We engaged Karla at Black Earth Floral for our wedding in Calgary on October 9, 2022. Firstly, our florals were the actual most beautiful florals I have ever seen. They were perfect, they were exactly in the style and colour palette that we had discussed months earlier, and we were blown away. Secondly, from the start, Karla was so easy to work with. Super friendly and collaborative, and she didn’t try to upsell us when we were pretty sure we were looking for a more limited scope, including small bud-vase installations for our tables instead of large centrepieces. She helped us explore and get at the aesthetic we were looking for, and it turned out perfectly. In the lead-up to our wedding, she was patient when we sent her follow-up info about our colour palette having shifted, and all the info we sent clearly made its way into our file, because the final product responded to the update! And she was super communicative in advance when it turned out one of the flowers we had requested would not be available in time for our wedding. We have recommended and would recommend Karla and the BEF team to anyone getting married. We absolutely loved her!

We cannot say enough good things about Black Earth Floral!!! They absolutely blew us out of the water with the attention to detail and ability Karla had to take what we described over the phone and turn it into exactly what we wanted and more. Our flowers were absolutely stunning and personalized to us! I was blown away by my bouquet and my husband’s boutonniere, which were both stunning. Even when my husband first saw my bouquet he was surprised at how Karla had managed to nail it on the head and deliver a bouquet that was exactly what we wanted. The prices were incredibly reasonable as well, for the quality of product delivered I truly think she could charge a lot more, but we also appreciated how affordable our flowers were. Karla was very easy to deal with both over the phone and we communicated often via text which made things so much easier for us. Karla’s attention to detail is evident and it shows. She provided us with a bouquet, boutonniere, reception table runner, eucalyptus cuts for our place settings, and decorative flowers for the ceremony arch. The arch was a show stopper and was absolutely stunning. My bouquet was unique, stunning colours and beautifully arranged. Karla set up the ceremony arch flowers and table runners. The table runner was amazing, simple, and elegant. Every piece that Karla and Black Earth floral made for us was elegant, stunning, thoughtfully arranged, aligned with our vision, and exceptionally beautiful. We even still have the succulents from my husband’s boutonniere and my bouquet which we have kept and grown in pots in our home.

We cannot recommend Black Earth Floral enough. You will not regret choosing them for any component of your wedding or special occasion. We cannot wait to have them provide flowers for other events and celebrations for us in the future, we will definitely work with them again!!!

We recently had our wedding, and obviously due to COVID, we had to change all our original plans and ended up having it in my parents backyard with a much smaller group, and livestreamed it for everyone else. Initially, I had not planned to use real flowers. However, the package we booked with our photographer included a bouquet from Black Earth Floral. I was truly blown away by how beautiful the bouquet was. I wasn't sure it was going to be in our colours as it was pretty last minute, but it surpassed all of my wildest dreams. It included the most beautiful pinks and fuchsias, and included my favourite flower, the peony. Everyone at the wedding couldn't stop saying how beautiful and vibrant they were. I knew I was in good hands when I hired Karla as our wedding florist, but I was blown away again and again with her talent, execution and quality of flowers. She was the best vendor we had at our wedding!

Karla and her team not only created our exact floral DREAM for our big wedding at the Banff Springs Hotel, but she went above and beyond in SO many ways to ensure every single detail would be perfect.
For context... we had over 1000 single roses on our tables our dinner... over 1000!!! The amount of hard work it took to order, prepare and display that many roses so they looked perfect is immense.. and Karla executed it PERFECTLY!
On top of that, we had six giant (I mean, huge) arrangements for our ceremony that were not only absolute stunning, but EXACTLY what I have envisioned. It takes a lot of talent, passion and time to get a bride's vision exactly perfect, especially in such a gorgeous venue (and when the bride has high expectations ;)) and Karla did everything to make it all happen.
From day one, Karla was attentive, enthusiastic and genuinely interested in what we wanted to make our wedding florals special and perfect. Her passion shines through in everything she does, and I felt like her most important client throughout our entire planning process.
Karla is also flexible and makes you feel at ease throughout times when things change, or when you want to change your mind. I changed my vision for my bridesmaid bouquets only a month before our wedding, and Karla never flinched - she just encouraged me to choose what I wanted, and she made the MOST gorgeous bouquets for me and my bridesmaids.
You cannot put a price on being able to trust that a wedding vendor will get it right... and Karla doesn't only get it right... she is the definition of perfection.
I simply cannot recommend Karla more. Her flowers are the most beautiful flowers in Canada, she will go above and beyond to ensure you are happy and her passion and attention to detail ensures her arrangements are absolutely perfect. Everything Karla and her team touch turns to GOLD!!!

Never a disappointment when working with Black Earth! Karla did an astounding job for our wedding florals and definitely added a big “wow” factor to our big day and for our photos!

We frequent Black Earth floral for many occasions and are never disappointed. Karla is always so knowledgeable, cheerful and helpful when we come in every time!

Those who complain about pricing don’t understand that this is a high-end florist - you pay for quality! And you get what you pay for! They don’t cheap out at all.

This business is all about supporting local, and we love that!

Karla was so amazing to work with from beginning to end. After looking over some other floral sites and receiving other quotes I felt very lost and that I other companies didn't seem interested in working with me - it all felt very templated and run of the mill. Karla was great - I wasn't 100% as to what I wanted but we had our colors picked out and the one thing I did know was that I wanted sunflowers incorporated. She made great suggestions and anything I wasn't sure of she was great to respond and explain. The day of everything came together perfectly and I couldn't imagine a more beautiful arrangement for my bouquet, the groomsmen boutonnieres - everything! Thank you Karla, you and your team did an unreal job and our florals shine through in every photo.

She was great to work with and she was able to understand what I wanted even though I wasn't 100% sure. I changed my mind 3 times on center pieces and every new idea she was excited for and eager to make my vision work. Our bouquets were beautiful and smelled so fresh and amazing! The groom and groomsmen were not wearing formal attire so she made sure the boutonnieres weren't too heavy for their linen shirts. (I would have never thought of this issue!) Everything was beautiful and I highly recommend working with her for your wedding!

Working with Karla was absolutely awesome. I had a very clear vision of what I wanted my wedding to look like, but as someone who knows next to nothing about flowers, I was not able to clearly articulate what exactly it was that I wanted. Karla was able to listen to the very little detail I was able to provide and knew what to do to make my vision come to life. She consulted me on colours and size, but I completely left the design in her hands and she did not dissapoint! I was blown away by my bouquet and my bridesmaids' and walking into the reception room and seeing the centerpieces that she designed completely took my breath away. There is not another florist that I would recommend for a wedding if you want the flowers to be perfect and to not have to worry about anything! Her skill and artistry is absolutely outstanding.
