Beware of after purchase service with creme couture!i
I visited Creme Couture in the fall of last year with my daughter, as she is getting married June 2026. We thought she found the perfect dress, and the purchasing experience was great. Michelle, the owner, took my daughter‘s measurements and told us that she ordered the appropriate size of dress. She said that my daughter‘s measurements were between two sizes, so she ordered up to the next size. We trusted her, as she is the seamstress, as well as the owner. We signed the contract based on that. As per required, we paid in full when the dress was ordered. The dress came in, hugely oversized! I am sure that this is a scam, because crème couture would make a lot of money from such extensive alterations. When my daughter initially picked up the dress, she expressed concerns that the dress was so huge. However, she was told that she signed a contract and would have to take the dress. My daughter lives in Toronto, so she didn’t want to go to Creme Courure for alterations., As the drive is not convenient. Also, why trust them with the alterations when they made such a terrible error in ordering the wrong dress size?
She took the dress to a seamstress in Toronto, and she refused to do the alterations as the whole dress needed to be taken apart and remade. She then took it to another seamstress, and so far it has taken her 23 hours to take apart the dress and resize it, at a cost of $80 an hour.! This seamstress said that the dress had to be decreased by FOUR dress sizes! Four sizes is not the same as being between two sizes and ordering up to the next size. The Toronto seamstress said that it would have been cheaper and much quicker to have a custom dress zone from scratch. The worst part is, my daughter called crème couture and told them about the situation. They said to bring the dress to crème couture on a Thursday and they would take a look at it. My daughter works downtown Toronto and wasn’t able to go with that assigned time. So she asked if she did bring the dress back to crème couture for alterations, would there be some consideration/discount in their alteration fees, due to the fact that the dress was ordered far too large. They said absolutely not as she had signed a contract. My daughter then asked if they would be able to provide her with an estimate of the alterations that would be needed. Once again they said no, they were not able to do that. Now, if Kim couture did order a half size up, as they said, they did, the alterations would be very minor. And they should have been able to give an estimate because they do alterations, as well as sales, and they should have an idea of alteration costs.
I feel they should have offered to order the correct size dress when my daughter picked up the dress in the store. It was. THEIR error. They are supposed to be the experts and be able to take accurate measurements. But they told her that she must take this dress. Then, they could have reimbursed much of the alteration cost, but crème couture said absolutely not. This is pathetic after purchase service. I am disgusted by these business practices. I do believe that the dress was ordered in such a huge size, so that the alteration cost would be high and crème couture would benefit from doing these alterations. Otherwise, I have no idea why they would be so inaccurate in their measurements. I want to let you know that this could happen to you if you deal with this business. Thankfully, I have been able to save some brides from going there. Some of my friends have daughters that are getting married this year, and they were going to go to crème couture, based on our great purchasing experience. Now they have heard this horror story, and the fact that my daughter has paid double for her wedding dress. We are one week away from the wedding, and the dress is still being worked on. However, crème couture has caused a lot of stress and additional costs, as well as demonstrating what a poor business they are to deal with. My daughter had actually written a very glowing review from her purchasing experience. We never expected this to be the outcome. BUYERS BEWARE!!Crème Couture's reply:

While we respect every client's right to provide feedback, we feel it is important to clarify a few factual points for the readers.
Your recollection of the appointment does not match recorded facts. You stated that you paid in full when the dress was ordered but our bank records show that you did not. Instead you paid a deposit on order and the balance upon collection of the dress.
Contrary to your opinion, we do not “make a lot of money” from alterations - our rates are substantially lower than the $80/hour that you say you are paying. Neither do we deliberately order dresses too large so that we can charge for alterations. We do our best to minimize the time and work required to make each dress a perfect fit. We know very well that alterations can be stressful for brides and it is simply not in our interest to try to prolong this aspect of our service. In this case, a rough estimate (since we have not been able to pin the bride in her dress ) of the cost of the work to make the dress fit her bodice would be $190 - $250 at the most.
At Crème Couture, gown sizes are not selected arbitrarily. Bridal sizing differs significantly from regular clothing sizing, and every order is based on the bride's measurements - specifically on the largest of the hip, waist or bust measurements relative to the designer's official size chart. It is not unusual for a bride to be two sizes or more larger in one of those measurements than another and the dress will be taken in in those areas accordingly. If a bride's measurements fall between sizes, the discussion often involves whether to order the smaller or larger size. A gown that is slightly larger can typically be altered, whereas a gown that is too small may not be able to be let out sufficiently. This can result in the purchase of a dress that may be slightly larger than the bride’s largest measurements, and substantially larger than her smallest - and that is resolved through the alterations. Detailed notes are taken whilst discussing the choice of size, we have these on file. In the end it is totally up to the Bride to choose the size she wants.
In this particular case since it is simply not possible to provide an accurate alterations quotation without first evaluating the gown and fit requirements directly, we invited the bride to bring the gown back to us so that our alterations team could assess it in person. Unfortunately, that was not possible. Nevertheless, we can state with confidence that it has never taken our seamstresses anything like 23 hours to take in any of our customers gowns! We agree that the costs that you have incurred are substantial - we are at a loss to explain them. Your daughter’s dress is one we know well and have worked on many times, and while we have never charged the costs that you have experienced we do respect your right to use another seamstress.
We understand that wedding planning can be stressful, and we are sorry that this experience did not meet expectations. We sincerely wish your daughter a beautiful wedding day and every happiness in the future.

Amazing Experience
I went to Crème Couture for my first bridal appointment and it was absolutely amazing! Michelle was a great help, she understood exactly what I was looking for. I really felt like I got that “Kleinfeld” experience just like on TV. I ended up saying yes to my perfect dress that same day! The alterations process was very great! My dress required a lot of alterations when it came to the hemming, and it turned out perfect! I would definitely recommend any bride here! -

AMAZING!! My first experience at Creme Couture was amazing, beautiful, stress-free, comfortable, and I felt like a princess. I am a bride to be looking for a dress. Heather was my consultant. First of all she was absolutely a pleasure to have help me. Her ora was so sweet, soft, gentle and beautiful, I'm glad I had her help me.
Heather listened to everything I had to say, took everything into consideration, it also helped that I had an idea of what I was looking for lol but my experience was so blissful and after I tried on many different ones... I knew after the FIRST DRESS...FIRST ONE, I knew it was my dress. She killed it. She knew what I wanted, what would suit me, she kept to my budget VERY WELL I might add, treated me like a queen, gave me options, was so patient, kind I SAID YES TO THE DRESS!!!!!!!! I also got a beautiful surprise after saying YES! Which was such a beautiful touch. I wish I could do this every year lol but I'm so glad I chose Creme Couture to get my first and ONLY wedding dress!
MY piece of advice, go in there kind of knowing what you're looking for, just a general idea, and they will have your back. I'll be going back for the Mother of the Bride dress, and my Maid of Honor and Brides maid dress! I couldn't see myself going anywhere else for the rest of my dresses!

I had been to a few bridal boutiques before coming to Crème Couture, and being plus-sized with a *very* specific vision, I had been having trouble finding a dress that felt like me. I was having a bit of the same issue at Crème Couture at first, mainly because the type of dress I was looking for only existed in a few designers' collections, and none of the samples were in my size, so it took a bit of trial and error before we straight up just started looking at dresses that I wasn't going to be able to try on.
As soon as my dress was brought into the bridal gown room (which is absolutely stunning by the way), I knew it was the dress, but they went above and beyond so that I could envision it on myself. There was NO way I was going to be able to get the sample on (which I knew), but my stylists had the idea to find a dress in my size that had a similar silhouette and fabric. They had me put that dress on, and then one of them stood behind me and held the sample to my body so that I was able to see how the dress would look with the unique neckline I was looking for.
Obviously, that isn't the most ideal scenario, and it would be amazing if there were plus and straight-sized samples of every dress, but I also recognize that that's a huge monetary AND space cost. I had other bridal boutiques straight up tell me that I could "hold the dress up and see how it looks", but Crème Couture was the only boutique that took the time to get me into a similar style and then "fake it" with the actual dress to see the parts that mattered.
I ended up ordering the dress, it came in, I LOVED it even more once it was on me, we did alterations, etc etc, but where they really stood out was on the service side of things. A few months before my wedding, my grandfather was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and given a timeline that was going to put his last days within weeks of the wedding (before or after, we didn't know at the time). I didn't say anything, but the week of my final fitting, he took a turn.
I wanted him to see me in my dress, and I had called to ask whether or not I take the dress home with me after my final fitting. I was told that no, the dress would need some final touches and a steam, and that I would normally pick it up a few days before the wedding. I said that was fine, I was just curious as I wanted my grandfather to see it, but that I'll take some photos. Five minutes later, I got a call from the owner who had rearranged the alterations schedule to fit me in for a final fitting that evening, she would have the seamstress finish the sewing while I was there, and I could bring it home to show him, and then just bring it back the week of the wedding for the final steam.
I am so grateful to the team there, as he did end up passing away 3 weeks before my wedding day. Because of their kindness, I was able to try it on for him and have those memories. The dress itself was stunning, but the thoughtfulness and service gave me the most priceless gift.

I had the most wonderful, perfect and magical experience at Creme Couture where I found my dress. From the moment we walked into the boutique we were welcomed so warmly and were given comfy slippers to wear during the appointment. Michele greeted me right away and started asking me questions while someone else brought all my guests back to the area we were going to be for the duration of my appointment. I had a designer in mind (Madi Lane) and immediately let Michele know this. She brought me over to the section of dresses and I immediately saw the dream dress I had wanted to try on. I felt like I bonded with Michele instantly and she was so kind and genuine. She reminded me to take time during the day to just breathe, not be stressed, and enjoy every moment. It was so special. She was incredible at knowing what I liked and didn't like, even when I thought I liked something. She knew just from my expressions and reactions to dresses which ones I should steer away from and which ones I should focus on. She was so respectful of my budget as well. I cannot say enough good things about our experience here. The music, the atmosphere, the many mirror and lighting options. My list goes on and on. I cannot wait to continue working with Michele and the lovely team at Creme Couture during my bridal journey and I will be sure to recommend this boutique to anyone who wants the most PERFECT experience for trying on dresses. Joselyn was amazing at helping me pick my dream dress, she was so attentive, kind, and patient. She made my day so special and my group agreed, we had so much fun with her! The store is so beautiful, so many amazing options, great pricing, and I found the most beautiful veil to go with my dress as well ❤️ travelled an hour and a half to visit and it was WELL worth it! My experience choosing my wedding dress was more than amazing. Same day appointment, weather wasn’t great so we were running late & they were more than accommodating. Kennedy listened to everything I was throwing at her for ideas & on the third dress when my mom gave her the run down of who I am as a person, she cracked the code & we found the one!!! Truly felt the love in the room with this one on one experience. They are even so accommodating of the fact I live 16 hours away, they’re allowing my mom to pick up the dress when it is in & allowing my entire group of gals to come for my fitting! Can’t wait to go back & look for the perfect bridesmaids dresses! Can’t recommend enough!!!Crème Couture's reply:

Caring and friendly
Michelle and her team took great care of me in my search for a wedding dress! Darlene was very knowledgable and helped me pick out the perfect dress for me - a style I never would have picked myself! Cathy was incredibly helpful and quick with alterations and had no issue with making further tweeks after the first fitting. And Michelle is the mosr kind and patient owner never making us feel rushed or unaware. She took lots of time to listen and answer questions and make sure I was 100% happy with my dress. I had a very tight timeline for ordering and fitting my dress and they were very accommodating to make sure I had my dress ready on time! -

Michele and her staff were absolutely amazing, I walked in completely unsure of what I really wanted, orginially thought, fit-n-flare, but when I hated that style on myself, she was quick to bring a few more sample dresses in various styles, I thought on the first visit maybe I had found my dress, but something was missing, when I went back a couple months later she was ready with more to try and ultimately I found my dress, it is stunning, her guidance on the veil was spot on. I can't wait for my dress and day to arrive! Thanks Michele!
