We had our wedding at the Stone Hearst in July 14 2018. Let me start with this: Mark (the owner and builder of the Stone Hearst) is a great guy, one that goes out of his way to solve your problem. He may be hard to reach at times but eventually takes care of everything. My friend at the wedding asked Mark to take a picture of him and his girlfriend, Mark said the best angle is from the top of the building overlooking the garden. Next thing he was on top of the roof taking photos. Throughout the planning process he was flexible and accommodated our needs. For example, he bought extra dishes when we exceeded our initial head counts estimate (reaching 140 guests).
About the venue itself, it was easy to pick for us, we fell in love with the Stone Hearst at the first sight. It was logistically complicated to have the wedding on the island and bring catering and bar from the mainland, but we really wanted to have our wedding there. This building and garden are Mark's pet project and are not designed to be a completely formal wedding venue (e.g. pointy high heels are not suitable). The outdoor space is magical and just perfect for anyone who likes an event in the nature with flowers, rocks, and ups and downs in a home-like setting. The venue can serve as a perfect pre-wedding-photographing location. The house is pretty but too small to count on for a large event, but it can accommodate the hosting families for the night. It may be a tricky to tent large areas if plan for a big party in a rainy season, but it is practical to have multiple smaller tents.
Overall, we are very happy that we shared our wedding experience with Mark and would highly recommend the Stone Hearst. We are still enjoying its beauty in our wedding photos and movies!
