We want to be very professional in replying, as we always respect our customers all the time. We are very sorry to see this happen and hear this happen. As a Company we were very pro active and informed the weather is very warm and humid on 6th July 2019, and wanted to delay the set up as late as possible to maintain this cakes safety a priority. We changed our plans in the last minute owing to the very hot weather and our pastry chef personally went to the location and built this cake up to avoid any challenges. While we do not want to defend our selves 100% or want to say that we are perfect, as we believe Customer is right most of the time. However the Cake was perfect once set up at 5 pm, and the pictures in the links above will show evidence. More than all everyone can see this is a cake worth more than 1000.00 dollars, and we sincerely obliged to the customers very tight budget, but with very high expectations.
In our Defence
Firstly the cake was displayed on an unsteady glass and acrylic movable table,( as everyone can see even in their posted pictures ) so if some one hit the table this cake can tilt, which has so many layers of soft & moist 6 inch tall cakes.
Secondly the weather was very humid and warm and above 30 Degrees, even most of our friends freezers & car ACs were not coping up, owing to the extreme high heat and humidity.
Thirdly the hall was a tiny hall, cramped with lots people which will make the environment even warmer and humid. More than all they even had live cooking stations nearby the cake, which makes the situation even worse.
Fourthly if a Cake full of rich cakes, including cheese cake are displayed in room temperature for more than 4 hours, it is not safe for human consumption under any health & food safety acts & rules.So I am not sure how, as the owner of the Company, that we are responsible after 4 hours of serving food, in this case this elaborate, rich and moist cake.
Fifthly, when I received the call at 9.05 pm, I answered the call on the first ring and explained that the cake has been in room temperature for more than 4 hours and there is very little we can do to steady the ship.
How many companies will answer the phones at 9 pm in the night, and we are very proud to say that we are at service 24 / 7 to do our best towards our customers.
Sixthly, I even wrote a very professional email to the bride by around 10.30 pm that same day, mentioning please enjoy the celebration and lets see what we can do, to make this uncontrollable accident in to something pleasant, even in the tiniest way possible.
Finally, the Yellow colour point which is in the complain is Gold, just as per the artwork design we had provided and which has been posted by the customer, so I am sure everyone can see the similarities as in the approved artwork. How many company's provides Cake Artwork as ours, for a $ 685 Cake.
Once again, I want to emphasise that we are very sorry to see this happen, but want to sincerely clarify that it is purely wrong to point the fingers only at us, and we have been in business for 15 years, and any customer can see our reviews on Google, FB and in our website goldenchef.ca which has more than 100 s of great reviews from happy Clients.
As a company, if we had a tool to avoid this happening, we would have definitely used it, and we will do our best to take this as a learning curve and only improve our selves.
While we cannot control others and outer environment,we will do our best to control and enrich our selves to do our best to all our very valued customers.
