at our wedding and we know our guests had a blast as well!

We quickly felt a trust that kept improving, which was particularly important because we planned our wedding in Montreal while living in Africa! Katt helped us look at the deals we were making with various vendors, and found areas where we could trim costs based on our numbers and needs. By the end, she came up with so many wonderful decor ideas and creative practical solutions, all while helping us save literally thousands of dollars. On the day of, we saw all of the small creative choices Katt helped us make - and some she just improvised herself - to make the ceremony, cocktail and reception areas of our venue just amazing. She helped us think through the flow of events in advance, and her expert coordination on the day made it so seamless that we enjoyed every minute. So many of our guests told us afterward that they’d never been to a wedding that flowed so well, that kept them fed, watered, entertained and up on the dance floor. Katt was a big part of this. She communicated amazingly with the venue on our behalf, including to handle some thorny situations ahead of the event, and coordinated so well with the DJ, our wedding party, and our families.

Beyond her formal role, Katt and her team just seemed to be enjoying themselves, which made them also joys to be around. We would work again with Katt in a heartbeat if the opportunity arose for another event.

I don't even know where to begin. Katrina, founder and principle planner of Deka Events was beyond wonderful to work with and exceeded every expectation. We met a few months before our big day and from then on she helped execute it as if it were her own while providing so much insight and clarity. Katt met with us one Sunday afternoon and in a few short hours she was able to learn enough about us and our goals in order to create the perfect wedding day timeline, which then became a document that I referred to daily.
