We tried to plan a small, intimate wedding with this venue through their advertised package and the entire experience was just awful. The contact for the venue took forever to reply to emails and we would have to send multiple follow-ups just to get answers to basic questions. He said that they don’t reach out to clients until 1 month before the event date to finalize details and that’s why he was ignoring my emails which is just B.S. If you work in events you KNOW you need to be available to answer clients questions, and if you’re planning an event, you also know you need to know information from the venue well before a month prior to the event! Just ridiculous.
Anyway, when COVID numbers starting going back up and venues were closing in Jan. this year (our wedding was supposed to be early Feb.), we decided it was best to cancel for the safety of our guests. WE had to be the ones to reach out and cancel because even though legally they weren’t allowed to host us anymore (based on government restrictions) they never contacted us. We sent 2 emails asking for confirmation they received our cancellation and we never received any kind of response from the venue - even to this day.
Overall, they never tried to build any kind of positive connection with us which is incredibly disheartening considering we had trusted them to plan the most important event of our lives. This experience honestly ruined our wedding plans moving forward, we have no desire to even move ahead with another venue because this experience was so horrible and upsetting. Please do yourself a favour and find another venue for your event. They clearly don’t care about their clients and don’t take their responsibility as a venue and event space seriously.

Hey, Hartman…enjoy my $500 deposit for a wedding that never took place and for services you didn’t even attempt to provide. Thanks for never replying to my emails and just running off with my money - hope you enjoy the bad karma. -

For context, I have run hundreds of corporate events all around the world and the experience with The Hartman is the worst I have ever had. We did a site visit 7 weeks ago, spoke about what we were looking for, and gave a budget. For six weeks we chased them; called, emailed and even stopped by and left written notes about how we needed to finalize the verbal cost and outline in writing. After chasing them for six weeks they came back with a budget three times what we had told them we were working with. The cost is not in line with market pricing, their attitude is unprofessional, and the way they handle their business is horrendous. Would not recommend to anyone for any event. -

The Hartman was stunning for our wedding! Every single detail was carefully curated by the owners and the availability to the planning process was top notch. It was truly the perfect venue of old world magic mixed with individual flavour for our wedding! I cannot say enough good things about this venue, the owners and our wedding day here! -

The Hartman was exactly what we were looking for in a venue. It is an absolutely beautiful space. Sandra and her husband Alex are very friendly and they truly make you feel welcome and at home. We had a intimate ceremony inside the venue and a beautiful tented reception outside in the garden. Email correspondence was at some points unorganized but most of our questions and concerns were answered during our in-person meetings. They really do offer the entire wedding package and can cater to so many different needs. The Hartman is a beautiful unique venue that has so much to offer. If you want a wedding that is anything but cookie-cutter you should definitely check out the Hartman!
