We cannot recommend DJ Derrick (DJ Boogie Fresh) highly enough! He did an absolutely incredible job with our wedding reception at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel on May 30th, 2026.

From the very beginning, Derrick was engaged throughout the entire planning process, offering valuable guidance that made a huge difference. When the big day arrived, he truly showed up big time. He was flawlessly prepared, and the sound and lighting setup he provided was phenomenal—honestly, the value for money in this respect alone was unmatched.

Beyond the music, when we found ourselves in a pinch looking for an MC, Derrick stepped right up and completely killed it. Most importantly, when the party started, he kept our guests absolutely glued to the dance floor. We’ve received so many compliments from our guests about the music and the vibe. We are so incredibly happy with his work—if you want a professional who will elevate your wedding, hire DJ Boogie Fresh!

We hired Derrick and his assistant Kevin for our wedding on May 23, 2026, and the entire experience was seamless from start to finish.

From the moment we submitted an inquiry through his website, Derrick was professional, responsive, and organized. He quickly set up an initial meeting to discuss our vision, followed by a detailed questionnaire closer to the wedding date and a final meeting to review everything. Every interaction was personable and efficient. Derrick clearly has a lot of experience and knows exactly what questions to ask to understand a couple's vision. He took the time to get to know us, learn our preferences, and then used his expertise to bring everything together.

What impressed me most was how he managed our very different musical tastes. I love DJ remixing, R&B, reggaeton, and high-energy party music. My fiancé (now husband) prefers smoother transitions, punk rock, and classic hits. On top of that, my family is Latina and his family is Filipino. Derrick had quite the challenge in front of him, but he absolutely nailed it.

During dinner, he curated elegant music that perfectly matched the atmosphere of our venue, something he instinctively knew to do without us even mentioning it. He even slipped in some classy cover songs that I loved, which was a wonderful surprise. He understood exactly how to elevate the experience while maintaining the sophisticated atmosphere we wanted.

Then, when it was time to party, Derrick and Kevin truly delivered. They built the energy throughout the evening until the dance floor was packed. Derrick blended great beats with some creative remixing for me and switching to smooth transitions that my husband appreciated. He found the perfect balance. He also incorporated punk rock, cultural music for the Titas and Titos, and songs that brought guests of all ages onto the dance floor.

Derrick also MC'd throughout the evening, handling announcements and transitions with clarity and charisma. Everything flowed naturally and kept the night moving smoothly.

Another thing we appreciated was that there was absolutely no pressure when discussing additional rentals and services. We chose to rent four 360 lights and his digital photo booth, and both were fantastic additions. The lighting elevated the party atmosphere, and the photo booth was a huge hit with our guests. Derrick even provided us with copies of all the photos and videos afterward, which has become a wonderful keepsake from our wedding day.

The best compliment we can give is that our guests are still talking about the music. So many people came up to us during and after the reception to tell us how amazing our DJs were and that this was one of the best weddings they had ever attended.

Derrick and Kevin were a huge part of making our reception unforgettable. They read the crowd perfectly, kept the energy high, and created an experience that truly reflected us as a couple. We are incredibly grateful for everything they did and would hire them again without hesitation.

We had DJ Kevin from Boogie Fresh DJ Collective at our wedding, and he was absolutely amazing! From start to finish, his communication was clear and professional and he really took the time to understand what we wanted and made sure all our concerns were met. Derrick played at our wedding this past weekend and was a master with the music. Throughout the whole process, you could tell Derrick is a pro at this. He had his whole setup, told us what we needed to know upfront and was super flexible when last minute changes came up. During the event, he had a pulse on the crowd throughout the night and was somehow able to have something for everyone. The wedding was a multicultural one and Derrick was able to roll in some traditional music as well (he asked for some recommendations early on). Probably one of the highlights of the night! From planning to final execution on the day of our wedding, everything felt seamless. And let me tell ya — the day didn’t come without its challenges! Just before our vendors arrived for set up, a city wide power outage hit and our venue was directly affected. Despite the uncertainty ahead, the Boogie Fresh team remained calm and flexible, ready to roll through with battery powered speakers.
Power was restored hours later just in time for the ceremony, but regardless, this team never missed a beat. They brought our vision to life and nailed every aspect of the day. Kevin is an exceptional and skilled DJ, knows how to work the crowd, takes requests and spontaneously mixes them on the spot. Smoothest transitions I've ever heard and every track makes you want to dance. I've been to a lot of events where DJ simply runs a playlist, not Boogie Fresh Collective. If you want to hear art in it's purest form, Kevin is the man for the gig. You want to have a good time and keep the party going, Kevin is the DJ that can do that for you.
