In short: the DJ performance was acceptable. The MC performance was inexcusable.
If you're planning an important event, hire a DJ/MC whom you can meet directly beforehand and who will be personally invested in the success of your event.
We hired Soiree for DJ and MC services at our wedding in May after seeing their social media advertising. During the planning process, the owner, Sam, was professional, reassuring, and provided an easy-to-use planning app. We felt confident in our decision.
In hindsight, the first warning sign was that we would not be assigned a DJ until shortly before the wedding. We spent considerable time outlining our timeline, important moments, music preferences, and the type of MC we wanted: charismatic, engaging, and comfortable working a room. We were assured that our assigned DJ would meet those expectations.
We were also told that Soiree had performed at our venue previously and was familiar with the sound system and layout. We later learned from venue staff that they had no record of previously working with the company.
Unfortunately, things fell apart on the wedding day.
Our DJ arrived in worn jeans, running shoes, and a zip-up track jacket, which we felt was inappropriate attire for a wedding. More concerning, he struggled to get the sound system working properly and did not effectively coordinate with venue staff to resolve the issue. Members of the bridal party ultimately had to step in to help coordinate a solution.
It quickly became apparent that the planning information we had provided had not been thoroughly reviewed. Throughout the reception, we repeatedly had to explain key details, including our music selections, speech timing, and scheduled events. Many of our requested songs were not incorporated until well into the reception, reinforcing our impression that he was learning the details on the fly.
The biggest disappointment was the MC performance. Announcements were rushed and blunt, transitions felt awkward ("Ok, let's keep this moving" was the transition after a heartfelt speech from the mother of the bride), pacing and timing were inconsistent, and music was frequently stopped for extended periods until he was told to resume it.
As the evening progressed, members of the bridal party were forced to take over MC responsibilities to keep important moments on track. At one point, after struggling through several key moments, the MC handed members of the bridal party the mic and told them to "figure it out" rather than continue his responsibilities.
Before posting this review, we shared our concerns directly with Sam. His response was essentially: (1) an apology that we were disappointed, (2) that the DJ disputed our feedback, (3) that they would work to better prepare DJs for future events, and (4) that weather and venue layout was the reason for the issues. While the weather was poor, the reception and dance area were covered, and we took those circumstances into account when providing our feedback. Regardless, understanding the venue layout and preparing accordingly is part of the service we paid for and expected to receive.
While we appreciated the response, it cannot undo what happened on our wedding day. This was the only vendor from our wedding that did not earn a 5-star review from us. -

From the moment we connected with Sam at DJ Soirée, we knew our wedding was in great hands. Sam was incredibly knowledgeable, very familiar with our venue, and made us feel confident that he and his team would make our day truly special. On the wedding day, everything ran seamlessly. The emceeing was excellent, the Photo Booth was a huge hit with our guests, and the dance floor stayed packed all night long. We couldn’t recommend DJ Soirée more highly! -

We had the pleasure of having DJ Karl and Sam at our wedding, and they truly made the day unforgettable! From our initial consultation to the last song of the night, Karl and Sam were professional, attentive, and a delight to work with. Karl and Sam took the time to understand our music preferences and crafted a playlist that perfectly matched the vibe we were going for. The transitions between songs were seamless, and they had everyone dancing all night long. Our guests are still raving about the music. Karl and Sam were flexible and accommodating, making sure every detail was just as we wanted. Their setup was top-notch with great sound quality. We couldn’t have asked for a better DJ to be part of our big day. Highly recommend! -

I’ll start off by saying I chose soirée entertainment based on the fact that they let us customize all of own music. We wanted very specific songs to be played and they were. The DJs have an app that connected to Spotify and I could upload or a specific music request songs and playlist there . We had a couple meetings to review the music before the wedding with ample time to make changes. I love the way their online system works with the wedding timeline that allows you to customize and visualize all the music together by category. The company was very communicative. We use them for both Dj services indoor and outdoor at our Magic Hill Farm wedding. Both were executed wonderfully. We also got a photo booth from the company and our guest really loved it. I would definitely recommend soirée entertainment.

"Sam and Dennis were amazing on our big day. The music went off so well, there were super clean transitions between songs and they knew how to get everyone out on the dancefloor. Sam was even checking in with us throughout the night to make sure we thought everything was going well. He was so kind. We couldn't have asked for anyone better to DJ our wedding. They are worth every penny."
