In February 2020, we held a private cultural wedding ceremony in our home and chose to include a few traditional elements of the culture for our guests to enjoy. We reached out to Golden Chefs to inquire about a fruit display we were inspired to create and they were prompt to accommodate our request with short notice.

We shared some photos that inspired our creation for the carved fruit display and fruit platter and specified the number of guests we were accommodating throughout the event. The carved fruit display and fruit platter was reasonably priced and worked within our budget. We were extremely satisfied with the presentation, the quality of the fruit provided and the beautiful craftsmanship and work that went into the creation.

We want to be very professional in replying, as we always respect our customers all the time. We are very sorry to see this happen and hear this happen. As a Company we were very pro active and informed the weather is very warm and humid on 6th July 2019, and wanted to delay the set up as late as possible to maintain this cakes safety a priority. We changed our plans in the last minute owing to the very hot weather and our pastry chef personally went to the location and built this cake up to avoid any challenges. While we do not want to defend our selves 100% or want to say that we are perfect, as we believe Customer is right most of the time. However the Cake was perfect once set up at 5 pm, and the pictures in the links above will show evidence. More than all everyone can see this is a cake worth more than 1000.00 dollars, and we sincerely obliged to the customers very tight budget, but with very high expectations.
In our Defence
Firstly the cake was displayed on an unsteady glass and acrylic movable table,( as everyone can see even in their posted pictures ) so if some one hit the table this cake can tilt, which has so many layers of soft & moist 6 inch tall cakes.
Secondly the weather was very humid and warm and above 30 Degrees, even most of our friends freezers & car ACs were not coping up, owing to the extreme high heat and humidity.
Thirdly the hall was a tiny hall, cramped with lots people which will make the environment even warmer and humid. More than all they even had live cooking stations nearby the cake, which makes the situation even worse.
Fourthly if a Cake full of rich cakes, including cheese cake are displayed in room temperature for more than 4 hours, it is not safe for human consumption under any health & food safety acts & rules.So I am not sure how, as the owner of the Company, that we are responsible after 4 hours of serving food, in this case this elaborate, rich and moist cake.
Fifthly, when I received the call at 9.05 pm, I answered the call on the first ring and explained that the cake has been in room temperature for more than 4 hours and there is very little we can do to steady the ship.
How many companies will answer the phones at 9 pm in the night, and we are very proud to say that we are at service 24 / 7 to do our best towards our customers.
Sixthly, I even wrote a very professional email to the bride by around 10.30 pm that same day, mentioning please enjoy the celebration and lets see what we can do, to make this uncontrollable accident in to something pleasant, even in the tiniest way possible.
Finally, the Yellow colour point which is in the complain is Gold, just as per the artwork design we had provided and which has been posted by the customer, so I am sure everyone can see the similarities as in the approved artwork. How many company's provides Cake Artwork as ours, for a $ 685 Cake.
Once again, I want to emphasise that we are very sorry to see this happen, but want to sincerely clarify that it is purely wrong to point the fingers only at us, and we have been in business for 15 years, and any customer can see our reviews on Google, FB and in our website goldenchef.ca which has more than 100 s of great reviews from happy Clients.
As a company, if we had a tool to avoid this happening, we would have definitely used it, and we will do our best to take this as a learning curve and only improve our selves.
While we cannot control others and outer environment,we will do our best to control and enrich our selves to do our best to all our very valued customers.

excellent service and good products and a very unique company

This vendor will scam you and leave you hanging at the end of the day. He will accuse the customer for irrelevant items to defend his business. The STURDY table used for the wedding cake was rented for $200 and I did not have a tight budget as the cake was a gift from a family member. Owner claims it wasn’t suitable for the cake to justify his poorly made cake. The venue is for 300 guests and I had 200 guests yet the vendor claims the guests over heated the room LOL! I cannot believe the number of excuses and lies he made. BEWARE OF BUYING FROM THIS VENDOR!!!
Quite the disappointment when you put your full trust in someone who says they can create a wedding cake which only came to fall apart after delivery. As we were standing in the receiving line and quite busy, we were not able to see the cake from the time of delivery. My cake had tilted to the right as we cut the cake around 7:45pm (see google review for photos)I had around 30 of my 200+ guests approach us about their concern the cake was about to fall over. This does not include the guests who had seen it and not approached us about it. Such an embarrassing experience. I quickly asked the kitchen staff to remove it immediately and keep it out of sight. If I could go back in time, I would’ve hired someone else and paid a little more for a quality job which I paid $685 for. My theme was silver and blush pink and I was given yellow parts throughout, and I never requested anything other than blush pink and silver. Very sloppy job, clearly no effort was put into creating it. I was left in tears. I called the owner Gamini and he stated it was 9pm and too late to do anything about it. One of the most memorable nights of my life turned into an embarrassment. Here is your 1 star review, I’d give you ZERO stars if I could. You know well who I am and I will let others know before they purchase anything else from you.
