I'm Selma, owner and lead makeup artist / hair stylist of By Selma Beauty based in Calgary, Alberta. I specialize in creating dreamy, romantic soft glam makeup and hair styles for weddings and special events. Previously based in Vancoucer and Toronto where I studied makeup and hair artistry - with more than 10 years of experience creating bridal and event makeup and hair styles. In addition to years of experience, I am always staying up to date with trends and new techniques and have trained with Kim Kardashian's makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic. With the passion, experience and knowledge, I can help you create the perfect look for your special day, whether it be elegant and soft or romantic and glamorous , I aim to create a beautiful look that you feel confident in for your special day.

On the wedding day, Selma arrived on time, kept everything running smoothly, and created such a calm, positive atmosphere while we were getting ready. Every one of my bridesmaids loved their hair and makeup and were so happy with their final looks as well.
I also received so many compliments throughout the day about how well both my hair and makeup held up through our outdoor ceremony and reception in 32°C heat. Everything stayed in place from start to finish, and I still felt beautiful at the end of the night.

Selma did my hair and makeup for the day and all of my bridesmaids and mothers hair. Even those that were skeptical if they could get the hair they wanted left super impressed.
Selma coordinated with the rest of my day of team to set out a perfect timeline and brought on Joanne to complete the bridesmaid and moms makeup. She was also amazing and knew how to work with everyones skin.
